I started to reply to defend my statement. But I do see your point. Just because our kids play sports does not make them super kids. They are still growing, and parents need to understand what that means. Five years ago, I knew nothing about tendons and growth plates, or any of the other things that we all need to watch out for. I am fortunate to be married to a pediatrician who spent years studying how a child grows. I have also taken the time to learn as much as I can. Our son sees his pediatrician on a regular basis, and we talk about sports and its effect on his body.
As mentioned many times on this board, an educated parent to a kid's best chance.

I think that sometimes we believe that just because our boys are athletic, they can do things others can not. Does having strong arms and core(muscles) make the tendons stronger? Do strong Legs prevent Knee problems?
We should probably all follow some sort of guidelines which take our bias' out of the equation.
