Sad story, I read about this 7-10 days ago after we just returned from Panama City. The current was really strong and I thought to myself that someone is going to get in trouble out here if their not careful.

Yup, an act of heroism for sure. We were there June 29th thru the July 10th and we heard about 6 folks being pulled from the current. The authorities even hovered the helicopter over people in the water until the got out ...after they told them to exit the water earlier in the day....some people are just morons.

We all should keep this family in our thoughts and prayers and hopefully all take a valuable lesson from this story and make sure that we do all we can to keep these kids as safe as possible. What looks like fun sometimes is filled with danger. What a hero this man was and we should hope and pray that we have the courage to be the example that this great man was.

Everyone please keep your thoughts and prayers with the family. Darin McGahey was as good a man as you would ever want to meet and my best friend since age 5. (38 years) This is a tragic loss for everyone who new Darin and he will truley be missed.
