Usually, it's to avoid match-ups that already took place in pool play. For example, if the mocs finished as the #1 seed and Hobgood finished #8 but you already played in pool play, then you would play the #7 seed instead of Hobgood. Surprisingly, it happens quite a bit. |

Moccs,in triple crown they do what is called pool protection. I guess the best way to explain it is they try to avoid 2 teams playin each other first game of bracket play that played each other in pool play. So basicaly we will not no match ups for bracket play until every pool game complete and also with that bein said every team should plan on playin sat nt u never no. |

That what I was thinking > it is a good idea and it would give a chance to play other teams as well outside of your pool. In a tournament like this one you wouldnt expect a team to sandbag to make it to the silver bracket would you? We played in one recently and a team pitched their weakest pitchers on Saturday to make the lower bracket so they would win. Our goal is to make the Gold and try to go as far as we can. Look foprward to watching/playing some good baseball this weekend!! |

Trying to lose so you can win a plastic trophy is pitiful.....It wouldn't surprise me a bit that it happens....From all the teams dodging tourneys last year so they could brag about a record I would assume it happens a lot more than we think. |

That would be really funny but some teams might use that as an excuse should they not make it to the coveted gold bracket. We pitched so and so who never pitched this fall and we missing so and so due to football... |

I would hope that most teams wouldn't enter a tournament with the goal of winning 9th place. For this weekend, if you make it to the Gold bracket, it won't matter where you are seeded since every game should be very competitive. |

IMO, I see another Longhorns - Rays match up. The Longhorn's seem to have their number but alot of good teams are listed so they may meet before the ship. Very strong event if all the teams get their fees paid by Tuesday.
oldschool,
Why no love for my Shiloh team? An all EC final won't happen, I will say 2 will reach the semi's though.
Looks like it'll be 3 EC teams in the semi's if the Rays beat the Mocs so we'll see how that turns out. I think we're going to see another Laurens Lighting vs. EC Longhorn rematch in the finals! |

Looks like the Sandy Plain Wildcats have suprised a few people. The mighty Titans ran into a roadblock with a tough draw with SP and Ec longhorns. We almost blew our chances to make to the Gold by playing 13 players and conserving pitching. Moccs have tough game this a.m. with Rays. |

Laurens Lighting ends the Cinderella run of SP Wildcats, good run by the cats thus far. EC Titans vs. Laurens should be a great match up. Please provide details if anyone is there for us fans at home!!! |

Winner????????????? May the best team win and good luck!!
3 out of your top 4 made the finals, the bottom bracket had the top 3 teams in it regardless and it made sense the champs came from there.
Ironically, the Longhorns/Shiloh game took place in the quarter finals. Heard the late games didn't end till almost midnight on Saturday, is that true? Also, looks like the Rays finally put together a great run to win this one. Good for them, been an up and down fall, nice way to end it. |

E,Wow! I was shocked the only win shiloh got was against the bandits.I guess the Rays brought there A game. Good for them. I wondered if the Longhorns were affected by losing there first base man? On the Gwinnett side Collins Hill came out swinging to beat the Parkview Panthers in the Championship game at the Boo Ball Tournament. Another upset at yet another tournament. Both teams looked very strong all the way to the end.

Sure were some good games, and alot of quality teams/baseball to watch this weekend. The Titans & Laurens team were in a tight 1-1 battle in the 6th inning before the Lightning put up 5 runs in the Gold Semi's. It was a good weekend for the Rays in the gold bracket, and congrats to Barrett in the Silver.
Congrats to Tony + Donnie for running a great tournament - like they usually do. Glad that Mother Nature was good to TC this weekend since their prior 2 Fall tournaments were rained out. Triple Crown really does a fantastic job with everything. |

Was that shiloh,s entire team I no that a couple kids had to leave before there 2nd pool game. just seemed overall they were solid club. I don't think they could compete in major. Maybe just off weekend for them. I was realy impressed with sandt plains wildcats good solid club. Also I would say for most part a first class tournement with the exception of a few spectators no need to mention any names they no who they are and what team they are with. Congrats to winners. |

Everyone keeps about how the Shiloh Titans are a strong major team and ranking them in the top 5 in the state for spring, I do not see it. It was proven this weekend. |

I don't think Shiloh is top 5 either, but they are by far the best AAA team I know of.....I think they should play major as the boys will be better for it. Seeing the best pitching can only help building towards next year and beyond. 1-5 in their lineup is pretty strong, I think all 5 of those boys would be welcome additions to most major teams in GA. I know they have football players but I am fairly sure everybody was there Saturday night. The Rays just flat out had our number, we hit the ball hard the first two innings and they made some great plays, unfortunately we flattened out and they went on to win. Glad the state of GA could keep this championship... |

This was a fun tournament played at some awesome parks. Congratulations Rays for winning this thing. The Moccs played them tough but did not do enough to get it done. I think the Moccs had them a little worried after a long home run and a laser shot off the Green Monster. I saw a lot of good teams play this weekend and can not wait for the Spring... The Rays were the class of this one and deserved to win... See you all in the Spring. |

Gwinnett,
I still believe Shiloh is a very good team, perhaps their Sunday only fall schedule didn't prepare them for such a tough tournament like this one was. The thing that people don't seem to realize is that most of these teams are fairly even with talent, it all comes down to who's hot that weekend. Very few teams can go out and dominate week in and week out, the only team that I've seen like that are the 12U Bandits. Since those boys were 6 yrs old, they have been amazingly consistent.
I wanted to stop by and see the Sunday games but had tickets to the Falcons game and enjoyed some r& r. I guess the demand to see the Bengals wasn't real good! lol |

E, I honestly believe shiloh is a great team as well. We've played a game with them and played against them as a team numerous times. We never have beaten them as a team. Every time I've ever watched them they have played very solid. Great group of boys and parents. I know they will bring there A game in spring!
Don't worry we'll save you some brats for next time!!!!!quote: Originally posted by ecbinsider

I am new to the board but have been reading it on and off for a while. I have a question. Are the Rays really as good the stats for this tournament show? They out scored their opponents (all of them are very good teams) 50 to 12 and shut-out the Laurens team 8-0 in the championship game. I thought they were one of the most improved teams from the beginning of last season to the end of last season but their performance here was pretty dominating.
Am I missing something? |

11UFAN, I think it's a little early to give them top billing this fall since this was their only tournament win. It's a great start and perhaps this a sign of things to come. |

ecbpappi,
I didn't say anything about giving them top billing. It is just that it looks like their performance in this tournament was really really good. Do you disagree? Who would you or anyone else give top billing to for the Fall? I Didn't know this was the first championship game they played in this Fall. I guess if you only make it to one championship game in the Fall this one would be the one I'd pick.
Our boys were in the Silver bracket and we were at ATPP all Sunday so I didn't see any of the Sunday Gold bracket games. Congrats to Barrett for winning it all in the Silver.
I am just wondering if anyone knows whether the Rays brought in any Fall ball "ringers" for this tournament or if these are the same kids that they played with all Fall and more importantly, the same kids that will be on the team in the Spring.

11U Fan -
I'm just one of the parents on the team but the Rays played with our kids this tourney - no pickups. The kids performed well last weekend against 5 solid teams that all had their moments this fall. Sure was a fun fall watching the kids getting to know each other, both on and off the field.
We're done for the fall, and ended it with a good win. I know we're looking forward to a nice little break, and then start the fun back up again for Spring.
I'm sure it won't be too long 'till the baseball withdrawal kicks in!! ;-) |

Prestont,
Congrats on the win. Didn't mean to imply anything about the ringers, we actually picked up a pitcher for that tournament and I know there are alot of players that get picked up due to football in the Fall. We are playing in one more tourney before we wrap up the Fall so I have a week or two left before I go cold turkey until the Spring LOL... |

Our coach warned us off the site and my son already sits enough as it is
We played the Rays twice this Fall, we tied them once and lost to them in pool play this tourney in a fairly close game.
Not too hard to figure it out....
