Being away from all the action here in Savannah, was wondering what everyone thought about the AAA division. Like to hear everyones early season rankings. The Dirtdawgs are coming off aa NIT championship which required beating 3 major teams. Won all three games Sunday by 1 run or extra innings. With only 3 returning players the Dirtdawgs have rebuilt themselves and look forward to meeting up with some of the fine teams in Atlanta.

So far the best team we have seen in the division is the West Georgia Bandits and the Sharon Springs Spartans. Lets see those early rankings and predictions.

Two teams I like in AAA:

Elite gamers Red - I saw them in a tough game against ECB Titans and when they ran all over Holly Springs Express.

Sharon Springs Spartans Black - one of my surpirse teams for this year - wins over Sandy Plains, ECB Colts, 643 Jags, and knocked the #1 seeded 643 Cougars out of bracket play last weekend at TC.

what 3 major teams did you play on your way to your recent tournament win?

In alpha order:
Chain Dirt Dawgs
Collins Hill Green
Elite Gamers-Red
Georgia Redbirds
Georgia Select-Red
Home Plate Chilidog-Meyer
North Georgia Lightning
Sandy Plains Wildcats
Sharon Springs Spartans-Black
West Georgia Bandits
Wildcats-Gwinnett

I won't even try to rank these. Maybe they'll all play in the USSSA 11U AAA States so we can see where they stand.

I am always surprised at how few of teams actually play in the USSSA state tournaments.

Moser by your rankings we will have a top 10 matchup this weekend in Savannah. We play Sandy Plains in pool play Saturday. Should be fun.

shutout- tournament was USSSA in South Carolina. Teams were Low Country Bulldogs, Palmettto Elite, And North Augusta Stingers. Not nearly as good as Georgias top major teams but very good teams.

I think the two big things that separate AAA from Major are: (1) pitching depth, and (2) consistency. We have beaten teams on bmoser's list, and lost to lesser teams. And we split with some of the ones on that list. We're up and down, and that's what I see a lot in this division. BTW, I think bmoser's being modest because he left the warriors off his list. I thought they looked pretty solid this past weekend.

That dont sound right. Dirt Dawgs beat Homeplate in Super NIT and West Georgia Bandits beat Sharon Springs. Right now I would have to rank it even though we play for Chain Dirt Dawgs in this order.

1. West Georgia Bandits. This team is solid pitching and hitting. Major Team my opinion.

2. Chain Dirt Dawgs

3. Home plate Meyer

4. Elite Gamers

5. Sharon Springs

6. Georgia Select

7. Sandy Plains Wildcats

8. Georgia Outlaws

9. Collins Hill

10. East Cobb Luck

Just my opinion but I am not as familar with the Georgia teams as I am Florida teams yet.

That Palmetto Elite team with the 3 kids added to their roster from their 12u Major team would be what I would consider a very above average 11u major team. That team can hit, field, pitch and is fast. Plus they have some very very large 11 year old kids. That in my opinion has to be the best team we have faced since we have been playing with the Dirt Dawgs.

Alpharetta beat up the luck last week pretty good so I would add them to Gman's list. They also pulled up some pretty big wins last year including one over the Ken Express. Not to mention they made a couple of nice pickups with a kid a i think from Milton and one from 643 who both looked like very good hitters last weekend when i watched them play the colts.

I watched Sandy Plains Wildcats beat Alpharetta A's 9-6 on wednesday. Both teams played pretty good but SP just hit a little better. Was a good weekday game for both teams.

Shutout you are correct as I mentioned I am not as familar with the Georgia teams yet and I was thinking that the Alpharetta A's were the Southside A's that we run ruled. So yes they would deserve to be in the top 10.

Just heard Alpharetta A's beat ECB Astros to make it to the finals of the Battle of the Barn this weekend against the Stars. The Stars put a whooping on them with their big hitters but this team keeps showing up. A little more conisistency and they will keep climbing the AAA rankings.

I don't think those rankings are accurate when you look at head to head games. I think the Elite Gamers Red are clearly #1, but the rest are closely matched.

Mill Creek Hawks Red played in South Carolina for a few tournaments this year. We won one and came in second in the other. We also won the Mill Creek Shootout and runner-up in the Flowery Branch tournament this weekend in the Gold division. There was some great competition. We ended up losing to Team Georgia 8-6. We played some very good teams. This tournament had a majority of the teams I have been around for the past few years. We had fun and great competition. It does not get any better than that.

Thanks Shut Out - we have played four teams on this list since last year and have only lost to the Elite Gamers Red. But until we start hitting better I wouldn't want to play any them.

The HOCO CUBS enjoyed playing in McDonough this weekend. We lost in an international tie-breaker to North Augusta.

I do have a question that I hope you guys can answer.

My understanding was that the last "batted" out goes to second. However, the ruling was that it was the "last out." Is there a place where this rule is found?

Thanks --

As to my rankings:

Elite Gamers - Red (should be a major team)
Chain Dirtdawgs
Hoco Cubs
Home Plate - Meyer
West Georgia Bandits
Georgia Select Red
North Augusta
Georgia Select Red
Alpharetta A's
Georgia Redbirds
