Usssa format for state ha to be changed. It simply put stinks. We went 2-1 in pool play and don't have shot at winning it. To cap it off we asked what time consilation game was and were told no games scheduled. What is happining is teams are playin pool games and then quiting if they don't make it through and usssa is allowing it. Next problem we all have played all year and majority of fields have been 200 ft. So we show up this weekend and play on 300ft fields. They have temp fences available but usssa to cheap to pay to put up. Next we signed up for 4gm guaranty and only got 3 I wonder if usssa gonna refund twenty-five percent. I won't hold my breath. Come on usssa its simple 2pool games into double elimination. Usssa if you r gonna require teams to play in state tournement in order to play in world series and these teams do just that then usssa should give teams what they pay for. I no people from usssa check this board but I prob won't get answers there to busy cashin checks. |

Agree, new format is different depending on where you play.....we played in south and had 4 pool games...(one team forfeited (no showed) so teams got to use less pitching and play one less game on saturday....usssa said forfeits count as 6-0 victory (how is this fair to teams who had to play extra games?).....We went 4-0 in pool play but lost our first bracket game (our fault played bad...but also was our 4th game of day)....Also they allowed a lower class team to play up? Clearly says you can not play up.... |

Ok back on my soapbox. Please explain how a team protest a pitcher who pitched over 6 inn in same day they win protest umps call ball game. Yet money hungry usssa tournement director overrules umps decision and keeps 100 dollers. Look at pitching record for west cobb warriors if you don't think it happened. I don't get it. Ok iam better. |

Biggin, I agree with you about the format. Hard to swallow when a team you beat gets in and you dont. You guys deserved to be there today. Here is another reason I didnt like it. Counting the if game we played 7 games in 2 days and there was only 8 teams in the tournament. That is alot of games in 2 short days and 90 plus heat. But like a friend of mine says u knew the job was dangerours when u took it.
Hats off to the Redbirds good team and a class act. Mill Creek was also a great group of guys and they hit the ball well.
For my Homeplate team? Not bad for being the second best team out of Home Plate! Thats what I hear anyway. |

Bturner, I did not know you were so sensitive! 3 weeks ago I said HP Brown was playing the best. From what I saw They should have been moved up. They won around 10 games in a row big and you were losing. Now I would say you are playing better. I don't think I said they were better than you.
Sorry to hurt you feelings. |

I guess I am kind of on the fence about the format. We played 8 games in less than 48 hours and at one point my players were dropping like flies....cramps, overheat, collisions, and batted balls taking them out, etc. Of course, I think the parents were in even worse shape than the boys, LOL. But as I recall, that was about the same with the old double elimination format, too. I think when I look back at it I will like the 2 out of 3 part but some of the rest of it may need to be altered somewhat. My biggest complaint was that the the schedule had the teams that made the championship getting to the field at 8am for a 9am game, then playing again at 11, then 1, then 3. After the 11am game we asked the Umpires if we could take enough time for the boys to get something to eat and they said that they were on strict orders to keep it to less than 20 minutes between games....then the TD came over and said that we were behind schedule and could only have 15 minutes between games. When I asked him why the rush, he said that those were the rules. Just an observation on my part, shortly after lunch we were the only game left in the park. I know that the TD (well, the TD's representative) was ready to go home...we all were...but what would it have hurt to give an extra 20 minutes between one of the games for a bite to eat and a chance to regroup? I think Randy would have been more sympathetic had he been at our park but he was apparently at one of the other parks and had his guy there.
Overall, though, we had fun!

State tournaments need to have consistant length fields. A home run on one field and a out on another is crazy. Temporary fence???? No brainier. This situation did effect the outcome of one of our games. No doubt. Hey, we lost that's not the complaint. The complaint is that its stupid to play on a 220 fence then play on a 300 foot fence. Don't wont to be negative so here is some positives. Umpires for our games were consistant and the clean up crews were riding around all day keeping the park clean. Bad weather held off. Good baseball was on the menu for the tournament. I hate that a team went home after being 2-1. That's not good if that happened. |

Ding, ding ding, I think we have a winner. Very interesting Bo. I've been wondering myself who Im Right is. Seems to be very good at taking the old shot across the bow. Obviously, he/she doesn't feel comfortable in leaving a name nor the team they represent. If not he, who could it be...? It would never be someone from the black. Sincerely, SCOTT "Not hard to find" POWELL |

Bturner, I said it up at HP to some fellow coaches that Brown was playing better after they run ruled us twice. I never said that they were best team out there Although, I change my opinion Brown has hit a little bit of a wall and you guys seem to be getting it all together at the right time. Good luck the rest of the year.
I am not " I'm right" don't get me in that mess.
Biggin....HP Foster.....nice pickups from SM
Our season is over and our record was okay but players improved a lot.
By the way, this will probably be my last post because I am moving to Florida.
Good luck to all the teams from the southside in the states and world series coming up! |

Well state tournements done I would surely hope usssa changes the way they do things. I will the 2 that we played in the the teams that won fully deserved it and played best ball over both weekends. Good luck to all teams in final 4. |

I liked the format. I believe it rewarded the Teams that built pitching depth and hurt The Teams that didn't. I liked the fact that You couldn't hold back in pool play or You wouldn't make it to bracket play. AA north was a well run tournament with great competition. Congrats to Collin Hill! |
