We've been trying to get into some competitive tournaments this fall, but the traditionally stronger teams don't seem to be going there? Where is everybody planning to play this fall? For example, I was surprised there are only 4 teams for the Triple Crown tournament next weekend. |

zwndad: Bandits have been asked to play in several good tournaments but due to budget cuts we have hung our hat on a couple of 12 U tournaments that we don't expect to win but feel might prepare us for the stronger 11U teams we expect to face this spring. For our fall finale we are going to St. Augustine to hook up with the great Florida teams in the Triple Crown Fall Nationals on October 9, 2009. I have gotten some emails for some tournaments that we would like to participate in but again you can only play in one location each week. There seems to be more tournaments going on than is usual for this time of year and maybe this is keeping some of the teams away. |

Most of the really good team are playing football and haven't had a chance to gel their teams yet. The more changes you have the longer that takes. The Oct. TC is starting to look pretty good. Now, can someone make it stop raining |

Grand Slam and Georgia Force Baseball(Cumming) have hosted the largest Fall tourneys thus far (held in the Northeastern burbs). There has been some usssa action down in Monroe. Strongest 11u teams playing Fall in ATL metro thus far have been: Team Georgia, Cartersville Rookies, Georgia Select Red, Mill Creek-Red. For the most, teams are staying closer to home. Lots of scrimmages going on every dry weekend in Forsyth and Gwinnett.

I wish more teams would plan and post their schedules so other teams can plan better. I also wish teams would only list themselves at one tournament. I have seen the same team listed in two or three events.
Football is not a good excuse. Nations is holding one day tournaments in Winder. Why aren't east side teams coming? One dayers are a better value and football players can play. |

Shutout: I am assuming by your post that you still think that the Scorpions are the best East Cobb team? |

Until these teams starting playing and show us something on the field I don't see any reason to assume anything different. From what i saw of the ECB teams last year the Scorpions were the only ECB teams that competed well against the big boys. The new teams of Stars, Titans and Astros from what I can see have basically just shuffled the players from each others rosters while the scorpions pretty much kept their team together which should have them playing more consistent ball at least in the fall while the others are still trying to gel. |

I had heard the Scorpions lost several of their players and picked up some players from the Ga. Yard Dogs and Jaguars. Do they have the same team or have they added. With as many roster changes as I have heard has taken place with several already good teams I would think that it would very hard to predict anything at this point.
It will all work itself out on the field without us speculating who is better or who is the best. Did they make the right choices or wrong choices. No one really knows but before long we will all find out. Has anyone stood pat from 10U to 11U. How many teams have made no changes at all. I would bet this number will be few.

Shutout, that shuffling of players between the ecb teams was not as prevelent as you think. I think most teams exchanged one or maybe two players. New kids were recruited in the system.
I dont think the Astros have any kids that played on another ecb team last year. They added kids from other systems.
The Stars roster consist of five kids that were in the ecb system last season. But Marjority of our kids come from other systems. One from Kennesaw Express, three from the Central Dekalb Jags, one from the Oregon Park and one from Smyrna. Really nice group of kids.
I do agree that it will take some time for us to gel. lol

Guys, There is a string titled EC 11U. Knock yourselves out.
AS for where teams are playing this Fall...
Grand Slam moved its Flowery Branch tourney last weekend to Snelleville where they received less rain, and shortened play to Sunday only. Mill Creek went 3-0, North Gwinnett Bulldogs-Black finished 2nd at 2-1, Warriors (formerly Dobbs Creek Warriors) finished 3rd at 2-1. South Gwinnett, Parkview, and Hebron also competed. Highlights: I saw 2 homers over the 225' fence, a catcher throw out 4 baserunner's in one game, and a pitcher throw a complete game 3-hitter. All nice feats for a 6-team Fall-ball, 1-day tourney.
Last weekend, the Georgia Force tourney at Dobbs Creek Park in Cumming rained out, but they play this weekend (6 teams so far).
There was some action in Monroe, but no 11U division. I think the Elite Gamers Red 11U won a 12U tourney down there. If so, nice job! |

Let me put this in a nice way. They have a lot work to do just to be on the level that Kennesaw was on last year.
Its like they are mostly the Kennesaw team but they lost three of their best players. It is very hard to replace those three and they did not. I think all the new teams(stars & titans) will struggle in the east cobb area this first year.
First year will be a tough one.
Maybe someone will prove me wrong.....Want be the first time. lol

The first day I saw the Jags and Stars, I was not impress but they must have been holding back. Fellows just got back from the 6-4-3 Jaguars tournament and i was wrong. The Jags beat their brothers the cougars 12 to 8. The Jags look like winners. They fought back when they were down. Also, I have to admit that I was wrong about the stars. They also look like they will be a team to watch in the future. You could see the rust on both but I was a little shock by how much pitching both teams displayed. The jags and the stars had several kids that could really get it up there pretty fast. I saw a few errors but I think that will be worked out with more practice. The stars are very interesting a lot of atheletic ability.
Heres another prediction, expect the Jags and Stars to shake up some things. |
