643 goals are to develop baseball players , yes they may loose a few games but when it gets down to the end they are prepared . I commend Danny and his staff for teaching the game the way they do.

Papa keeps hearing about these Titans. I watched a movie one time called "Remember the Titans". Sounds like they may give us something to remember them by this time around. Papa wishes them luck against all that they play but the Bandits.

Papa, The Titans keep hearing about that indoor field you guys have and think you should share with us. We are on our second set of flippers and are busy sharpening our ice skates for this week.

Our indoor facility is in a place called "Area 51" and unauthorized personnel is not allowed. We would invite you up for some live scrimmages on our outside field located in a cow pasture up the road. From what I hear you guys don't need any extra practice anyway.

What if we had our own space ship? If the ball gets caught under a cow patty is it a ground rule double? LOL
The games are getting close and I for one can't wait. I will be rooting for your Bandits at the slugfest against that strong 12u field. I think all strong teams benefit from playing up because it slowes the game down when you come back to your own age group. Best of luck to you guys

We leave the schedule to Coach Troy but to be honest Papa worries that we (The Bandits) might be biting off a lot more than we can chew in the 12U division especially so when we get to the Slugfest with the Jaguars and Astros and many other great 12U teams. But then again the worst case scenario is that we get fed a little humble pie.

I think even if we get thrased that our kids will react the right way and go back to practice and work on the things that we fell short on. I believe that in the long run this will be a positive experience win or lose.

If you look at my past posts I have always said that the losses can sometimes teach us more about ourselves than the wins ever do. To be honest I am so excited about getting to play that I don't even give a darn about the rest.

Some food for thought, Bombers in FLA are playing more than we are now so they may be tough early. Cougars have been doing a lot of indoor work also, the GA Jackets have their own indoor facilty with pro-coaches and the Titans coach is also very big on practice and will find somewhere for his team to get going.

So considering the weather, the teams that are best prepared will be ready out of the gate early and those 4 will probably show the most early.

Papa, If you win all the time, the boys aren't being pushed enough. Not many teams that can jump into that kind tournament and even have a chance at a win. It will just make it harder for the rest of us to keep up. The real challenge will come to the 12u major teams that you beat,if you do,knowing they got beat by an 11u team.

ESEC2100 is right. That is exactly what happened to the Bandits last year when we played the Mizuno Glory. They were fully ready and we were 1/2 prepared. Coach Troy is trying his best to see that this doesn't happen this year.

I'm with you an this one PaPa. How can you not have a Cooperstown finalist in the top 4 of a local tourney? I won't name my final 4 until later on when I know who's in, but the Cougars will be in my final 4.

OK Moser, time to put those picks out there so people can hear what the master thinks.

I'll predict Bay Bomers take first, then these three in no order:

ECB Titians
6-4-3-Cougars
Jackets-Gold

unknow teams (Jersey Blackhawks & Xplosion)could come into play, but I'll assume they are just coming south to play ball during the winter

I wont make any final predictions until I see the Pool Play Draws.
Early on for me Bay Bombers are still the favorite
Team GA, ECB Titans, both 643 in any order
Jackets Gold look very good also

Haven't seen a good baseball team from Dunwoody in years so they are out.

The rest are all about the same with a couple of wins but no threat.
I wont hold my breath on these other out of state teams until I see they have paid their money.
The good news is if I didn't pick you team to do good then you probably will.

Very interested to see how Team Georgia competes now everyone is at full strength. They had a strong showing in the fall and should be an exciting team to watch. Can't wait for this weekend's upcoming Spring Frost at ECB - looks like awesome weather at an awesome facility. Most every major Team has improved and upgraded so it will be very interesting come Sunday night to really see where everyone stands. My Final four: Bombers; 643 Cougars; Jackets Gold; 643 Jags/Team Georgia (pick-em)who knows at this point - but we'll know come Sunday night and this blog will be on fire next week to where Papa and Moser might even have some competition (blogatition).

That's one loaded tournament! To me, the 11U major group is one of the most competitive around, good luck to everyone this weekend!

Even though Papa's middle name is "Nostradamus" I have made it a point to keep my nose out of this predicting stuff. I will tell you that my mind says Team Georgia, my heart says 643 Cougars or Bay Bombers and my stupidity says who are these other teams and can they pull off a major upset. I do agree that this forum will be lit up like a Christmas tree next week after the dust settles on this one.

Picking anything prior to pool/brackets being released is fun, but it's also pure folly. What if Bombers, Team GA, 6-4-3C, HS Express all draw each other in the first bracket game? That would be a bracket buster. Some teams will have a much easier path to the final 4 than others. I prefer to predict Thursday morning, when I'm not flying blind.

I'm pleasantly surprised that the Dacula Falcons made it to the finals last weekend in Hidden Valley. NOBODY mentioned them (not even me and I know they're solid + I'm a Gwinnett homer). Not to take anything away from them, but as an illustration of my bolded comment above, go back and study their path to the finals. It was no cakewalk, but they were able to avoid the top 3 teams until they reached the finals. The pool draw and bracket alignment is huge in forecasting outcomes. I always review tournament results backwards, from the finals back through the brackets, and back to the pool games. A good, but not great, team with an ez path can wind up in the finals.

depends on what your goal is. if it is to compete, play against the best. find teaching moments to improve your team i would show up. if you honestly think you are walking out with hardware you may want to ask for your money back.

CoachMark:
With the right pool and bracket alignment, and with great play and good bounces at just the right moments, you can win.

Lets play back the Hidden Valley scenario from last weekend, Let's say you don't have to play 3 of the top 4 teams in the pool or brackets (until the finals). 3 of these top 4 knock each other out. Then, you're suddenly in the finals versus the only remaining top 4 team. For some reason, their hits don't find the holes, and yours do. You get the calls and they don't.

We were the #5 seed in hoops tourney last week of 6 teams. Wound up losing the 'ship in OT. 1 more call or bounce, and we win. Glad we showed up, and brought our hope with us.

I'm sure you'll do the same.

That's a little rough there isn't it Mr. ShutOut?? No team enters a tourney without thinking they stand a chance. But seriously I know that the Bay Bombers have gotten a lot stronger with 2 maybe 3 new kids that are extremely good. And I know every single kid on Team Ga and they are STACKED!! Depending on the draws and when they have to burn good pitching the Bay Bombers and Team Ga are the 2 best teams in the tourney. The 643 teams are as well if not better coached than anybody, but batting all 12 kids will continue to hurt them, as I think it would any team.
