I have really thought about what I wanted to say in my 1000th post but I could not pick out one thing so I thought that I would just give a top 5 list.

1. 1st I would like to thank Stan for allowing us all the opportunity to participate in this forum and for the effort he makes to ensure that this forum is used the right way.

2. I would like to thank my good friend bmoser for the exchange of ideas over the past couple of years. We do not always agree but this is exactly what makes the forum useful. Sometimes it takes me several posts before moser realizes that I am always right. Ha Ha. I also want to mention kingofthehill and his brother in law 10BB as they provide much fodder for Papa to comment on. I miss you king and wish you would come off of your medication and let us know how you really feel about things.

3. I would like to thank the Coaches of my grandson's teams for the superior instruction and coaching that they receive day in and day out.

4. I would like to thank of the kids that work so hard to put on a game that few expect would be possible for these age groups. If we took the time to step back and process what we were seeing in these kids performance we would appreciate it a whole lot more. We have seen it so much that we have become accustomed to it but the first time onlookers are amazed at the things these kids are doing.

5. Last, I would just like to say that there is nothing finer and there is no greater joy that an old man can find than to watch and encourage those that he loves playing this game that we all love so much. Baseball teaches so much more than just the game itself. There are so many life lessons that be taught that has nothing to do with the final score. There is skill, strength, and speed and then there is sportmanship, committment, perserverance, teamwork, and most of all friendships that will be with them and us forever. I know that my base of friends is stronger because of baseball.

I guess I will have to make it a top 6 list in that I can't leave this post without thanking my grandson's. The time that I have been able to spend with them in the yard and on the field teaching them what I hope was the right way to play the game will always be one of the highlights of my life. I can close my eyes and see them when they were at 4 years old and then my mind will play me a highlight reel of their accomplishments up to the present and they have produced 100's of highlights in their Papa's eyes. The game has allowed me something that few get to experience in that it has allowed me into their world and by being in their world got me closer to their hearts.

The 7th thing this game has given me is about 100 more grandchildren that I would have never known except for the game. Thank you TB,CS,SC, GR,KC,WH,TC,NP,EC,GR,TP,DV,SD,LP,DC,DF,JC,DM,JS,GS,SS,JM,RB,CB,ZK,CA,
WS,RM,LR,TF,JM,D,BRONCO,BC, AND MANY MANY MORE.

Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of something that I love and feel so passionate about. "PAPA LOVES BASEBALL BUT PAPA REALLY LOVES YOUTH BASEBALL"

Absoulutely not. I was at the Alamo and the last thing I yelled before old Santa Ana crawled over the wall was that I have not begun to talk.
