Congrats to Triple Crown for running a quick, up-to-date tournament page. I felt the web page made following the tournament much easier for everyone. Good job.
Congrats to the Bandits. Another strong showing even with some of your team playing football. Class act all the way.
Seems some of the other teams were overlooked. There are just so many teams with quality players and coaches that anyone could win at any time. Sorry I missed the tournament. |

The bandits, it is just not fair. Team Georgia got to experience it. I do believe that team ga is the nuber 2 team now. |

1 out of 4...ouch! Don't feel bad, I had only 2 of 4 myself (Bandits and Team GA), and I watch 100+ games/year in this age group.
Hats off to the Young Guns for making the final 4. NOBODY had that.

PaPa, I must have been talking into your bad ear...I said I thought the GA Select Red team was a high AAA team, not AA. There were only 2 AA teams in the tourney, and I think we all know who those were. Hats off to them for having the guts to take on the big boys. |

Team Georgia coming in 2nd to the Bandits is pretty darn good. Sounds like they ran into a wall against the Bandits pitching. Can't wait till Spring. Maybe some new teams will show up at East Cobb in the Spring. I think the Cartersville Rookies should give it a shot. |

The guy over the Astro group ( and I say that because he said he was over all the Astros) said he was putting together an 11u Astro team for the spring. Now I know that some of you are saying no they start at 12u but he said he was putting the team together. I think he knows that at this age group there is some good talant just spread to thin over 4 or 5 teams. Expect the East Cobb teams to lose there better players in the spring to this elite group. Sorry it was a Fla. guy to tell this news to you all but it's probably best if you plan to even come close to competing with the two big teams in Ga. |

My predictions stunk, so I have given up on predicting outcomes of tournaments. I saw some new teams that looked very good, Team GA was all it was said to be. Bandits still dominate. |

Of the teams who are active this Fall, I agree, but I'll take Sandtown behind the Bandits, then Team Georgia. Who knows what the NYO Toros will look like next Summer. Has anyone seen the top 11's from the Warner Robbins Little League? Cartersville told me they were stout. Any info on this Titans1?

10BB - Let me be the one to break the news to you - the guy was blowing a bunch of smoke up your skirt regarding the 11U Astros. He used that same line at the ECB tryouts as their "gang" of coaches ran to anybody and everybody that looked 1/2 an athlete after the timed sprints at their tryouts making offers. This coach of all the Astros as he bragged is full of a lot of balony to put it mildly. There's one guy who is coach of all the Astros and I think his name is on the door there. If it weren't for some of his relationships internally there, his use of that name and recruiting ploys with it probably would've earned him a trip out of the organization by now. I know he got away with stealing one player who was already committed to another ECB 11U team but that's about all he came away with. There's a reason beyond football he chose to stay home this fall and it'll show in the spring. The guy means well I believe and is a knowledgable coach but what he claims and what will be reality are two far different things. |

Fun tournament; glad Vegas didn't set any lines since the odds on the Bandits would have been too big to take so we would have all lost out on the pretenders. |

I haven't talked to anyone from ECB but I believe most of these players are already commmitted to their ECB teams for spring, what I think you will see is a new name with some old faces with a very good coach. |

First of all let me say that I really enjoyed the weekend at East Cobb. The tournament was all that I had hoped it would be. It was nice to see the Bandits team for myself and I have to admit they were as good as advertised. Better still, all that are a part of that program (players, coaches and fans) appear to be a class act and there are some friendships already formed / forming between the following of the two. We look forward to the continued "friendly rivalry" that will develop for sure in the spring between these two great teams.
As for Team Ga, I am proud of the way the boys played. I will not elaborate on all the various adversities we had this weekend because it all sounds like excuses. Am I making an excuse for why the Bandits beat us? Absolutely not. Right now, they are the better team. What I am saying is that you cannot accurately judge this team's talent on what you have seen at any point this fall and ESPECIALLY this weekend. Those that know our team know that we are currently no where near 100% because of past and current injuries that are limiting some of our kids. We formed this team this fall and are playing for the most part without practice and are trying to figure some things out before spring. We look forward to the spring when everyone is healthy and practicing so that we can be at our best. At that time, you can judge for yourself and regardless of where you may feel we fall in the "rankings" of the best in the state, I can assure you we will be better than we are now.

Sorry I misunderstood bmoser but even if you said they were high AAA I think that is still too low. I believe they proved that they are ready for prime time. Am I right in that the only team to beat them was the Bandits. |

The Ga Select Red are currently 4-2 against 11U teams this fall. wins: 643 Jags, ECB Stars twice, Carolina Dawgs. Only losses were twice to the Bandits. Maybe would had been different if the Ga Select Red would have been in a different bracket and not had to meet the Bandits so early in Bracket play. |

Koopsdad: I agree that you cannot judge any team in the fall. It was good to get to know another team that plays the game the right way. Team Georgia was a formidable foe and we look forward to many great games against this team. Problem with us both that before we get to each other that there are several other good teams that we must get by. You didn't see Sandtown but I can tell you that they play the same way the Bandits and Team Georgia play and are filled with some of the best athletes in this age group. The real fact is that with the competition we all play that there are most likely 10 teams that might win each weekend. You must look out for the Scorpions, Jaguars, Cougars, and any other big cats that you see and you will also find a big dog with chili chasing these cats and most likely a bulldog or two. You must swat insects such as the Jackets, and not look past the Stars and you must Remember the Titans. If you beat all these then you still have to ride the Holly Springs Express to get to the finals.
It was good to see my grandson get back on the mound even if it was only for 1 inning each in 2 games. You have to start somewhere and this was a good start. We also were not full strength but I must admit that I have never seen us hit the ball as good as we did this weekend which was very encouraging. |

Papa, All of us with the Select program appreciate the kind words. We are still growing and working towards the Spring (both Red and Navy-as good as Red, just need more time together). We enjoyed seeing you guys twice (we have to see great teams to get there). I know we didn't see one of your best (we saw him enough last year), but we love the challenge it gives our players. Thanks. |

Georgia Select Red had the toughest draws in the tourney. Had to play the Bandits...twice! the EC Stars, and the Carolina Diamond Dawgs who were a handful(just ask Prime Time Chili Dogs Black).
PaPa may be right on this one, I might be under-grading GA Select Red. GSR were the only team to have led the Bandits in this tourney.

The Warner Robins 10 years old this year where better than the kids who went to Williamsport when they where ten.Good team speed, good defense, great hitting, great pitching, good coaching, and very good power. Alot of the kids get professional hitting and pitching lessons starting around age 9. Very cocky kids, parents, and coaches.

10BB-The head of all Astro teams was in Jupiter Florida this weekend. There is an Astro team at 11 this year. I am sure they will be very good. Many of the Tigers are returning to that team. If there is anyone playing for me now that feels there is a better place for there son / family, I would encourage them to persue it. Don't look for sweeping changes. Take it from a Ga guy, EC will be fine in the spring. |

Koopsdad, I was really glad to see you guys do so well in this tournament. As you know, I had first hand knowledge of your team's potential. You guys averaged 10 runs per game through the first 5 games allowing only 3.6 to be scored against you. I was glad to see the big lefty on the mound again and I really admire his guts and determination after what he has been through. I sure wish the "other bookend" could have been there too. Hopefully, he is feeling better now. Good luck to you guys !!

Wow, what a great tournament. I was amazed how some of these teams were pretty sharp. I think the teams that struggled the most were the new teams. I think team GA was the exception. I give kudos to all the teams in the tournament. I think 2010 will be a great season. Bandits will run the table again. Sandtown when they come around they cause trouble. Team GA is a great team but rumor has it that they may just be a fall team. sward you can educate us on that. 6-4-3 top team right now are the jags. The cougars will still be a good team when danny is around. GA Jackets will be right in there. The chilidogs will make your stomach hurt. Ga Select red and navy will be a force. The Titans very nice team and they will hurt you. The stars can hurt you but they need work. The Scorpions will be a very good team, i still think right now they are the top team at east cobb, they work hard. I have no idea about the astros. Holly Spring can beat just about anybody. Good job triplecrown.

Papa has always wanted to see how one of these Little League teams would match up with an elite travel ball team. Titan1: Are they restricted from entering travel tournaments prior to making their all star selections or is this team together now and could play if they chose.
I have always heard that Little League pretty much restricts what they can and cannot do. Bandits looked into Little League but couldn't make it work.
Help us out here. If this team is really good then let's see what we can do to give them a game. It would be nice to put on your resume that you played and maybe even beat the Little League World Champions. This would be a ton of fun win or lose. |

From talking to the Coaches, parents, and fans of Team Georgia I think that we should expect even better in the spring than we just saw in the fall. I can 100% promise you that the Jags and Cougars will be much better after their Coaches get the new guys accustomed to their program. Scorpions surprised me that they were not as good as advertised but I can't help but believe that Team Georgia had a lot to do with that. Holly Springs can't ever seem to get over the hump game but when they figure it out they will be a force. I didn't see much of the Titans this weekend but heard plenty. I don't think any of us know what to think of the EC Stars but I bet we all agree that with the kind of talent on this team that they will come around soon. And remember that the Prime Time team and the new Chili Dogs are not one and the same and you should expect both chili and pepper from the Dogs next spring. First time that I had seen the Young Guns but wasn't overly impressed although they did beat some good teams. Jackets at time can rock the baseball and at other times can't hit at all. When they develop consistenty they will be tougher than tough. And if Georgia Select can hold on to their players and keep playing and gain experience they will be on the top shelf. Sandtown and some others wasn't there so just remember what is lurking in the shadows that you didn't even see this weekend. |
