Two weeks from now, a large group of Georgians will be hitting the road for the ultimate travel baseball experience.

Anyone practicing around-the-horn in practice? Team trading pins arrived yet? Practicing throwing out runners from outfield on force plays?

I hope the web broadcast bugs have been worked out.

Anyone else out there getting pumped up for the trip like I am?

We will be there that week as well. We were asked to go with a team out of Florida. Look me up when you are there bmoser. I am wondering when they are going to put up a list of the teams coming June 4th - 10th.

G-Man,
Seems like they post the teams only a day or two before that weeks play begins.

Sure will be nice to get out of this heat. We were melting playing 3 games in that 90+ weather yesterday.

I can't wait to see some rye grass fields with the mower stripes in them. I wonder if they keep a Rooster near the barracks to get the boys up each morning.

G-Man,
Sharon Springs Spartans-Blue.

There is also a Sharon Springs Spartans-Black team there the same week. Both teams very comparable, high AAA or low Majors depending upon who you ask.

Looking forward to meeting you guys up there. Hopefully the boys will have the opportunity to hang out. As I mentioned I was told that this Saturday the teams and schedules would be released online for the June 4th week. Shoot me an email with your cell phone number and I will call you once there and maybe we can hookup at some point during the tournament.

Remember early June can be real cold. Pack the warm clothes. I drove up last year and we got there around 5 to 6 which is about the time they let you in. While the car is in line we let the boys run around trading pins. It was fun to watch.

My team will be going to Cooperstown the week of the 4th. Now do most teams take banners with them or not? I havent had a banner made since we were a 8yr old All-Star Team.

I understand they do. The boys parade around with them at the opening ceremony, and/or closing ceremony. I've seen pics of it.

We went last year at 10U, and yes we did bring a banner. It gets carried around the field for the opening ceremony. They come in as individials for the closing, so I don't think they use the banners then.

The only time we used it was in Cooperstown. We draped it over our outside team footlocker. That way you can see were the teams are from. Remember everybody has the same uniform. Banners during the ceremonies lets people know who is who.

Hopefully will be a good week to be in Cooperstown... My team is leaving on Thursday, we ended up getting a banner. Bought our kids 83 pins each, thinking that would be enough... 102 teams, not enough!!!

Best of luck to your team BMartin. I thought they capped it at 96 teams each week?

Thanks, we will have a good time in Cooperstown, its all about the kids anyway, so I hope we are successful but more importantly I want the kids to have the experience of a lifetime! I had heard they usually stopped it at around 80-90 from a friend that has been a few years.

After all these months of planning, The Kennesaw Krush will be leaving this evening for Cooperstown. I'll try to provide some updates while we are up there.

Cooperstown Park is very scenic and truly nestled in the hills. Great facilities and the Krush has had a good time meeting other teams and trading pins. The registration process has been smooth and organized. Big shout out to Mason Meyer of HP Chili Dog Meyer for winning the Golden Arm skills contest. GPA Hooks White were also represented in the GA Finals. My apologies to any other Georgia connection I missed. Games start in the morning and I can't wait to play.

Dimaggio's restaurant across the street from the park has pretty good food, somewhat pricey , but good. Do not eat at Redneck BBQ, they suck !!!!!! Ribs are awful and lack meat and flavor, baked beans were god awful, service was very slow , and we discovered when the check came that a pitcher of beer was $16. Talk at ya later, go Georgia !!!!!

And bobo should know as he has won the dang thing twice. The riddle is how do (without cheating of course) win the 10 year old division not once but twice with the same grandson. And by the way he started for both teams.

This weekend at Cooperstown looks strong. Doubt they have seen the caliber of teams like that in 1 week. Several teams from Cal and Texas, as well as probably the best team from Alabama and Tennessee. The Carolinas have a few solid teams in it as well. I predict some of the boys from Georgia win skills competition. I watched it Saturday night, and it was interesting for the most part. I got a feeling this Saturday night will be a little more entertaining. We go week 7, and the boys are getting excited. Hope all the teams enjoy the trip, and for some the culmination of their youth baseball careers.
