Is this a USSSA event? If so i would say winner deserves a 32 bid for sure!

Nations Baseball, no Elite 32 bid on the table. More competition than any SNIT at this one though.

Nations Baseball Standard Rules (assuming they'll apply for this event):

1. Limitations of pitching are based upon recorded outs while the pitcher is on the mound.
a. In all age groups that are scheduled for six innings, a pitcher cannot pitch more than 18 outs in any given day.
b. In all age groups 16 and younger that are scheduled for seven innings, a pitcher cannot pitch more than 21 outs in any given day.
c. For six-inning games, a pitcher cannot pitch more than 27 outs in three consecutive days, regardless of game guarantee.

Bandits win in a rematch with the Dirtbags. Canes take out Team Florida before the Bandits get to.

Great weather forecast for a TN tournament - That is a victory in of itself ;0) Looking forward to seeing the Summit as I hear it is an awesome Park. Should be some great baseball this weekend. Some great pool play match ups highlighted by the Cougars Vs Team Florida rematch!?

Yes the Bandits agreed to play 4 pool play games to allow each other team a chance to play 3 pool play games (odd number of teams). If anyone can do it and still have plenty of pitching left for bracket play, it would be them!

Not only did the Bandits agree to play 4 pool games it turned out to be a smart move as the 4-0 record in pool play propelled them to the #1 seed and allowed them to win the tournament with only 3 victories. The Canes on the other hand had the grueling task of playing the Tennessee Naturals, the Dirtbags, and then Team Florida prior to taking on the Bandits in the finals. No cigar again for Team Florida as they took it on the chin again thanks to the Canes but then again so did the Dirtbags and the Naturals. Papa would like to congratulate the Canes as I feel that these are great kids, great baseball players, great parents and a great organization that plays the game of baseball the way it was meant to be played.

4 of the top 5 ranked teams in the nation were there at the end and I will announce to the baseball world that the Bandits were very fortunate to have prevailed in this one. The Bandits are taking a much need weekend off to prepare for our Cooperstown trip and hope to represent the State of Georgia well while in New York.

I would also like to thank the fans of Ringgold and Chickamauga for making our first trip home this year the most well attended and the most fun of the year so far.

Baseball PaPa...do the Bandits regard this victory as their finest yet of the 12 season? Seems like the strongest group of contenders the Bandits have faced all season long to me.

Great tournament. Main take-aways included: couldn't believe the size of many kids... most teams had 2 or 3 kids that looked like young men; looked like most teams had 2 to 4 studs that stood out...except the Bandits, who had a few more; saw some serious heat > lot of kids throwing in the mid 70s > saw Bandit hit 81 mph on the gun (wow!); standard of baseball top to bottom was exceptional; Bandits were certainly the best... had the pleasure of watching 2 of their games; 643 Jaguars showed a lot of fight vs 2 top 5 ranked teams with 6 - 6 Tie Vs Dirtbgags and very close 3 -1 bracket loss to Team Florida; Canes & Memphis Outlaws are much improved with some huuuuge, athletic kids; Summit = spectacular weather and facility. Good times for sure!

As a dad of one of the Cherokee kids, I agree it was a good tourney. It stunk we had to play the Stars twice when we are only 10 miles from each other here in Knoxville, but that's the way it works sometimes. We did get to play the Bandits (for the second time this year), Outlaws, and Naturals. So it was good to see some new kids. I too was very impressed with the size and arm strength of some of the kids. I didn't see the 81 mph kid throw but I heard about it. Impressive but I still don't believe - because I didn't see it! All in all, I am glad we participated. We don't travel the super nit circuit in search of the competition like the true major teams do. So, for our kids to have an opportunity to see the competition out there was great for them, and I think that they played well (I've blocked out the two bad innings of the weekend). Good luck to all the teams in their quest for World Series titles at the end of the year!

Strongx, it happened and I know because I was there and have held the gun on these kids last two tourneys. Not that the 81 was regularly thrown, just that he (#12) hit that mark. He did so a few weeks ago as well. One of our dads is ex High School head coach and has a Jugs gun (not a cheapy). He keeps it calibrated. We actually have three kids in the high 70s regularly and two that we know of have hit the 80 mark. We "shoot" very few pitches per game as we do not want the kids to see and think about the gun when they are pitching.

At least with the few pitches we have recorded, #12 has peaked at 81 and #33 at 80. I believe #13 has been there on occasion too but we did not have the gun to confirm. We have only recently started bringing the gun because we have missed some of these "special" outings where we REALLY wanted to know how hard they were throwing. You dont strike out 17 consecutive Dirtbag hitters as #12 did, or throw a 6 inn perfect game against a team like the Canes as #13 did if you don't have some serious "stuff". Regardless, anyone that knows our team knows that the heart and soul of this Bandit team is an incredible pitching staff that we are VERY proud of. These guys are at the age where they are really starting to mature physically and they are REALLY fun to watch from week to week. Makes you wonder just what they might be capable of down the road.

For the record, my son is NOT one of these kids mentioned. He and his little 66-67 mph fastball are so far down in the rotation you won't be seeing him. LOL!

Papa - We're just a little ole AA team, but we'll be in Cooperstown the same week as you, and we're looking forward to watching your boys play. Best of luck, and we'll be pulling for you to take the title up there.

Koopsdad, your humility is one of the things that makes you such a good father to your son and such a great family to our team. #14 is a STUD ballplayer and would be one of the top pitchers on any other team in the nation. As a Bandit he contributes more than you probably give him credit for and we are lucky to have you both.

Papa wouldn't trade #14 or any Bandit for that matter for Derek Jeter. What we have experienced is special and the puzzle will not work if all the pieces are not there.

I know a lot of people who don’t believe 12u players can throw 80+mph. I didn’t either, until I saw the Banditos Black 12u team a few years ago (the team with the 155 game winning streak). I have watched many of the elite 12u travel teams over the years, but they were the best that I’ve ever seen. They had 4-5 players that would routinely hit 80mph (as high as 84mph) and multiple other players that were in the upper 70’s, and this was verified by multiple quality radar guns. I’ve seen a few 12u players since then who could hit 80mph on the gun as well.

If the Bandits kids are throwing around 80mph, then they are the real deal for sure. You aren’t going to lose very often with that kind of velocity.

TBB,

I got to see that Bandito's Black team as my older kid was going thru this stuff. I saw them at the Super NIT in Atlanta and again at Disney. They were awesome. If you tried to watch their games, you were about 4-5 rows back with all the other onlookers from the other fields. They were a true road show.

Since I didn't see it for myself, I must take you guy's word for the 80+. No doubt, that is tough to hit from 50 feet! Everyone who knows a kid throwing 80+ at 12 has a responsibility to help that kid take care of his arm. That lefty should have a future if his head is on straight!

Koopsdad,

If that 67 mph fastball is not getting you on the mound enough, come up north an hour or two and I am sure our coach could use you!

Seriously, you guys have a great team, and it is something special when you are able to accomplish what you guys have. I am glad our team got to face you guys a couple of times this year. We may even see you again this week in Cooperstown - I hope it's Thursday night. Make sure somebody brings the gun and I will bring my glasses!

Enjoy it while you can. IMO - HS baseball sucks compared to what you are experiencing right now.

I agree, the atmosphere around their games was always amazing. If anyone actually kept the game within 8 runs against them, then it was almost like all other games in the park stopped and everyone came over to watch. If you have the best players (from Texas, California, and North Carolina), a really good coaching staff, and a billionaire funding the team, then you’re probably going to get those results.

I also agree with you about enjoying it while you can. I personally feel that 12u baseball is the peak age group in terms of excitement. It is the age when the players become really good, but they are still really into the game, as well as with the parents. It tends to go downhill after 12 in my opinion.
