Looks like an excellent turnout on the TC site for March Mayhem and also looks like the weather is hopeful to cooperate. Hopefully, we will get to make up for the rained out tourney last weekend at EC. Even a few FL teams and one from MA....looking forward to what should be a great tourney! Come on Mr. Sunshine! |

Na Chief. If your kid is an 8th grader next year they will be playing in these early tournaments and if they a HS player, they hopefully will be playing for one of the HS teams and playing from Feb - May.
Just can't get away from it. |

Alter,
Let me clarify since our kids will be in the 15U group, there will be no early tournaments. This year only a small percentage of 14U are playing High School ball, However, next year almost all of the 15U Travel players will play High School Ball.
Granted I am dealing with weather for High School ball this Spring or should I say Winter, (Since my son is a 14U High School Freshman) but I do not miss hanging out 20 miles from home all day Saturday and Sunday Freezing. My son is fortunate to have a High School coach that does not allow travel practice or games during the season. Ofcourse, they play or practice everyday Monday - Saturday so there is no time for Travel.
Next year will be a major adjustment for engaged parents of 8th Grader's (such us those who post and read on this board) especially during the Feb through April time frame, (It was for me) However, It has been a good thing. I and my entire family have enjoyed having Sunday's off (at least until late April) for Chuch and Family
If you have not already done so I would recommend all of you take the time to take your 8th grader to a JV game for the school he will attend before it is too late. most JV games at least in Cobb and Cherokee county end in Mid April
Ofcourse in the 14U group there will always be early tournaments |

IF you call that fortunate i pitty you, i guess you will also say he wants them to play for him during the summer. If youwant to enjoy a 20 game season vs a 60 game season against average talent be my guest. I have watched 3 school games this year and it is like big boy rec. Also they do not get the chance to use 6-7 pitchers like travel. They throw the same 3 kids each week from what i can tell. Oh and the 5-6 kids that do not get in a game? I bet they are glad they can not play on weekends as well. Enjoy your career from age 14-18 do not sell out for a self centered coach for nothing. |

Teddy,
The 5A High School he goes to encourages their students to play travel ball after the season is over which for JV is no later than mid to late April
The season from start to finish is only 75 days but it is an intense period of Baseball and frankly leads no time for travel
The problem for some parents is they have no voice or control regarding their child's role or playing time. His coaches do not even know my name but they know his and he is loving it and after all Baseball is for Players not the parents

Not really into predicting but I would be very surprised if atleast one of the Florida teams did not make it to the final 8, don't be surprised if both of them make it pretty deep on Sunday. |

I too wouldnt be suprised if CBC Storm Black or Central FLA Sting are playing late on Sunday. The pool game between PC Viper and Cent FLA Sting at 4 on Saturday will be entertaining. |

With TC's tiebreaker rules going to differential early, and the new splitting up of the brackets into Gold and Silver, teams will have to end pool play at 1-1 with a positive differential to get into the gold bracket. Some pools will be challenging, like Pool G, while there are 2 pools that look pretty weak. There may be a team or two that ends up in the Gold bracket that should be in the silver, but that happens all the time anyway.
However it works out, it looks like the weather is improving for the weekend and hopefully everyone gets to play some great baseball. |

FB Coach, You said it! It could very easily be a Florida final especially with the EC Titans not entered in this tourney. |

not sure about this. CBC Storm beat the Sting in the finals of a tournament in FLA recently 7-4. If their ace is around at the end of the tournament they could be hard to beat.
My Final 8 CBC Storm Vipers Stallions Sting Team Gwinnett Longhorns Team Rawlings
I wonder ultimately if the winner of the tournament will be mother nature with a 70% chance of rain Sunday. |

Cracked Bat your right. I left the Florida teams out of the elite 8 because I didn't know them. I've since done some research to enlighten myself and they look pretty strong. |

Everybody seems to hide predictions behind "I normally don't predict but.." so I thought it might be interesting to see what a real prediction on the Triple Crown Spring Frost tournament last of February shows.
Late February 2010 prediction by COLUMNIST on the Gold division for the Triple Crown Spring Frost tourney is below, with comments (yes) or (no) on whether prediction was accurate on Gold division:
Gold Division East Cobb Stallions (yes) Sharon Springs Spartans (yes) East Cobb Longhorns (yes) East Cobb Titans (yes) Kennesaw Mustangs (yes) East Cobb Astros (13) (no) Paulding County Vipers (yes) Powder Springs Seminoles (yes) East Cobb Warriors (yes) Coal Mountain Raiders (no)
And now for the actual Gold division in the Spring Frost tourney:
1) EC Stallions 2) PC Vipers (runner-up) 3) Astros Baseball 4) Milton Eagles 5) East Cobb Titans (winner) 6) East Cobb Longhorns 7) East Cobb Warriors 8) Powder Springs Seminoles 9) Kennesaw Mustangs 10)East Cobb Shamrocks 11)Sharon Springs Spartans
Moral of this story: COLUMNIST hit a smoking 80% accuracy on calling Gold division so let's hear from him or her.

Wow Jim Shwatz. I'm not sure your coach for the Titans would appreciate all of the trash talk about how great your ECB Titans are. Really puts a major target on the backs of your team. I'm sure your coach would like you to tone it down. The other teams and coaches are noticing and will remember it when things REALLY start to count. |

CBC wins this one is my prediction...They can flat out hit the ball and we have all seen the big boy pitch well over the past few years. CBC,PCV,ECL,ECS an all-alphabet final looks very realistic.
Someone discounted the Warhawks...don't sleep on them. Not saying they have the horses to win it, but they won't be anybody's Huckleberry either.
Which team will the Sting be bringing or will it be all 25? |

Yep EC will not play on wet fields, the upside and downside of nice fields. Cant even take ground balls on outfield during warmups
Winner of pool play wins, high dollar games this weekend |

Hmmmm, it appears one bracket is lost with the Sting playing for the Silver now. Good rebound by the Vipers. With Saturday done, Sunday is looking pretty interesting. |
