PaPa, wrong BoBo (my "handle" is Tuckersbo; not sure who BoBo is) But, I do love ribs....maybe the PaPa van can make the trip to Oneonta one afternoon??? |

We went up this time last year and had a great time. If you have time, go to the tiny diner in town, especially for breakfast. Great food and very friendly. We watched a few game in Doubleday stadium as well. Lots to do there! Good luck to all the GA teams this year!!!! |

Papa has been twice--once with each grandson & won with each grandson (at 10) & I've been twice--but with the same grandson who won both times (at 10). My grandson had the honor to play on the big field with both of Papa's grandsons. By the way, I love BBQ, too |

For coaches staying in the barracks, bring some old style Renuzit air fresheners, as well as some spray air freshener. The barracks get a little ripe after a few days. Once the meal schedule comes out, you may want to plan a few meals accordingly. We had a chicken and rice bake for dinner which made us have to go out. We are not playing well, but I really feel the level of competition in the Georgia area will do very well here.
We did face a young lady last night who was probably throwing about 65 mph as a pitcher. She played CF and 1B and could really play. There has been some other standouts we have seen.
Sal's pizza in downtown Ctown was good as well as a place across the street from Field of Dreams next to Dimaggio's. Good wings, sandwiches, and pizza.
There is an Elite team from Kansas City who mentioned to us they would be playing in a tourney with the Bandits and they are looking forward to playing them. The coach gave us their resume and their pitching performances . As they walked away, we felt like they really don't understand. LOL, LOL. |

You can actually watch this elite team from Kansas City play at 430 today on DreamsPark TV. They are playing a rec team from Georgia, so I am sure there ace pitcher will be on the hump. And you are correct... they do not understand. But they will soon enough. |

Thanks for the tip Albright. Keep them coming especially on the barracks part of what to bring. There are many coaches not looking forward to being in those things. |

6-4-3 Panthers going 6-0 in pool play doesn't surprise me. The level of play most of us have grown accustomed to around here is higher than we might think. The warm weather states have a huge advantage. The more you play, the better you get (up to a point). Many of these teams cant think about getting onto a baseball field in February. We are also playing tough competition in big events nearly every week.
I would be surprised if a cold weather state wins any of the weeks. I don't which week the OK team is going, but they'll likely be the cold states best shot.

The MIDWAY DIRTY DAWGS are headed to Copperstown this Friday. We have been planning and preparing for a long time.
I am so proud of the group of boys I am taking. I have had 4 of my kids since they were 5 years old and most of the others together since they were 9 years old. A coach could not ask for a better group of coaches, players and families. These 11 BOYS have grown up together. I know this upcoming week will be one they will never forget.
We hit BP last night on our 200 ft fields and it reminded me of the the 4th of July. Bombs were flying everywhere. HUGE SMILES on every kids face. We finally have gotten healthy and have some of our arms back. We have been banged up almost all year. We are going up there to have fun and represent for Georgia. Wish us Luck!!!

Go get 'em BTO! I hope your team does well and has a blast. I've heard nothing but great things about the experience. They seem to make it better each year too.

Brian, I think I can speak for all of the Georgia teams when I say we will be pulling for you as well as all of our Georgia friends. You guys got a tough week a head of you with a lot of baseball but the boys will surely have the times of there lives. I'm sure it will be a great time for all of you. You have a great team and I am sure that your father in law (Bill) will keep me up to date on what is going on as I work with him.
Good luck and travel safe, we will be pulling for you.

I wonder if the unusual 90+ temps in Cooperstown will favor the southern states? Also, those bunk houses must be pretty ripe in those temps... yikes :-0 |

One thing to watch out for is umpire inconsistency since they come from all over. Like anything else, there are good and bad ones. They love to call outs on hot shots to right field and a play at first. I have talked to several coaches who have complained about these outs that were bad calls. We had a couple ourselves.
I am thoroughly convinced the competition in Ga is among the tops in the nation. We are a AA team and we have played major teams from other states and played them comparatively and not been run ruled. I can't Imagine a AA team from another state playing the 11th ranked major team from Ga and not being run ruled. Much less some of our AAA teams and not experiencing the same thing.
You do need a banner for the opening ceremonies, the concession stands are okay, and there is nothing to do in Cooperstown except play ball. I did find out they are having a 13 year old tourney next year, but I am not sure where. Bring money for souvenirs, pictures, and the bats. This can take up to $50 plus easily and some of our parents have spent a couple of hundred .
We did have one player who hit 5 home runs in a row today and another who hit one 300 feet at least. We got knocked out today, but we balled to the end. We had about 24 home runs. As in most tourneys, the luck of the draw in pool play will help determine how well you will do unless you are an elite / major team. It has been an awesome experience and I am glad we experienced this. One thing that will help your room smell is to place box fans in the window so they suck the air out. This will work as an air conditioner and an odor controller. This will be one of the best investments you can make. |

Lumpy, hope you and the boys have a big time. Was hoping to see you this past weekend at Midway, but I think you guys were up the road. Anyway, give me a call sometime when you get a chance.

I see that Home Plate Chili Dogs rebounded from a rough pool play experience to win 3 bracket games. That will leave a good taste in your mouth!
My son went in '08 and we still talk about it almost every week.
Our computer is in our kitchen and our screen saver is a slide show of pictures. Since there are about 250 Cooperstown pictures in the rotation they come up pretty regularly prompting even more conversation.
He had the great good sense to hit a home run during the web cast game, so we have gotten to watch it a couple of times. :)
Good times.... |

Two of our "Ga. Select Red" boys will be playing this next week, (week #2), in Cooperstown D.P. with the "Bolton Wildcats" out of Memphis,TN. We leave tomorrow and we are ALL so excited! My son has never flown so, he is just as excited (and a little nervous) about that.Looking forward to watching some of our fellow Ga. teams' games! I expect that at least one will be in the Championship! |
