Why is USTBA classifying these teams as major, aaa, and aa.I thought this was USSSA system.I thought USTBA had their own way and when in tournaments they have a American and National brackets,is this changing? Is the major teams gonna be group together or will it be mixed up? Its funny that the host of this tourney is listed as aa team.

I don't think I'd be talkin the talk if my team went home as early as 643 did in the TC. First your own Jags team sent home your "A" team and then the Jackets throttled the Jags 11-1. It sounds like some of those changes hurt the chemistry. What would have been a walk in the park last year has turned into a walk in a mine field. We all need to realize last year was last year and this year we'll all have to prove ourselves again. Can we just fast forward to spring and play some ball?

A lot of people don't realize that the head Guru at 643 doesn't always play to win. His focus is about teaching ALL of his players the game of baseball. I've seen him enter a tournament and tell all of his players that they will be batting opposite handed for the tournament. They stick to it, win or lose. I'm not saying this is what happened at TC because I did not see their games. Just keep in mind that it's a possibility.

I believe the host of the tournament is trying to say this is a tournament that has plenty of different levels of talent so it wont scare away teams that might not normally play Major level tournaments.
I also don't think the AA team you are talking about hosting is their number one team or is hosting the tournament. The Wildcats team is the one hosting. IMHO?

Blowinsmoke is correct about USTBA not classifying but HITANDRUN also has it right on both of his notes. I (Wildcats Mgr am not USTBA) listed out their class for informational purposes so a AA or AAA team would know they could play teams of their own caliber, even after pool play. This is an advantage of a USTBA tournament. And my team is one of the hosts of the tournament.

The Sandy Plains Prowlers are a new team and have self classified as AA. I believe Duluth may be officially listed as AA but they play better than that in my opinion. Same goes for GA Jackets. They were AAA last year but clearly have played as a Major team in the Fall.

Sorry if anyone was confused by this. I was just trying to give more information.

Finally, I believe Acworth may now be playing as well so we have 9 teams. I believe we can take 10 but you must sign up today.

I see that Acworth is now in the mix. Put them down as a team that nobody is talking about. They got their 2 pitchers back from the Sharks which combined with their big bats should make them a tough team.

Waiting to see the pool play before predictions but I'm thinking Titans will take this one.

I see a lot of 1-1 teams coming out of pool play which could get a major team in the lower bracket. I wonder who that might be?

Looks like HP may have gotten the toughest draw but I think they can handle it. Could be the best 2 games of pool play.

I thought acworth had a pretty good team when I saw them this fall. This is probably the best non talked about team out there. Nobody has mentioned the SP Wildcats yet but they should be pretty competitive also. Got to keep in mind it is a fall tournament and I am sure some kids will be picked up just so teams can play this late in the season. Plus the football playoffs are still going on. My pick is the scorpions.

Papa can tell you all from experience that you had better not overlook either 643 team. In this game of youth baseball there is nothing and remember that I said nothing more important than great coaching and there are many teams and we play for two that have great coaches but only a select few can out coach these 643 guys. What you should do is prepare your kids the best you can and hope for the best and not worry much at all what the other guys are doing or not doing for that matter. Get your team as ready as they can be and step between the lines and give your best and the baseball gods will take care of the rest.

I believe Acworth got THREE nice arms (2 coming back to Acworth) from the Sharks. Don't hold me to it, but that's the word on the "street". Good pitching, great defense and a solid hitting team.

This is NOT Acworth's travel team.

We had six or seven 11u open practice for our rec kids and they wanted to end in a tournament. We were in a rec tournament but it was canceled due to lack of teams. The kids were VERY disappointed so we found them another. This was pretty much are only option to play this weekend.

Some of these kids have played a summer or two of all-stars and some haven’t, not one has played travel. I know this tournament is LOADED with great teams. This should give the kids something to build off of.

I would also like to say that everyone I have spoke with involved in making this tournament happen has been very helpful.

I hate that you have the toughest draw ,ECB Scorpions, and Duluth wildcats will be tough opponents.

Coach Mark, where is field #4. Is that up top where the 10U tournament was held last year or is it down in the back of the park?

Duluth beat Chili Dogs in the Silver bracket championship, and the Titans must still be playing the Jackets in extra innings because no finals have been posted. If anyone stayed till 7:30 last night, please fill us in. The Titans were looking strong in the semi's, but the Jackets also looked tight dispatching the Scorpions having very few walks, errors, or passed balls.

Nice tourney! Fields dragged, decent umps, web site updated well Saturday (ran out of gas Sunday night though), garbage cans emptied, trash picked up, restrooms decent, no gate or parking fee, scoreboards worked, fields in good condition, good concessions, American flags and Red White and Blue all over. Excellent job Sandy Plains & USTBA.

The Acworth group had a blast as well... Everyone was very helpful! We meet alot of very nice people.

We didn't win a game but for a rec group that had 4 or 5 practices I don't think we did bad.

I also think we played some very TOUGH teams.

Thank you to all teams who participated in the USTBA Fall State and congratulations to the ECB Titans for an impressive Championship.

We will start the 2010 season with the USTBA February Frost in late February and we'd love to have 18 teams at Sandy Plains in 11u. Again, the benefit of the USTBA format is that it allows AA & AAA teams to play up, but it also allows the Major teams to pitch some guys that might not otherwise get the opportunity to pitch during a tournament. And when bracket play begins, you are playing against your own talent level. This is a perfect format for an early season tournament.

We'll work on the website next time. The director's team was playing in this event and they went on a Sunday afternoon run. We also had two early 13u games that went 2 extra innings (both) which got us way behind and a late finish. I actually snuck in and posted the scores mid-day Sunday for 11u on his computer as I knew you guys would be following but the computer was locked later in the day. He will run the February Frost but his team will not play so hopefully that gets corrected. And I'll ask for a password. :)

One final note: The Acworth team really did hold their own. In most of their games, they were in it for 3 innings but then faded each time. Nice coach and nice team. They should be proud of themselves.

I agree. Tournament was very well run. Lesson learned for us USTBA newbies ... don't have a bad game on Saturday if you want to try to run with the big dogs on Sunday.

Something else to mention, hard to gauge these teams based on their performance this weekend because most had atleast one player that wont be playing with them come spring.
