Tell us what you saw this weekend, or in the recent past. Any big hitters out there in 11U? Any monster shots? I heard 12U has a beast, and I was wondering if 11u had anything like that. Without naming names of course. |

I saw CBA out of Knoxville and they have 3 monsters. The biggest can hit it a mile. |

Ga Jackets Gold have (3) separate players who each put one out in the first two tournament outings. Several one-hop-to-fence bombs this weekend in Forsyth by teammates. |

I saw one "bomb" this weekend in the 11u's Bill. The cleanup hitter for the Warriors hit one against Sharon Springs Black. 225' fences? A NO-DOUBTER, gone as soon as it left the bat. |

Last week at Holly Springs field (incredible field by the way) during Saturday play of the Triple Crown tourney, Team Ga had one kid hit the wall beside the 285 sign in center and another kid one hopped the 295 sign in left. Both were during game one with temps in the 30s and NO WIND. We also had a no doubt tape measure shot by our 10 yr old this past Saturday night. Last weekend we also had two more 3-run no doubters at East Cobb in the championship game against the very good pitching of the Bay Bombers. I could go on but all together, 10 HRs in 9 games from 7 different players and none were cheap. |

You mean besides the one that hit 5 or 6 at the Slufest? I didn't see what other teams hit them but there were a few. We didn't have any in our games. |

I only watched a few games at the Slugfest. I saw a Wildcat hit a moon shot against SS Blue Sat night and also saw a Hornet go yard in their game against the GA RedHawks Sunday. I believe the Hornet's dinger was a grand slam. |

Bandits hit as many home runs as most of the 12U division and some of them were tape measure shots. I am more concerned that some of our hitters have not consistently hit the ball hard. I believe we are going to work more on consistenty and getting our hands in a better position to be better hitters. |

He hit 5 or 6 for the tournament. He could and probably should play 12U major or at least 11U major. |

GMan, Did you see that one? I heard it was a 225' fence that had a 50 foot grassy knoll behind it, then atop the knoll was a row of huge cypress tress, and that shot hit 2/3rds of the way up those trees. If it was 275 to the trees and it hit ~50' up, that had to be a 300'+ shot.

Yes, GA Jackets Gold have four separate players who have gone yard so far this year and a few others that likely will soon. None this weekend but I did witness three from other teams in the 11u majors at Forsyth County Slugfest. Somebody on Team Ga hit a mammoth 3-run bomb against the ECB Titans Saturday night in that tight fought contest. Sunday our boys were warming up in the batting cages while 643 Cougars were on their way to run ruling HP Chili Dogs. Not to be shut out some young man on HP Chili hit a monster of a shot that landed on top of the batting cages clearly more than 250 ft. I had a great view from the fence and it was majestic! Finally in the championship game #99 from 643 Cougars hit a line drive grand slam against our boys. No more fastballs for that guy! :) |

Just one question....do the USSSA tournaments have a device to "check" for altered bats if questioned? More and more are popping up and I know for a fact, one big named major team pulls them out when they're behind. I always wanted to protest but tournaments do not have any way of checking these bats. 200-225 ft homers are believable but 295'? Everyone on our team has hit at least 200+ and a few can easily hit over 225...with unaltered bats. |

Never seen as many homeruns in a game until Sat. night. Team GA. has power from top to bottom and the class to go with it. Great game Sat. and hope to see you guys again. |

Scoremore, They have it in major slow pitch. Without it, I wish all the comp's were gone. It is a very simple device I would love to see used for the safety of all our kids!!! I think comp bats are done in the future for just that reason. |

Without naming any names or numbers like the forum rules states.
What was the most HR's by any one player in 11U majors at the slugfest?
I'm just asking for comparison to AAA because I never seen anyone hit like the Wildcat. |

How can a bat be altered at the 11U age group, Just wondering? Are we talking about shaving a bat or something? |

You may not want to post "How to alter a bat" on the forum as Papa is quite sure that are many that would give it a try. Just kidding, I think. |

I don't have any first hand experience with this but I've heard that bats can be taken to a machine shop to be "shaved" or "rolled". The shaved process is supposed to make the walls of the bat thinner and the rolled process is supposed to help you break the composite bat in without hitting it hundreds of times. Either way, I don't like the lesson being taught to the player ... |

The Bandits had 3 players go yard over the weekend, I think each one had 2 homers. One of them might have had 3 - I can't remember. Several more were bounced off and over the fences at Central Park. |

My son uses a bat that is atleast 15 years old, Easton metal C405 alloy. Only thing I could probably do to alter that bat is pack a few tennis balls in it. |

This is turning into a My ball is bigger than your ball thing. Papa is not a big home run hitter guy as some can hit the ball a long way against weak pitching but do they have the swing to hit a great pitcher. I want to teach my grandsons how to swing the bat, how to work a count to their favor, how to recognize a change up and how to get their hands to the ball at the right time and then the homers will come but their batting average will not suffer while they are trying to see how far they can hit it. Homers are fun to watch but championships are won with pitching and defense. |
