According to my dictionary, crazy can mean insane or very enthusiastic and eager. Insane means mentally ill or deranged by my same dictionary. So we will rule out the first definition because anyone that would pour this much into children cannot be insane.
All groups of coaches and parents carry on and have differences of opinion in their discussions about their teams, games, players, etc. As long as I have been involved with youth sports it has been going on and it continues through high school, college and the pros. Immanuel Kant said something like: "when people see the same thing happen, they see it with different eyes and remember different things - although they all saw the same thing." Now he died in 1804, but he could have used today's youth sports as a clinic.
Now using the second definition, very enthusiastic and eager we are going to have to put our posters in that category. They obviously are eager for the season to begin and have a tremendous passion for the game. There probably is more baseball "savvy" in our community than anywhere else and so we are crazy about our sport and are willing to discuss it at length.
What sets the 11u group apart is that a large number of them take the time to put their opinions down in writing. That takes more effort and shows a commitment to their feelings. This dialog educates and helps all of us see different sides and opinions to a situation. Most of the time we put more thought into expressing our opinions in writing than just making a verbal comment.
Yes, sometimes things get carried away, but I enjoy your passion for the game. |

Good observation! The 11U group are much more active posters than any other age class. Just look at how many different folks got involved in the mystery Elite tourney string. More posters = more interesting.
Those of us that participate (just read, or write) want to learn as much as possible about the game. I think we're all a bit wiser for it. |
