The Bandits are doing well. Our pool opponents haven't been at the level of 12u major teams but they are good teams none the less. We finished #1 seed after 3 pool games and begin bracket play at 2pm or so. I don't have a lot of details because I'm with my 9 year old in Winder this weekend. I did see a couple of the 11u team play at the GA Invitational though. Looks like the Titans a Jaguars are on a collision course for the championship game if the weather holds out ... and if one of the other teams wakes up and surprises one of them.
Bandits are doing well so far going 3-0 in pool play and scoring 51 runs and giving up 4. Papa looks deeper into the game than most and I saw a lot of areas that we need to work on. The rust showed but it was beginning to look much better by the third game. We miss #12 and will not be the real Bandits until he returns. If a team has a heartbeat then #12 is ours. The Bandits have always borrowed his energy and excitement for the game and he has is a true leader and we want him back soon.
Today will be an interesting day if the games get played. You must win 3 games to win the championship and today is the day that pitching comes into play the most. One of our biggest strengths has already been the depth of our pitching and we now realize what other teams have known for a long time and that is without pitching depth the game can get hairy and I expect today to be a very hairy day for the Bandits.
So far we have used our pitchers wisely but due to injuries there does not appear to much left in the cupboard. I just hope we get to play.
I too noticed that the scores have not been posted or any results given on the website. I will personally speak to the director and give him a heads up that most of the baseball people would like him a lot better if he keeps things updated quickly.
Boy, am I glad to hear the Bandits are back in the mix and am totally appreciative to any that lended a hand to fill in. I sense a bounce in PaPa and Hawks step, and couldnt be happier for all involved.
Don't rush anyone back, take your time. Plenty of season left.
Bandit Hawk and Papa, thanks for the update. I am glad to read that the Bandits are up and running. Please let us know the results of today's games. We are looking forward to hearing the update.
DuluthHardball: The update is simple. The dang thing got rained out but the good news is that my grandson got to play with several of his old friends in Rome, Georgia and pitched a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts. He looked good on the bump and all in all it was a fun weekend as he got to stay with his Papa for the entire weekend and that was special for both of us.
How can it rain so hard (several inches) 45 miles away from where we did get to play in the sunshine and one small rain delay. I suppose this proves that you cannot fool with Mother Nature.

Thanks, PaPa! He misses it so badly! We are going back on Friday for another x-ray to see how it is healing and see if he gets to start working back into it. I hope so--I can't keep him tied down much longer. Let's just hope that he gets good news on Friday...and that it truly is a "GOOD FRIDAY" in more than one way! Be safe heading south and see you there!
