Is it true ya all have the best player from the bay bombers added to your roster in an attemt to capture this elusive one?

Papa has lots of sweatshirts but one that I do not have is the Triple Crown Fall State as this is one that always eludes the Bandits. I don't know if it's the cold weather and trying to play baseball with football players or that the other teams are just better prepared earlier. I think it probably has more to do with the great teams that have prepared hard for this one that makes this one so elusive for us to catch.

Did not see holly springs making a splash at the 643 event. bmoser must like the uniform colors.

Scorpions Holly Springs Chili Dogs Bandits
Not ready for final 4 yet...need to light some candles, do my tea leaves, and dust off the Ouija Board.
Instinct aside, I'm guessing pitching accuracy and hitting will be least predictable. I see the combination of team defense, speed, and Coaching as being more rust-proof. Watch the catchers to make the difference in this one. Wonder if anyone called that red-head from down South? History has a way of repeating itself.

I only know that we will be missing several top line players for this one and that we really want to play. I have no information other than that. |

Baseball: From my heart... Holly Springs is a sentimental favorite of mine because they were the 2nd travel ball team my son ever played...way back in 7U Coach pitch. I know many of the faces have changed, but the uniform colors remain the same :)
From my book... I saw them in 2 mud fests, and liked their defense, catcher, top 2 pitchers, speed, and swagger. They like to get dirty, are experienced, have faced top competition, and are excellent mudders (I expect some wet conditions in the pool, and that is what I'm talking about here). They can win close games, which I also expect.
So, there's my reasoning. The worse the conditions Friday and Saturday, the more I like them to win their pool. Oh, and the uniforms are exquisite, especially when covered in mud! |

Why are 11U games being played at Adcock Field? Field is 180 -190 feet, limited parking (resulting in having to walk down the side of a main raod) and inflated gate fees. |

I appreciate all the talk about the red head but I must tell you he is not the best player on the Bay Bombers because there is no best player on the Bombers. They are a team of teammates from which it takes to win ball games. He played for MBA Pride in the Fall Nationals and pitched the semi final game against the USA Boltz with a result of 10 to 2 in favor of the Pride. If it weren't for the team putting up the 10 runs they would have lost because he gave up 2 runs. Now with all that said we would love to play some baseball with a great team such as the Bandits and if this ever happens he would once again just be another player among very talented ballplayers. I can tell you this it matters not what team he plays for he will give 110% when he steps between those lines and if you want to meet one of the happiest kids go up to him and introduce yourself to him. He will cut up and joke around wih you because he has never met a stranger |

No doubt the Jags are the best team in that pool and the Georgia Jackets may be #2 in that pool.

If they try and pull that inflated gate fee crap at Adcock Field then we will politely refuse and offer the going rate - they can take it or leave it as far as I am concerned. I have my own college fund to contribute to :0) |

So few Forsyth/Gwinnett teams play Cobb (and those who do, don't play there often) so I've lost touch.
Does Adcock Field still charge visiting teams to use the indoor batting cages? If not, perhaps, the added gate fees are in lieu of cage time fees? I recall getting a dog 'n drink ticket to offset the up-charge. They had free parking, and fair priced concessions. We used to lose a lot of balls over the 1st base side fence, has that changed? Do they space out the games enough to warm up the arms on the field since there isn't much space to do it off-field?
The fences are only ~200', but they have a cool "big green monster" that keeps most 11's in the park. Announcing player names is a nice touch. Lighting & playing surface was better than most private fields.
Zohan:I just spoke to a Holly Springs law enforcement bud of mine to see if they can get some cones and temp pedestrian crossing signs along the street to alert motorists of the unusually heavy pedestrian traffic. He says the street department only does this for City functions, not private functions. If anyone knows any Holly Springs City official/s, please call them. Patrol cars will be visible, so beware!

I can see how it would be a good facility to practic out of but way too many negatives to try and paly tournament ball there. The additional fees is really just like the final straw to why TC should never use that field. With access to 2 fields at ECB the entire tournament should be played there. |

To me ,The field across the street is the one that should be used. That field has probably got the best infield around.Has a nice parking lot to very accessible to field ,very clean restrooms, and probably one of the best concesssions of any ballpark.Tony if you are reading this consider to try to get use of this field in future. |

Wow. Most people have the ECB Titans in their final 4. I don't know much about that team. Can someone with knowledge of this team give me any information on them? I can't wait to see them play. |

They are the old EC Bulldogs with a few new additions and two recruits from "out of the area" (think out of state) |

Did the two chilidog teams combine, if that is the case they are going to be tough to beat. |

Homeplate chilidogs black beat them pretty handily last season and I heard they had top line player(s) out with injury. Can some one confirm? I thought it was the Bandits with out of area players?

BASEBALL: We were both right! You predicted Carolina would eat Chili-Dogs (I never see that coming), and I saw Holly Springs atop their pool, and wearing Green :)
Titans - Chilidogs was the closest game I saw yesterday, and the most exciting. C'Dogs hit a monster HR late to go up 5-3, then the Titans answered with 3 of their own, and held on to win 6-5.
and the Bandits are still the Bandits. They start you off with their Chinese torture test...drip drip drip, 1 run here, 1 run there, then the levy breaks and WHOOSH. |

Yep! Won it 8-0 over Team Georgia. Bandits gave up 9 runs in 6 games, and run ruled every opponent.

TITAN 1 You had the Bandits vs Team Georgia in the finals, so you win the Nostradomis award of the week. Nice job! |

Papa normally wants to talk about the Bandits and I will start by saying how proud that I am of the way they played the game this weekend but I want to say more about Georgia Baseball as a whole. I saw some really great teams this weekend and feel very lucky that we were able to manuever our way through this mine field of good baseball teams. I can promise you that there were several teams that went home early that was looking ahead of the game in front of them. It really helped that the Bandits have spent many games in the minefield that has taught us to dodge one mine at a time and not to look to far ahead.
I will also report that you should all be careful and cautious with these teams that start or end with the word Georgia. If BMoser thinks this Georgia Select team is AA then I don't want to see his AAA teams. I was impressed with the grit this team showed and I was also impressed with their heart in that they would never quit and without a couple of great plays by the Bandits this one might have been a lot closer. I didn't get to see the Titans but did hear that they knocked off the Prime Time Boys. The common thread is that no more than you knock off one opponent that another springs up that will bite you if you are not ready.
And for the ones that thought the Team Georgia team was overrated Papa says you are full of "Poo Poo". This team is as athletic and as skilled as any team we have ever faced and without a dominant pitching outing by #13 this one could have been a war.
This might have been one of the toughest fields of teams in the East Cobb area in a long time. I watched the Jackets their game prior to playing us and they rocked the ball all over the park. Papa doesn't want to hear anymore about the Scorpions and their draws as they had it tougher than any this time out but played down to the wire with Team Georgia. Prime Time wasn't consistent this weekend but it was obvious that they are a real threat to anybody they are playing and Holly Springs was ambushed by them and will attest to their ability.
Would any of us have ever believed that we wouldn't see a East Cobb team in the final 4. Not me for sure. No predictions from me for the rest of this fall or next spring but I can promise that if you plan on playing in 11U then you had best strap it on tight and get ready for a rumble.
Papa loves Georgia Baseball and loves playing at East Cobb and ATPP. We are really lucky to have such great venues and capable people that make this possible for the kids and I say a big Thanks to all who make this possible. I feel so good that I almost bragged on the umpires but I am not that goofy yet. |
