MBA Pride 11u won Triple Crown's 12u Jacksonville Journey to the Stars this past weekend. The team won the tournament undefeated [5-0]. The competition was difficult and they got to face top notch pitchers, some of the caliber which is not currently present in the 11u division in Florida or Georgia. The team won by excelling in all facets of the game: superb pitching, excellent defense, timely hitting, and above all, power hitting. The team hit 7 monster home runs. The fields were 250 feet in distance with fences 10 feet in height. This tournament serves as a "warm-up" for this week's Florida Elite Invitational in Tampa. We were hoping for a rematch with the Longhorns and the Bombers. It looks like only the Bombers may be there. The Longhorns decided to pull-out due to a fundraiser event. We are looking forward to a rematch with the Longhorns and hope that at the time both teams will have their complete roster.

Good Job MBA!!! It will be interesting to see how you do against the slower 11U pitching in your next tournament after heat you faced in the 12s this past weekend. How many 12U tournaments have you guys won and how many more do you plan to participate in?

doc: Was the 12U tournament filled with the major teams. If it was not then I don't think you faced better pitching than we have seen so far in the 11U. The kid from the Longhorns is as good as any pitcher we have faced including the 12U East Cobb Astros that has beat and I might add lost to your MBA 12U team. I watched the Pride fall all over their selves trying to hit the curve ball and then I seen the Bandits do the same thing the Pride did. Time and practice will cure the curve ball thing that is if the pitcher's arms can hold up under the strain put on them by the pitch.

You have also not seen the Bandits pitching staff that can also hold their own with any 12U major team in the nation. I think that we will all find out where we stand shortly but I don't think that there is any question that the 11U major division is as strong or stronger than it has ever been.

When is the Florida tournament and besides the Bombers can you tell us who the other tough teams should be.

We have won two 12u tournaments and have yet to lose to a 12u team [14-0 overall vs 12u teams in USSSA and Triple Crown Tournaments]. Probably 50% of our remaining tournaments will be against 12u teams and the remaining 50% will be at important 11u tournaments such as the national championship[AAU]and the Elite-32 World Series. We may also play Rawlings International Tournament at ESPN Disney Wide World of Sports against 11u teams from different parts of the world.
We're keeping a very close eye on any tournament close by where the Longhorns are registered so that we can have a chance to play the rubber game. There is no guarantee that we would meet at Disney. if someone would post the Longhorn's website, it would help us keep a closer eye on their schedule.

www.lynnhavenlonghorns.com We will be in the Tallahassee Super NIT in May. We look forward to seeing you there. Also, how do you have so many kids that can hit the ball well over 250 feet? Something about that seems not right. Either the kids are getting stronger these days or the bats are getting stronger; one of the two is a definite. We have a kid that is as strong as they come (maybe stronger) and he does not hit the ball that far.

It sounds to me that you think I'm lying or exagerating. We hit 7 home runs on fields that were 250 ft and fences 10 feet high at the Triple Crown Jacksonville Journey to the Stars! I could have our official scorekeeper send you a photocopy of the score book. You can also ask the tournament director from Triple Crown to describe the fields to you (San Souci and Southside Estates). The fact that your boys don't hit them that far is not a reason to doubt others. We have a player on our team who hit one out of the same ballpark on May 22, 2008 [when he was 9 years old!) I confirmed the date by reading it on the homerun ball, not from sheer memory. This is a well known fact by many in this area. That same kid hit a ball out of the park and in the parking area at Cooperstown at the King of Swat competition. Baseballpapa has the video! Like him, we have another 4-5 players on MBA's roster that can do the same.
Perhaps you can find the address of the two ballparks on Google, map them, and then take an aerial view. The distance can be estimated. All of this information can be obtained by visiting the Triple Crown website! We played at San Souci's field #2 and Southside Estates field #2

Doc-are you playing 12u Major teams or AAA and AA? Just curious. I have 2 kids whose teams are playing up and feel it is helping them when they play their own Major age group.

To be honest, we don't pay too much attention at each team's classification when we play 12u. There were a couple of teams in the 12u Triple Crown tournament in Jacksonville which were classified as AAA by USSSA. I can assure you that they could easily be playing Majors. In fact, the team we played in the championship game has beaten several Major teams in the recent past. Nonetheless, playing at the 12u level permits us to see better pitching and a "faster" game than at the 11u Major level, no matter what the classification.

This discussion forum even seems popular to the Florida teams. Does Florida have any discussion boards that are as popular as this one?
Just curious...

Whitlow: The Florida boys just chime in to see what Papa is saying about them. In my opinion the Georgia/Florida Travel Ball rivalry is the best in the nation between border states. There is certainly some of the best travel baseball teams in the nation located in these two states. Florida did have a very good forum until some idiot messed it up for them posting inappropriate material.

Whitlow,
I've tried a Florida forum for a couple of weeks about a year ago, and found it lacked decorum. This one is better by a wide margin. I didn't both saving the link because I wasn't learning anything useful there.

Hey Doc which team/Teams in that 12u Tournament that were classified as AAA beat 12u Major teams? Also you are correct the game at the 12u level moves faster and the pitching is also better in most cases.

The CBC Riverdogs 12u [AAA] beat 12u Beyel Brothers [Majors] and 12u Team Nitro [Majors]. Jax Heat [AAA 12u] has in turn beaten the CBC Riverdogs and also recently beat 12u Web Bridge Athletics [Majors]. Does this answer your question?
