A new elite baseball event called "Stars and Stripes: National Winter World Championships" is taking place this winter break and from the looks of the people involved, it is really something special!

This National tournament does not conflict with Fall or Spring travel baseball, high school baseball, summer showcase baseball, or any other organization. The beauty of Stars and Stripes is it gives players (ages 9U-18U) the opportunity to represent their state (20 + States are represented) in Orlando the week after Christmas. Thus, it is first class baseball in the Beautiful backdrop of Disney. A wonderful combination your family will never forget! An additional attraction is the teams and coaches from all 20+ states will be staying at the same first class resort, the Orlando Marriott World Center.

Current MLB scouts, college coaches, and top high school coaches from Georgia are involved in the tryout process and also will be coaching the Peach State teams!

you can read below about the Georgia State Director, Trent Mongero, then go to the Stars and Stripes Baseball link to learn more about how your son or players can be apart of this world class event. The Georgia try out schedule is below, however, you must first register on the Stars and Stripes Baseball website before you can attend!

Coach Mongero is currently the head coach at North Hall High school in Gainesville, Georgia. In the past three years his "Trojans" have set 21 school records. Through his 20 + years as a high school coach, Mongero has helped develop and/or mature 12 athletes who have signed professionally and more than 85 student-athletes who have furthered their baseball careers at the collegiate level. Trent also serves as an Associate Professional Baseball Scout for the Boston Red Sox. In addition, each winter he instructs at some of our Nations top College baseball camps, including back to back NCAA DI National Champions, South Carolina.

Coach Mongero is the published author of the nationally released baseball instructional book and DVD series titled: The Coach's Companion, Winning Baseball www.winningbaseballacademy.com. He is a former professional baseball player in the Atlanta Braves farm system where he was voted the team's "Most Popular Player" by his home fans.

In college Trent was a Division One short stop at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where he was "Conference Player of the Year" in 1989. That same summer, Trent played for the New Market Rebels in the "Valley" Collegiate League where they were league champions. In 1987 Trent played baseball at South Florida Junior College where he was voted co-team captain and played for the Florida Ju-Co State Championship.

I am hearing more and more about this group and I like what they are trying to do. I had a long conversation with the state director and this is a great group of baseball people involved. Parents are always talking about finding good coaches, here is an opportunity and it doesn't conflict with your travel team. I hope everyone considers going for the evaluation and opportunity to play in Orlando.
