Papa;
Im thinking that this tournament will be the tournament for the Southeast. Lets stay hush, hush for now and let the power of competition work. I think that this tournament director is one that has been to the top of the mountain and knows what it takes to put on a heck of a tournament.

I feel that just like the Bombers, the Bandits are tournament hunting not trophy hunting. I can't wait every game will be a battle!!

10bb: As you know Papa has been privileged to watch the best 11U baseball in America in action. I have watched so much that it takes a lot to get me excited or worked up over any one tournament. I have had the pleasure of speaking with the person that will be putting this tournament on and can say without hesitation that I am as excited about this event as any in awhile. If you feel like your team deserves a invite to this type event then let it be known on this site so the Director of this tournament can take a look at your teams credentials. Whatever happens in this one I can promise that it will be a blast and a ton of fun just to watch. I fully expect that many of the top 11U players in America will be on display for all to see.

Tell your boys that Papa says hello and that I can't wait to see you all again.

Like Papa said , if you think your team can hang with teams like the Bandits then put it on this thread. This tournament is an invitation only so this is the place to promote your team. This will be a true Elite Tournament as every game will be a battle. Not one team will be able to coast or hold back in any game. We will see the best the best the East has to offer in the 10u and 11u divisions.

A tournament is being put together to be played Memorial Day weekend 2010. It will be an invitational tournament of the best 10u and 11u teams that can be enticed to participate. The 11u field already has some very strong teams committed from GA and the surrounding states. I'm not sure who is on the wish list though. I hope someone lets the details out of the bag soon. It would be fun to talk about.

The full details have not yet been worked out but I can tell you this. In my opinion if the teams being invited can come then the tournament will be the strongest Papa has ever been involved in including Cooperstown with the difference being there can be no coasting like you see in Cooperstown until Wednesday night. So in other words this will be like playing the last 4 games at Cooperstown without the warm ups.

In my opinion the tournament in Memphis, TN was not nearly as strong as I expect this one to be if the teams being invited can find a way to come and like 10bb said some of the best teams in the nation have already committed.

I can say my interest is up. When the specifics come out, I would like to come out and play. We are always interested in trying our luck with the best competition. What organization is putting this on?

The teams so far are;

1. Bay Bombers (FL)

2. Carolina Angels (NC)

3. Georgia Bandits (GA)

4. Knoxville Stars (TN)

5. MBA Pride (FL)

6. Team Georgia (GA)

7. Sandtown Red Sox (GA)

8. West Tennessee Wildcats (TN)

and they will only take 4 more teams but it is an invite only.

Now that you have finally released some details we are interested. I have never heard of someone trying to promote a tournament by keeping it secret ? At least we have a date from Bandit13 and now some teams from 10bb. Could we possibly get a location or is that still a secret. We would love the challenge if invited but would need a few more small details like location before we could commit. Are they not awarding trophies for this tourney? This seems like a tourney worthy of trophies.

Tentatively, the tournament will be held in Winder with hopes of securing an arrangement with Signature Park near Braselton.

baseballbrad; That's just it, the TD was not trying to promote this Tournament. That is what makes it an invite only. He has 4 spots left with 3 invites waiting on confirmation and will probably save the last one until the start of the spring season.

This TD is doing things the right way. I for one appreciate how he has set it up. He is only playin a 24 team tournament in only two age groups. He will try and make it the best tournament for those two divisions and I think it is an outstanding concept.

I heard that there is a lot of interest from the Texas and Oklahoma teams. If this could happen this could be a true national event. There is no secret to the event. If your teams meets the qualifications then I am sure the TD will get in touch with you and issue an invitation. The problem is that there are limited spaces available and there does seem to be a lot of interest from some truly awesome teams. I would hate to know that I had to make the decision on what teams to invite as we can't even decide who the best in Georgia is.

An invitational is much different than a open tournament. What the director is trying to make happen is something we have all wrote about for a long time and that is to get all of the nationally ranked teams in the same place at the same time. It's most likely never going to happen so the next best thing is to get as many of the best as you can and see how it shakes out.

Proof to my point is last years Cooperstown NY 10U event. Many of the best teams were there but not all. The championship in Memphis where Sandtown represented had many of the best but not all. Disney had a lot of great teams but many were missing. Due to the expense of travel ball all of us have to choose the best tournament we can find and then decide if we can fit our team budget to the event.

I can't wait to see how many coaches come out to promote their teams for an invitation-only tournament, at a location TBD, that nobody is supposed to know about (kept in the bag), and appears to have invited all the best teams before a single game has been played in the 2010 season. Sounds like this tournament is truly "doing things the right way".

Stinger; The 2010 season started Aug.1/09 and yes it is the best teams that have competed in the southeast (key word being COMPETED). The TD is making every effort to make this a great tournament for the teams involved. How many tournaments have had games where the champions run ruled every team including the championship game? I will gaurantee that not to happen in this tournament!

Most of all the only people to talk about it are parents of teams already in. Are we not supposed to be proud to be invited to such a tough tournament. Are we not supposed to be thankful that our sons teams have done what it takes to be known as as an Elite team. The TD hasn't come on this forum and said anything it's all parents talking. The hush, hush is because the TD doesn't want teams that don't deserve to be in it calling him. Why do you think Papa and I have said promote your team here!

Lastly I/we just thought it would be fun to talk about this tournament till it gets here. I personally had no intention of making you Stinger or anybody else upset because you ethier didn't get an invite or you don't know about the tournament, just wanted to have casual and competitive conversation about it.

Then why did you come on the web and promote it? I totally understand what an invitational tournament is? Believe it or not we've actually played in a few. I was just confused why you would label the discussion forum "keep the cat in the bag" and then let the cat out of the bag. That was the reason for me using the word "secret" Papa. No hard feelings if we don't get an invite but I wasn't nor would I promote my team on this board or anywhere else. I was just expressing an interest if any details became available. Sounds like the Bombers are a really good team. good luck next year

Well I would hate to have told you something that was top secret,I dont think you would ever work for the CIA.I think you did let the cat out of the bag.
To me it is a shame if this tourney is going to be played at Signature Park not any other Georgia teams to be invited to play at this new park. All we hear about is how great Georgia baseball is ,so why are yall having to go outside the state to find teams, and some of the teams listed are great teams, but i also know that there are some great teams here in Ga. that can play with the ones listed, Bandits, Sandtown ,and MBA are truly great teams, the rest are just teams that are great but , not TRULY great,.
So , I hope MR.TD that yall of your invites are accepted and you dont have to ask one of these second class teams to enter your tourney, because that would be shame to play with us ,since some teams around here dont run rule every game, so, I hope the CAT IN THE BAG TOURNEY doesnt turn out to be a FIZZLE.

10BB - this tournament sounds like a nice Elite event and you should be proud that your team has been invited. This thread, however, reads silly to me from start to finish. Perhaps it would have been better with a title "Elite SE Tournament" and started with more specifics and had less contradictions. I'm guessing the cat came out of the bag a little too early on this one.

The 2 largest tourneys this fall were the Triple Crown and USTBA in Georgia. Team Georgia (new team) played in one and got run ruled by the Bandits in the Triple Crown. So I wonder what resume you are looking at when sending invites?

Actually this thread was a thread for me to talk to Papa about this tournament but it seems that everyone else has chimed in. It is amazing when someones team isn't looked at as the same as the Bandits.

This is the deal, it will not be played at the new beloved Signature Park, it will be played in Winder and hopefully if it is a success will be moved in years to come in Signature Park. This will be an Elite Tournament that will in the future hopefully be looked at as a destination for a year ending tournament. Be thankful that it is being played in Ga. If it were nothing but Ga. teams it would just be another tournament that is put on every weekend.

All of you are getting to worked up over this. It is an Elite Tournament that will only have 12 spots in the 11u division. The TD wants the top teams in this tournament. You ask about Team Ga. I for one saw them play at the TC Fall State and will tell you that they possess what it takes to be an elite team. They did get run ruled by the Bandits but I will say they had to face probably the top 11u pitcher in the country. Not to mention one of the top catchers in the country along with what was one of the best hitting displays I've seen in a long time.

You think the cat is out of the bag, have I named the TD or the organization. Have I told of the great things that will go along with this tournament. You guys complain about the TD's just care about the money then when a tournament is being put on to represent the top teams and that it is about giving back, here comes the complaints again.

I will say this though, if Team Georgia's invited, how can you not also invite 6-4-3 Cougars?

6-4-3 has been invited

My son plays for the Bandits and he has played 2 tournaments with Team GA this past Fall. IMO, Team GA deserves to be invited. They are loaded with strong players and good coaching. They have the potential to beat anyone at this tournament. I didn't invite them or anyone else to this tournament, JMHO.

Before playing the Bandits in the TC Fall State, Team GA had averaged 10+ runs per game only giving up around 3 per game during this tournament. They are legit.
