Curious as to where 11u teams are planning to end their season. I know that several teams were trying to qualify for Gulf Shores/Orange Beach this weekend. Where is your team planning to go?

Same here. Sandy Plains qualified for Orange beach this weekend and found out we can't go. I think we are looking a first session Panama City in June now. Unless they open more slots for orange beach.

I knew this Friday, and advised our Coach. We can't complain, we won a free entry to this Global Qualifier and didn't earn any of the births anyway. I can see how others would be mad though. I don't think USSSA is winning over many new friends with this one.

They did announce at the rules meeting I attended that it was tough to get a birth, but not that they'd all be gone by Sunday 9 am when our bracket play began. There were 8 Qualifiers this weekend for 2 spots! Some Qualifiers began Friday, and others used a different formats giving them the edge in getting the last spot/s. I figured out that Georgia had zero chance due to the timing and format of the other 7 Qualifiers. I knew Plant City FL and the two Alabama events were holding all the aces.

We won't be playing the Global Qualifier next year unless Georgia gets a fair crack at the births. I suggest you all do the same. Global's dead in Georgia for now.

We're off to Panama City beach to play Grand Slam, or the AAU event at Disney, or Ripken, plenty of choices out there. Or maybe just a tourney near Savannah and stay on Hilton Head Island.

We qualified too, only to find out that #1 although you qualify, you have to play in the State Tournament.....therefore technically this was only a State Qualifier for Georgia and now, even if it were the true WS qualifier as it was billed, we could not play in it if we wanted too because it was already full before the weekend even started. More frustration from USSSA.......but I guess there are frustrations with many of the sanctioned baseball tourneys, you just pick your poison:).

Any one talked to Bubba about this? He seems to comment regularly to this forum. It would be interesting to heard what he has to say about the confusion.

Global Qualifier:
Its my understanding that this weekend was indeed a W.S. qualifier and not a State qualifier. Proviso was that if you earned and then accepted a W.S. birth, you had to commit to play in States as well.

All a moot point since the births were all gone by the time our 6 qualified. Guaranteed births would solve the problem. You earn a birth, then have a set time/date to register for States and W.S., pay your entry fees in full, or you get bumped and lose your birth.

Potential births are hard to get excited about.

How do you in good conscious charge teams (families) to play in a "qualifier" when there is nothing to qualify for?

Yhere are other locations you can go with your birth. Tampa and Charleston are the closes I think and maybe one in Tenn. Maybe they would consider doing 2 in gulf shore if another 24 teams committed dont know. I don't think you have toplay in state tournament to play in charleston that is where we are going. Lots of fun last year.

In Bubba's defense, another forum poster did post the disclaimer about the births NOT being guaranteed (I missed seeing that too), and Bubba did explain at 3 rules meetings that by the time Georgia's Qualifier roll around, the births would be scarce at best (I was there for that disclaimer). I still didn't take that to mean that no Georgia team would get in though. I'm not much for reading fine print.
