mdphwp, Thanks for the kind words, unfortunatly due to the bad weather so far this year our batting cage is not finished yet. Other than that the field is in awesome shape! |

Interesting first day at TC Spring Frost. Did that team from Lousiville really come all that way to play 3 games and not score. Gotta be a rough trip home. Coach Mark - Great start! Way to prove me wrong! Keep it up today! |

Its official. Team Georgia beat a very talented Bay Bombers team and wins the TC Spring Frost. Papa thought that Team Georgia looked great and played as least as good as I expected them too and maybe even better. They will be hard for my Bandits to handle and we might just stay in the 12U world so that we don't have to face such a juggernaut. Bay Bombers looked equally impressive and the championship could have went either way but Team Georgia took advantage and got some huge two out hits that turned the tide in their favor. Bombers attempted to make a spirited comeback and got as close as 7-5 but a 2 out 3run homer took the wind out of their sails and Team Georgia walked into victory lane 10-5.
But this wasn't the only great game that Papa saw. I saw a group called the Georgia Outlaws make a pretty good splash their first time out and even run ruled a top 10 Georgia team in the Holly Springs Express. If this Outlaw Bunch can find a way to cut down on the walks and errors then they can play with anybody. I watched the Express that by the way could have folded the tents and go home rise to the occassion and pushed Team Georgia to the limit finally losing 5-4 in what might be classified as one of the top games of the tournament.
This 11 year old division is as strong as it gets in Georgia and I am sure the Bay Bombers will agree. I had heard the Bay Bombers had gotten better and now have seen it first hand. Papa is thinking of building one them fences across the Florida line and keep these Florida rascals out of Georgia except I would give the ones that wanted to play with the Bandits a green card to get up here.
I saw many other great games in the 11U division and I can't wait to get back with this spirited group of kids that are just getting better and better. |

Congrats to Team GA and the Bombers for making the championship this weekend. Both teams showed an awesome display of power, pitching and defense making it to, and during, the big game. Team GA stood toe to to with the perennial powerhouse in our age group and dealt them a mighty blow. Very impressive for a first year team. I guess we can officially say that Team GA is for real. |

I had the Bombers, so hats off to Team Georgia. Are we ready to call Team GA an Elite team? Or, do we wait till they play the Bandits?
I didn't have the Jags or Wildcats going that far. The best Mr. Doubleday will allow me is a C+...75% accurate. Most weekends I get D's |

My hats off to the Sandy Plains Wildcats for making the semifinals. They were in the game with the Bombers early. They had a great tournament and look to be one of the most improved teams in our age group. We had a joint workout with them in the winter and they are a very impressive group. Just goes to show some of our local pundits should stick to their day jobs! great job Coach Mark and your staff. We look forward to playing you this year. Bradley Fitzgerald Holly Springs Express

I wondering why my team should even show up. Looks like we have no chance. Think Tony will give me our money back?
depends on what your goal is. if it is to compete, play against the best. find teaching moments to improve your team i would show up. if you honestly think you are walking out with hardware you may want to ask for your money back.

Best post I've seen this year and most accurate. Deciding who the so-called Elites are before the season, especially for 11u is futile (papa - that word means useless, or incapable of producing a result)
Since it's Monday and 11baseball11 asked us to call him on his predictions on Monday, here is a summary:
1. "I count 7 elite teams" - incorrect
Not sure who the 7 elites are. It looked to me like there were maybe 2 elites and a lot of parity after that from 3-14.
- Four teams went 2-0 - Four teams went 0-2 and two of these (Luck, Stars) beat the 1-1s to play for the Silver Championship
2. Jackets-Gold, Holly Springs, 643 Jags, and Team GA will go 2-0 in pool play. - incorrect on 3 out of 4
- Jackets-Gold lost to Venom - Holly Springs lost to Outlaws - 643 Jags lost Sharks - Team GA beat Destroyers & EC Stars
3. "The loser of cougars v titans will have to play one extra game as a direct result of that match-up" - incorrect
- 643 Cougars lost to ECB but still finished the 6th seed and received a bye
4. "Some team that had 2 elite teams will lose a shot at the top bracket by going 0-2" - incomplete
Not sure who the elite teams are but nobody played both Team GA and the Bombers in pool play
So, out of 6 predictions, only 1 was correct (16% accuracy). I'm picking on 11baseball11 because he gave us clearance to call him on it in his post but this could be applied to most who think they know what teams have before the season begins. I think we learned that there will be a lot of parity in GA at 11u this year so let's just have fun and play ball.

I watched them Bill and they are no doubt an elite team and they don't have to play the Bandits to prove it. They took the best the Bay Bombers had to offer and beat them back. But then again they went to the wire winning 5-4 against Holly Springs that got run ruled by the Georgia Outlaws. We can type words until our fingers fall off but the game of baseball can't be figured out. It is the most unpredictable game ever invented. Before we finally know who is the best the games will have to be played on the field between the lines and that it is the way it should be. |

Great point Brad. I love to see a team suprise people, especially when other people try to doubt them. We all know 11 year old kids can have one crazy game and beat ANYBODY....Congrats Team GA |

Stinger, Hope that made you feel better but we didn't hear a peep before the games from you. I may have been wrong on some points but the only real predition was loser playes one extra game, and I was close, off by one seed. To say that only the teams in the ship are elite is wrong also. Team GA winning by 1 over Holly Springs, Bay Bombers by 2 over Stars. Way too many close games to say only 2 teams are elite, one hit here or there and they both could have gone down at some point. Jackets had a bad weekend but I wouldn't count on that being the norm from them and I thought the Jags looked like they had depth. Alot of teams were much improved which was a surprise to more than just me and should make every play that much more important if you want to make it to the ship. I guess we can say you predict Team GA will win them all given your evaluation. Can we hold you to that since you decided to join in so late? |

The Wildcats/Bombers game was 7-3 at the end of 4, and Sandy Plains had bases loaded and kid just missed grand slam to tie the game. Then Bombers added to lead in 5th to get to 12-3 final. Sandy Plains again loaded bases in 5th but could not get the runs needed to extend game. Game was closer than score indicates, but Bombers still had better team. |

stinger sounds like a Monday morning quarterback to Papa. We can all call them after they have been played. I didn't predict anything so you can't call me out. I have always said and will say it again, this 11U group is full of good teams. And if Sandy Plains surprised anybody if would only be the people that didn't know them. It didn't surprise me at all. There is always one or two teams that come out of nowhere and this year it appears to be the Georgia Outlaws and Sandy Plains. Both have a lot to be proud of. Now they should go back to work, tighten things up and get ready for the next one. Thanks for the definition of futile stinger. I thought it meant that I couldn't have any more babies to carry on the legacy of beating you guys but my wife said that was fertile. |

The point of my email was not to point out bad predictions. The point was that it's futile to make predictions right now because you have no idea what teams are made of, which was Justin Case's point. It's one thing to pick a top 4, it's another thing to start picking elite teams and talking about match-ups, and good/bad draws right now. I picked on you because you're the one who said, "Call me on it mon. if I'm wrong". By your response, I guess you didn't really mean that. I'll be the first to admit I didn't know what you would be wrong about, just that you would be wrong. . . just like everybody else. |

I think the Bombers hit 5 HRs off of us. They have some great hitters. Great team. I'm sure they'll do some damage at the Super NIT. |
