.....or a field so big that the ball rolls forever allowing for in the park homeruns. Play the outfield based on the field size to keep the ball in front and you have no chance at the routine flys. play up where they should be based on the age group of kids and you get a line drive to the gap that by the time the kid gets to it the runner is on 3rd or scored. I saw a few games (not all) this weekend that might have gone differently if field size had been more accurate to the age. Who needs a 15 foot net at 11 years old when it's only 183 feet in left and 193 or 198 in right. Heck it was a homerun even if it hit the net. What about outfields that you could go off road four wheeling on. I walked cow pastures before that were more smooth than some of these outfields. |

Better yet, USSSA take a stand and ban the composite bats. |

Gloveman I couldn't agree more wow I was shocked at some of the homers I saw this weekend. Not that affected us winning or losing. There is no doubt certain bats are suped up. |

It's all about the Green!! $$$ You guys know that. Some (NOT ALL) directors just want to pack the parks and get as many teams as possible for the CASH. That's why we try to use the same folks as much as possible so we know what we're getting. |

Back on subject...I'm tired of higher class quality teams LURKING in a lower class to add to the trophy wall. If my team could compete at a higher level, I'd be there even if USSSA didn't re-assign. |

I agree. With all the old softballers I see walking the parks every weekend, I would bet some of the composite bats are suped up... Too easy to alter them. Some one is gonna get hurt. Does anyone know if a teams bats have been questioned and tested this year? |

Hey nbcfyoy and gafan.... I hope no one minds but I would like to know which teams you feel are lagging behind to fill up that trophy case? Also, it is a different philosophy many times on why they play down or up....some personal preference is ok as long as they are not dominating, right? Like other post subjects, which ones should move up whether USSSA dictates or not? |

Wouldn't name names... but my annoyance is really with some teams talking trash about how they can beat AAA/major teams, but they want to pick which ones they play and when instead of getting their feet wet in a tough AAA tourney (not Battle of the South, but something). I know our team is about in this middle of AAA and are very capable of losing to AA teams and hanging with majors teams...so I think we are right where we need to be. |

You know what I am tired of. Parents that constantly bitch because they believe their player is headed to MLB and the other players are wasting his time. Parents who bitch because their player didn’t get the game ball. Parents who believe the team is doomed to failure because their player is sitting on the bench for an inning. Parents who believe they have a right to coach or direct play from outside the fence. Parents who tell their kids "look at me for the sign" when their pitching. Players with bad attitudes and coaches who do nothing about it. Coaches who are looking to trophies. Parent who are just plain idiots. BTW, I know an 11U team that has two or three of these. I hear from parents on the team all the time about the " wieners".

@reallycoach...Preach it brother! In year's past I've had this same experience. I'm really blessed this year with some great families who care about development and a quality experience. Don't get me wrong, we like to win. It's our goal. But when we hit a bump in the road, we all still pull together. |

@ECBAAT...No sense in getting personal and starting a fire by calling out teams, but just look at the rankings and it won't take long to see which teams are winning BIG every week. Like I said before, if my guys were winning like some of these other groups, I wouldn't wait for USSSA to move me, I'd already be playing up. Stronger competition makes you better. That being said, I won't shy away from a fight either against one of these top teams because it makes my group better and helps me be a better coach. |

There are a few teams that fit the "tweener" classification. The Diamond Bears started out at aaa and really didnt compete well but have won about three tournaments since being sent down. Buzz would fit into this category also with a better record after dropping down but not necessarily dominating. Two other teams that could easily make the move from aa to aaa are Jefferson Heat and the Backyard Bashers. The Raiders are new to usssa but they would beat any of the teams listed in the aa division. They are a solid team which has pretty much dominated some nations/cam sports and open tournaments in their area. I with give an honorable mention to Fayette Force/Hplate Brown/Covington Sting/Georgia Titans. just my 2 cents worth !! |

I'm tired of some of the Major parents on this website talking about how far they have to travel to play real competition. They knew what they were getting into. Lots of travel with overnight stays. Sounds like AAA teams/parents have figured out how to "Train, Execute and PLay the game of Basebell" more economically with little to no overnight expenses. Enjoy your long distance travels!! P.S. I do love to watch a good Major battle when in our area!! |

Diamond Bears started season as AAA and did not play well (I promise they gave 100%, not sure they enough AAA pitching)...since being moved down to AA have played good baseball but are not dominating the good AA teams (some scores of lopsided games are because some teams playing AA need to be single A more than AA teams needing to be moved up)....Also if you look at the Diamond Bears schedule they are playing everyone, everywhere and not avoiding anyone - have traveled to Tallahassee for an open global event, AAA SNIT, heading to Ripken Memorial Day weekend (major teams playing) and also going to the Global World Series in Orange Beach with the most Major teams. Mocs has it correct in that Diamond Bears are the tweener team very good AA but bottom AAA team.
NOTE: (also when you play in middle ga as a AAA or Major you do have to travel and parents and players don't do well when you go 3 and out every weekend!)...the recruiting area around Macon for travel ball is very limited.... |

I'm tired of AAA parents/coaches looking down their noses at AA teams - for God's sake have some fun. I'm tired of AAA parents/coaches thinking that their team is and always will be AAA as the teams around them improve and they decline. I'm tired of AAA parents/coaches that complain about not having enough teams close by to play yet snub their noses at playing AA teams from their own park to fill in gaps in the schedule. |

All are good points! To play devil's advocate, there are AAA teams that really should not be AAA and need to move down based on how they compare to several AA teams. All for seeing a team challenge itself but how much fun is 3 and out every weekend. I guess it gives you time to cut the grass on Sunday afternoon!?!? With those teams that are competitive in AA, those players have a lot more fun (and that IS what it is all about, right?)competing all day on Sunday than watching daddy push that lawn mower!! Once you move those higher tiered AA teams up to AAA, then you have the same problem with the 2nd tier guys who are now the top tier teams. This argument never ends. |

I just love to see the one or two AAA teams who win 95% of their games, talk about how "even" they are with the major teams but still insist on playing AAA and dominating the other teams they know they can beat. These are the same people who look down on "winning at all cost" but never play better competition. Another reason Open tourneys or Triple Crown tournaments with split brackets are gaining in popularity.

If you "KNOW" the team(s) doing it, why can't you appeal for an examination to the umps or tournament directors during a game where the bats are being used and put an end to all of the chatter? I don't know if I'd be able to detect a juiced bat by hearing it but if it puts kids in danger seems to me someone would protest during a game. Otherwise we are just putting our kids at risk and talking about it but not taking action. Are you going to wait for YOUR kid to get hurt before you protest? I wouldn't. I can't imagine that if you went to a TD immediately during a game and protested that he would not do something right then.
