How 'bout those Holly Springs Express! Looks like an Atlanta vs. Savannah finals. Chain Dirt Dawgs did well to stay so close to a big city Major team. |

We hung in there lost on a 3 run bomb in extra innings. Looks like chili dogs beat Holly Springs. |

Not sure Holly Springs qualifies as a 'big city'. Almost all those kids come from Canton or further North so Savannah looks big by comparison. The N. Georgia teams were smart to get to Savannah with the weather we had. They got to play ball while we all watched the draft.
Looks like GA Elite is living up its name though. Would like to see this team come North sometime and play with the other Major teams in Georgia. |

Very interesting game. They had a furious rally toward the end. Got to witness my first up close view of the bowling pin fiasco after a home run where all the kids surround home and fall like bowling pins. Boy these coaches and kids have a lot to learn about respect for the game and their opponents but as they get older that will all take care of itself. |

This was the best tourney for CD Black this season I think. I wonder if they added players for the trip? Looks like they may have ran out of pitching, or Elite's bats caught fire at the right time.
I'd like to see Elite play. I missed them at SNIT. They drop a lot of pool games, then step it up in bracket play, so must be utilizing the pitching they have very wisely. Congrats to them on a nice win! I can see them rising up in the rankings to top 5. |

We got to see a lot of different teams this weekend, including the best 4 teams (2 CBC teams, Blue Claws, and NF Hurricanes) from Jax (at least according to the Jax coaches).
The GA Elite are the real deal. They've got some kids that can really sling it including a little guy that looked like he throws in the mid-60's with precision. That same kid caught a ball at the fence (guessing about 210-215) against CBC Sting and threw a kid out at the plate tagging from 3B on a one-hop by three steps. Best throw I've seen from the OF by far this year.
This is a fun place to play and we got lucky dodging rain drops this weekend. Pooler park is very nice and has all grass IF (with cutouts) and I hear they will be doubling their fields in the next two year. I can see this tournament getting bigger every year. Would like to see some SC teams added to the mix.
Of course, Tony does a great job as usual. TC are the best run events in the Southeast in my opinion. |

Stinger: Holly springs is in Cherokee County, Cherokee County is part of the Atlanta metro area, and thus part of the "big city" I'm referring to. Canton and points North all the way up to Cartersville are too (source: Wikipedia).
Georgia Elite has come North to play the other Major team in Georgia. They played in the S-NIT and beat GA Jackets-Gold and GA Academy Red, lost to Sandtown.
I agree though, would be nice if they made another trip or two.

The georgia Elite are a combination of last years Dirtdawgs and the AAA linedrive team. They do have a very good team. One of the best defenses around. The little guy was our shortstop last year and yes he can throw mid 60s. Control can be an issue. The fences were only 200 this weekend so lots of dingers. |

I agree this was the best tourney for the CD Black thus far, but to clear things up no they did not add extra players for the trip, and no they did not run out of pitching our guys had been playing since 8am that morning and they had two tough games in between once it was time for the championship game which started at 8pm our guys was VERY TIRED they had played 3 games back to back before then, but overall they had a awesome weekend. |
