After reading much of this thread, and others on this discussion board, I felt compelled to respond to correct the inaccurate information being posted about the Savannah tournament and our team.
1) The Braves were NOT stealing signs - so please stop that garbage. It was a great game between two good teams playing very good baseball. Our team came up a little short on that day - that is all. That is baseball (and quite frankly life). I believe our kids and coaches are better after that loss and hopefully it will show throughout the rest of the season. I may be wrong but I thought that was the purpose of playing travel ball - i.e. to get better. Maybe next time the final result will be more favorable for our team.
2) The coaching staff for the Braves is a class act and their team is incredibly talented. Please stop the "what if" that happened or "what if" that happened scenarios. It implies that some how the Braves did not earn their championship. THAT IS NOT TRUE. The Braves played a great game and made a couple more plays than our kids. It was a pleasure to be part of that game. How close that game really was is a testament to the hard work our kids have put in (and our coach Tony). We lost by 1 run and had a chance to tie or win it at the end against a team that I challenge anyone to argue is not one of the best in the nation. Also, the Braves were playing very good baseball in Savannah, which is evident by the final scores of all their other games.
3) The tournament was well run and there were very good games between very good teams. I can say that every team and coaching staff that we played against conducted itself professionally. Moccs, it was great talking with you -- you have a great team and I hope to see you in the future.
4) We did bring 2 kids that are normally not on our roster for this tournament, but that was because we only had 9 kids available as one boy left the team and one boy is recovering from a very serious illness. Regarding the two kids that played with us, one is not currently on another team and has played with many of the kids on TPX on a prior team and the other boy's team was not playing last weekend (and I would like to note that 3 of that boy's other teammates played for another team in Savannah). Also, both of the additional players take hitting lessons from our coach. So that is background on why those two boys played with us. They are both great boys (on and off the field) and it was a pleasure to have them join us for the weekend.
We have been limping along with essentially 9 1/2 (remember one is recovering from a serious illness and generally cannot play more than one game in s a day) players for the past month and it made perfect sense to bring 11 players to Savannah. The additional two players did not carry TPX to the championship -- please stop all that talk and/or cryptic implications (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE). It wrongly takes away from the accomplishments of the other boys. Review of the stats from the tournament show that TPX's success was a total team effort and anyone who says otherwise is plainly wrong. Yes, those 2 players played a critical role in the championship game (as did other boys who made plays, etc.), but I can say without hesitation that TPX would have still been in the championship regardless of whether or not those additional players played.
5) We have a roster and we have always stuck to it -- we are not adding or subtracting kids every weekend. I would also like to point out that we played and batted all 11 kids for every game in Savannah.
6) Please stop with all the garbage that we are recruiting kids away from other teams. A large portion of the boys joined TPX after their teams disbanded or have been on the team for nearly a year now. For instance, 3 boys are from the former Crossfire team, 2 boys are from the former Blue Claws Grey team, and the other 5 boys have been on the team since at least last May. Also, since we only have 10 boys on the team there is a chance that we may add another player (assuming he is the right player) during this season. Along that line, other teams in this area (several who generally are considered to be the better teams) have recently added players to their rosters mid-season without being the subject of criticism. Good for the teams and the boys and families that joined those teams.
7) Lastly, and this is directed to the Florida teams (which based on the teams at the Savannah tournament are Jacksonville area teams - and yes, I am including our team in this group), I find it very sad to have one of the Braves' coach describe our baseball teams the way that he did --- "Pure Hatred" for one another, receiving emails hoping an Atlanta, GA team beats a home town Jacksonville team, etc. I can honestly say that if our team is not going to win a tournament that I want another Jacksonville team to. I was happy that other Jacksonville teams had a lot of success in Savannah ---- we all should. The Riverhawks were the No. 2 seed after pool play and placed in the top 8, BlueClaws Black beat the Stealth (congrats again) and placed in the top 8, the Whitecaps beat a Georgia major team, and the Jax Ghosts won the Silver bracket after being dealt a very tough pool schedule (playing the Stealth and Columbia County Bulldogs). The really sad thing is the kids from all the teams seem to generally get along fine -- that means it is the adults behavior that is at issue. Lets stop the negative attacks on our fellow Jacksonville teams --- we really want all the teams to do well because that helps all of our kids get better playing baseball and positive recognition for our area.

Well said, Lenny. There's a lot in your post that could be a lesson for everyone on this message board. Parents and coaches alike get caught up in so much silliness over 12U baseball that it really becomes pathetic.

Well said Lenney. Many great points made.
Will not point to any teams in particular but a coach who is being upheld actually told a player to get away from him in not so many words.
Saw another physically push a child into the dugout on another team.
These incidents make the parents and players on both sides unconfortable and affect the runh of play and the players on both sids.
Unless the child is the coaches kid or even if not this has to be evaluated.
How long will we allow coaches get away with talking to our kids like this? We see it here in the peach state with a few teams as mentioned on other topic threads. They are kids allow them to play free from the fear of coaches who cannot grow up or control their tempers.

I looked back at my post and what I meant to say was the pickups were the most domiantn the championship game. I know it was a team effort as I witnessed your team dominate ours with even effort. My point is true major players step it up when it counts and those two did. As for the rest of your post I think it is times for isitSpringyet's group hug.
