The Rookies are signed up to play Triple Crown in April so I am sure they will be in both.

They impressed me last Fall against some very strong groups of boys, and Major/Elite caliber pitchers. I'd put them in my top 20 in the State for 11u. I think they went something like 13-2 in Fall. I know they lost to Collins Hill Green in the finals of 1 tourney, and I think either Duluth or GA Select beat them in a pool game in another. I think they won 2 of the 3 tourneys they entered, and lost in the finals of the other.

Are they good? - Yes they are very good if it is the same team from the Fall. If they improve in the Spring like a lot of teams do when their football players come back then I'd say they are going to be really scary then. Based on this fall I think they are capable of competing with some major class teams.

Papa and the Bandits look forward to playing the Rookies as so far they have not been at any of our tournaments. Have they played any major or have they kept things at the AAA level. Have they beaten any major teams.

In Fall, the only Major "teams" that played were Team GA (used subs in 1 tourney I know of), GA Select Red/Blue mixture, Jackets Gold/White mixture, Sharon Springs Blue/Midway Dirty Dawgs mixture, you get the idea. I might be missing a few. I use the word "teams" loosely due to all the subs and combined teams. There were Major talent players, but few Major teams totally intact.

I cant recall who all they beat, but they beat our AAA team (w/ 2 Elite pitchers/players subs) which shocked me. We played a solid game committing just 1 error, and got beat 5-3.

I may not classify them as Major's (which USSSA now defines as top 15 in the State), but I'd place them in the top 5 of AAA. They are capable of hitting Elite pitching, so this is why I see them as being capable of beating Major teams.

Baseballpapa there are Major teams and then there are Elite Major teams. I consider teams like the Bandits, Sandtown RedSox, 643 Cougars, etc. Elite Major teams. So when I say they can possibly compete with major teams I mean the non-elite major teams. I'm not sure they have the depth to compete with guys like the Bandits. But defensively they were fantastic. I only saw the one game in which we played against them, but I do know several of the teams they beat to win 2 out of 3 tournaments this fall.

Ditto - I agree with bmoser about the Rookies. I had forgot that after reclassifications there are only a few major teams.

For all you guys trying to figure at the Cartersville Rookies (by the way their High School has posted back to back STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS and the last one over Mr. Bobby Howards #6 Nationally ranked team.) they are very simply. They are a group of kids who #1 love each other and #2 want to test the waters else where. But we will let their bats and arms do all their talking in about 45 days and counting. Parting commemt someone needs to test the waters in Cartersville because baseball has taken over. Look out East Cobb!!!!!!!!!! We are reloading again.

hotbat12: You will not be able to count what the High School is doing and it will make no difference to the Rookies when they hit the field. The Bandits and I am sure East Cobb look forward to another challenge and I am sure the Rookies will represent Cartersville well but you shouldn't count the wins before you get them. Has Cartersville got an elite tournament coming in the 11U division. If they do I am sure the Bandits would love to give it a shot. Post here and let us know what is available so we can get it in our schedules.

Will you be playing at Heritage Park. This is one of the Bandits favorite places in the world to play but we don't get to play their that much. You get the competition there and the Bandits would love to play. There are not a lot of baseball people that know how nice the Dalton fields are.

Baseballpapa: I want to make it very clear to you that I did not even metion a game won more less a tournament won. All I wanted to do is let people know that this team has real potential. They are a good group of kids and parents that I have been watching for the last year or so. They might not even win anything but they just need a chance to mature and prove themselves worhty of even playing with you guys. There is a code that the Huricanes LIVE and DIE by. And that is talk is CHEAP!!!!!! I feel their coaching staff wants nothing more but a chance and no more. I am just a person that loves baseball and can't wait to see how they handle real competition. Look forward for the REAL DEAL! By the Way I HEAR THAT IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS THAT DALTON WILL BE UNDER A HURRICANE WARNING!!!!!!!!!!

SouthernBaseball: You know Coach Troy about as good as Papa. Remember Mr. Ed, the horse that could talk. Troy is the same as Mr. Ed but in a different part of the horse family that some people call Mule.

Baseballpapa.....We actually have 9 teams committed for our Blue Grey Tourney Msrch 12-14. I would think if the Bandits got in others would come play at Heritage Point. Thanks for the plug on our fields in Dalton.

I have actually been posting for a long time and telling all that would listen that Heritage is one the best venues in Georgia. It is one of cleanest and well kept parks in the state and is still relatively new and if I am not mistaken able to put 8-10 fields into play with their temporary fencing. I would think if someone could pull Heritage, Jack Mattox, and the other fields in Dalton together that a State or maybe even World Series type event could be pulled off.

We actually have Albert Rollins Park which are some of the nicest fields around for 8-10 U games. Bandits may be jumping in Blue-Grey..just a rumor but will post as soon as we hear back from Coach.

Should know by tomorrow night but we may have Bandits Baseball and Sandtown Red Sox playing in the Blue-Grey. If so we will split 11U division into silver and gold after pool play!

Any update? Will they be playing 11u? Some of the other early tournaments have some stiffer competition signed up but the Bandits are still playing 12u. I would imagine Sandtown would do the same looking at the current field.

This does look like a tournament with momentum though and one of the best events on that weekend
