I think the consensus is that this small collection of teams will make for some fun and interesting brand of baseball to watch this weekend.
Glad you saw my humor in the post
It is an election year, after all. Wearing my tin foil cap as I type this! |

Pools are fine, either way you will need to play some very good teams to advance to the semi finals. If the Longhorns are fotunate enough to make the semi finals, we would be more then happy to give our birth to any team who wants to go because we are not going to Valdosta to play in the April tournament.
Tae, if you are not going to Valdosta if you finish top 4, Then why are you playing in this tournament???? This has hit sore subject with me because the same thing happened to us in the Super NIT this weekend. Going into the tourney we knew there were two teams there that already had a berth. so the question was asked to usssa, what happens if they finish 1st or second in this tourney? we were told it would be passed down. so sure enough, we make it to the semis and the two teams with the berths make it to the semis in the other bracket, and with Atlanta getting two Berths we are in right? WRONG!!!! We had even told our boys they had earned their berth to Disney after 3 tries. Can you imagine the feeling these 9yr old boys are going to have when we have to tell them they are not going. So all i am saying Tae is make sure if you do finish in the top 4, and i hope you do, that usssa will let you pass your berth along. It could end up being a way for them to host another tourney advertising one spot left for the ga/fla. showdown.
Hey Topdog, I hope your team ends up getting the bid to Disney your kids are shooting for.
However I'm not sure I understand your concern if another team choice to pass on a tournament they may qualify for. IMO, play in any event you want and challenge your kids to get better. Not playing in an event because you may qualify for another event doesn't make sense.
My kids have been on many teams that won tournaments and qualified for another event or World Series. We have never gone to any of them. The teams have always made tournament plans well ahead of time and choice to end the season at the beach or a few years ago Cooperstown.
At last this coach is declaring before hand that if they do qualify they will pass.

Simple, there wasn't any other options to play this weekend. Most teams are taking this one off and the only other tournament that I know of was in Alpharetta but they were not taking any additional teams. |

But if you want to see a whacky post pool bracket, check out the 13u's. Pool A & B winner have to win one game vs, at best a 3rd place pool finisher, to make the semi's and win a berth to Valdosta. Pool C winner has to win two games (no bye) and has to potentially face a 2nd place pool finisher to get to the semi's and win the berth. Really no benefit to be win Pool C. Same road for the 2nd place finisher out of Pool C to get to semi's. Both face a 5th place team, then a 2 or 4 if they advance. At least they seeded the pools properly. |

Judging by the pool games it seems the Bravos are in Spring form. You can't stop them but can only hope to contain them. Astros will bounce back in bracket, you will see. |

How can the Braves only show 2 kids with 3 innings pitched in pool game #4 but the Astros have 2 kids with 6 innings pitched in pool game #4 something does not add up! |

Bravesfan you are correct on all fronts. Strohs just completed a nice one against the Titans. Braves look better than last week.
I have enjoyed my two weeks up in HOTlanta. And the baseball is even hotter. Another well run tourney with local talent and even with some notables not in it.
On this Sunday Georgia Baseball should feel blessed to have such a great youth baseball scene. Not looking forward to the 8 hours back to even hotter Florida.

WOW!!!! It looks like the Longhorns have worked the bugs out! We lost early but I stayed to watch the rest of the days action and they looked very strong. Hit the ball well top to bottom and showed everyone that they are one of the best teams in their age group. Hats off to them, the Braves looked unstoppable all weekend. |

Had to stop at a rest stop for a nap. Worn out from some great baseball. The Ship was incredible and the Longhorns had it today and look much improved from last year. Great ballgame and gracious coaches on both sides. That is the way baseball should be played, coached and watched. WTG East Cobb! |

I'm worn out too, it was very uncomfortable walking around with that horseshoe (you know where) all day. We were very very fortunate to come back vs. three very outstanding ball clubs on Sunday. |

Although off topic or off tournament, Congrats to Midway Mavs for winning the Alpharetta invitational, I think the odds would have had the money on the Titans or the Spartans? The Hornets put up a big number in the Semi and played a close one to the end. See bracket games below:
9 Su 3/25 8:00:00 WB3 Roswell Hornets 5 SS Spartans Black 3
10 Su 3/25 8:00:00 WP-C Alpharetta Titans 7 Milton Nationals 3
11 Su 3/25 8:00:00 WP-D Midway Mavericks 8 Alpharetta Braves 4
12 Su 3/25 10:00:00 WB3 SFCB Rangers 0 EC Spartans 9
13 Su 3/25 10:00:00 WP-D Alpharetta Titans 6 Midway Mavericks 12
14 Su 3/25 12:00:00 WB3 Roswell Hornets 16 EC Spartans 5
15 Su 3/25 14:30:00 WB3 Midway Mavericks 11 Roswell Hornets 10

kreskin,
Just checked today and the CF Gators pulled out so there are only 2 Florida teams entered and I'm pretty sure one of the other 4 teams that qualified isn't going either so this tourney will have a few slots for teams that want to come and play. |
