Pool play is over and it is HOT down here. Georgia teams doing well down here. Nats beat a team from FL and one from Knoxville. Forsyth Outlaws, Stealth Bombers, Nats and WF Diamong Dawgs all representin' Georgia with 2-0 pool play records.
Dont count out the Nationals and SKRAP > Stealth should win in a landslide. Thats the problem with grand slam -- no divisions and teams pick up or borrow players all of the time. I would like to see some classifications or maybe gold/silver brackets occasionaly.
Stealth and Skrap were by far the two best teams. They played in the semi's and Stealth won 7-6. Skrap had a pitcher that threw in the mid 60's. A GA team the NYO Dirtbags played both teams only to lose against both after a 4-4 tie in the 4th inning against Stealth and leading Skrap 2-1 after 2 inings. I agree they need to do a better job with team classifications so the competition is more equal.
Classifications would be just fine, BUT I really like that a kid can go to the beach on any week and pick up with a team. Our team chose not to do a beach tourney or a world series, so Grand Slam made that possible.
the rain never fails at PCB. we played there at that tournament 2 years ago. Torrential rain washed out Sat bracket play. So they started up Sunday at 1 pm. The final started at 9:30 Sunday night. Try driving home all night to go to work monday morning. Ugh. The one complaint I had was that the tournament starts Thurs at 8 am. And the schedule was poorly done. There was a lot of time where fields were open Thurs and Fri but no games scheduled. Why not pack in the games up front just in case rain comes later on and causes scheduling problems?
