I have just noticed that the Georgia Invitational being hosted by Superior Baseball Events will allow the winner of this tournament in the 10u and 11u division FREE entry into the Memorial Day Elite Invitational.
In a failing economy and with all the hype about TD's just being in the business for the money looks as if this organization has found a way to give back to those that support there tournaments. As everybody knows the Memorial Day Elite has the best teams from in Ga. and the best teams from the surrounding states. I think with teams wanting to play quality teams and with the chance to win free entry into another tournament the Georgia Invitational on March 27-28 would be the way to go. Some great teams are in this tournament now like Mill Creek Hawks, Georgia Select Red and Navy and the Collins Hill Eagles and it is sure to fill up fast. I know I would love to play tournaments that are quality with the chance to gain free entry into another tournament.
What do you think about this concept Papa and bmoser is this the direction baseball is headed. If it worked out and alot of TD's would do this it looks as if you could play ball for free alot based on wins!! |

Papa has always liked that word "free". But on a serious note I have spoke several times with this TD and talked to several other baseball people about him. He seems to know the game of baseball and has experienced first hand what we are going through as he has already been down this road with his son's.
He is extremely easy to contact and shares and communicates his feelings about baseball very well. I think he and his organization will do very well due to this and look forward to playing in several of his events. |

I've been racking my brain trying to come up with tourney venues for this great baseball Dad-turned-Tourney-Director. He's been to the mountain top of youth baseball and can tell us what he saw and learned.
Our own park needs some upgrades, which are now underway (thanks to a very bright and energetic Mom), but wont be completed this year. If you know of any underutilized venues, please reach me off-line or go to Superior Baseball Events web site and click on the contact us tab.
I hope Signature Park invites him in once they get it all up and running. Great venue + great Tourney Director = value & fun.
I cant wait to see who else gets invited to the qualifier. That Green team will be a handful this year. |

I got to watch the East Cobb Titans and Prime Time at the TC Fall State and I can tell you that I think both of these teams can hang. I would love to see the new formed Colts get in the mix at the Georgia Invitational. With all the great talk about the North Ga. Cougars I would hope that they play also. To tell you the truth there are alot of great teams that can play at the elite level on any given day like Venom Baseball or Georgia Elite so I hope they go and compete at the Georgia Invitational so that we might get to play these great teams at the Memorial Day Invitational.
I can't just stop there because I think alot of these teams are worth mentioning like 643 Jags, Sandy Pains Wildcats and Chain Dirt Dawgs. The list is endless on great teams Ga. has to offer and I just think this is a great opportunity to go prove there greatness. |

Papa has told you all from my first post that Georgia is as tough a place to play and win as any state in the nation. The way our Georgia teams are chosen and built makes for a lot of parity with local talent for the most part being the key to the parody. I have noticed several teams including the Bandits pull from a larger area. If you are planning on competing on the national level this will become more and more common and the area will become larger and larger. |

I have played in a few tournaments this TD has put on. They are always ran smoothly and professionally. I have talked to him extensively about baseball and what is involved in taking boys to a much higher level. I enjoy talking to someone who is not giving just an opinion, but is sharing his experience.
I am fully planning on playing as many Nations tournaments as I can this season. I also agree with papa and 10bb. If you can win in Georgia you can win most anywhere. This season is going to be eye opening for a lot of teams I believe. |

Papa who are they the Scorpions or are they the Colts?
Also don't you think the North Georgia Cougars would do good in this tournament? |

Its interesting to see that you guys are controlling who is and isnt a viable team in Georgia. Kind of a members only group? I cant wait to see this speculation and elitest mentality proven on the field. Obviously the bandits have proven themselves, But guys, you have no Idea what all these new teams, reconstructed teams etc are gonna do ? You have no idea what kids on these different teams have grown , gotten stronger , faster, better, and what boys have lost interest in BB gotten burned out, found other interest or their family has economicaly been pushed away from baseball. You guys are jumping the gun, and precluding many teams and boys on your speculation?
These early , Before the season speculations on who is worthy and who can play in these so called elite invitation only tourneys are IMHO preclusive and without justification. And I find it offensive. Im sure you could care less what I think :-)
This has no place in youth baseball.
Please let the rest of us know when you think we can play |

BBall123; I care what you think a would love for you to prove how good your team is, that's what tournaments are all about. If I have offended you please except my apology, it was not my intention. I tried to name as many teams as I could think of and undoughtably I have left your sons off. I am from Fl. and have competed against teams from all over the country but can tell you that I feel there is no better ball being played than that in Georgia. Please go to the superiorbaseballevents.com site and join in this great tournament that will be held March 27-28, I know the efforts this TD has put forth and can guarantee it to be a well run tournament. |

Agree BBall123! Not to say that some of these people dont know baseball, but when some of these dominate 10's go from 46 ft. to 50 ft. it will level the playing field so to speak. Example, played in a 10u tournament in Ala. last year against a kid who was burning up our boys. Saw him pitch up in a 11u tournament, and get hammered. That 4 ft can make a big difference. Just something to think about. |

BBall123: I agree and disagree with your post. I have not read where anyone is attempting to rate who is viable and who is not. What I did read was that based on past performance that what was thought to be some elite teams were invited to this tournament. Nothing wrong with taking what you have witnessed and making a educated decision on who you think is the best teams out there.
All this could be is an educated guess by some really good baseball people and this brings me to the part that I 100% totally agree with you. There is no way that any of us, moser included that will pick these teams and be right on the money. You are right that there will be many teams that have gotten stronger and will be overlooked but at this point all you can do is judge from a team's past performances.
I am not very good at judging so have not gotten too involved in this part of the tournament but I have had the opportunity to have watched most of the invited teams play against my Bandits and do not disagree that most (and I admit not all) of these teams earned the right to be invited. I also totally agree with you that once the teams overlooked have the opportunity to show their stuff that some of us including me will be eating our pre-season words. |

BB123,
I openly disagree with you. Let me start by saying there is no perfect science behind judging, selecting, ranking, etc. Everything in baseball is subjective and will always be. That's just baseball. If something like this offends you, you are going to have a hard time down the road. From HS try-outs to college scout days to the entire pro scouting system. Everything is subjective. At some point other factors come into play: a track record, consistency, coaching, player history, body types, etc. My only point is, someone is always going to feel they got left out. You have to be thick skinned in baseball. Don't be offended, do something about it to develop your player/team to outplay the next kid/team. You have several more years of tournaments to play.
I think this TD is doing a great job. He has the history and experiences to make good decisions. |

10 BB , I dont even know who is in the tourney?? Heck we might even be in this tourney?? I just think its jumping the gun at this point in the season( heck we are not even in the season yet)and you guy's are saying who is and who isnt good enough? We all know the bandits are the measuring stick around here and you guys have a pretty good team, but give the rest of us a chance to prove it on the field before you guys decide a group of boys are not good enough to be in a tourney, and that go's for superior baseball too.And you dont owe me any appoligys 10 BB , I know you and know you love your sons and baseball and are a good man and did not meen any harm.We too have played all over this country since 7u and have been in 3 world series finals winning one and coming in second twice, one of those times was to your bombers. Come on spring time lets play some baseball :-) quote: Originally posted by 10 BB

Contrar mon frere; I never said anything about any team not being good enough. On the Superior Baseball Events website it clearly says send us an email to request an invite. Furthermore I have tried to be as respectful to all of the great teams out there. As far as Superior inviting teams to the Memorial Day Invitational on May 29 was a must because the TD wanted to try and bring in some great out of state teams and this requires early planning and all he could go off of was past history.
Both of these tournaments are bringing recognition to your state. I don't even live there and would do what I can to help make them a success all for the sake of the game of baseball. In life there is always going to be those that are better and those that are not as good, thats reality. The one thing I have attempted to do is build all of the teams up and not put any team or person down. I choose the high road and would love to help you in assisting your team in getting an invite to the great tournament being held on March 27-28 the Georgia Invitational. |

You guys are totaly missing my point. Mr. Ward this has nothing to do with whether my son or his team is or isnt being developed or in this tourney. Our schedules are set, we know what we want to do for this season. I just dont think you can accurately predetermine who the top teams are this year at this point,And in the process of picking these teams on speculation you are more than likely precluding teams that deserve to be there as much as anyone.
I guess by mid season we will know whether im right or not.Paint me as being someone disgruntled for being left out if you want, but thats just not the case.
Everyone has a right to their own opinions , I have shared mine. You certainly have a right to Agree or disagree and state yours.

I don't see any problem with this tournament or who was invited. I might even ride up there that weekend if we don't play to watch some of it. |

Well Fellas, after thinking this thing over. I must admit that I "do" see your points of veiw, I guess I got ahold of some sour corn flakes the day I responded to this thread :-x I know that it takes allot of time and preperation to put something like this together, and conflicting schedules, travel arraingments Etc. can keep teams from being able to attend an event like this at mid season. I talked with our head coach about this touney and, We are hosting a tourney that same weekend? so I kind of answered myself as to why it should be done so early when looking at our own schedule. And after reading this again and seeing this statement (To tell you the truth there are alot of great teams that can play at the elite level on any given day like Venom Baseball or Georgia Elite so I hope they go and compete at the Georgia Invitational so that we might get to play these great teams at the Memorial Day Invitational.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I stand corrected on the issue. I hope this is fantastic tournament for all that can attend.
LETS PLAY SOME BASEBALL,This has been a long winter, TO MUCH TALKING ALLOWS TO MUCH TIME TO PUT YOUR FOOT IN YOUR MOUTH ;-0 |
