The 12U year has seen a lot of games on various field sizes. Both huge and small. I guess none smaller than the 200' fences in Cooperstown. Largest i've seen used for 12U this year is 643's 300' field.
We have seen a lot of 12U games this year played on all of the 5 lower fields at East Cobb. Does anyone know the true dimensions of ECB fields 4,5,6,7&8 since there are no signs??

I have been told the following but don't know if it's accurate:
#4 - 245' #5 - don't know #6 - 260' #7 - 215' ish #8 - 215' ish |

You can use Google Maps to measure them. Assuming they're the northerly set of 5 fields on the sat picture, the two smaller ones appear to be 205'-210', the two middle size ones 250'-260' and the biggest 270'-290'. |

Using Google Earth
Field 4 - LF Line=260, CF=260, RF Line=250 Field 5 - LF Line=275, CF=296, RF Line=265 Field 6 - LF Line=245, CF=250, RF Line=255 Field 7 - LF Line=205, CF=205, RF Line=215 Field 8 - LF Line=210, CF=215, RF Line=220

So Back to my original post these tournaments who use multiple size fields within the same tournament I feel can change the outcome of a tournament as the "playing field" changes from game to game. Some teams are more prepared to play on the larger fields while some teams are able to capitalize on the short home runs that if they were on the other field would be outs... |

Part of the beauty of baseball. Unlike all the other major sports, field dimensions change from stadium to stadium and absolutely affect the outcome. You see major league teams build around their home field (ie., speed of the StL Cardinals of the 80's on turf, the Green Monster of Fenway or the short porch in Yankee Stadium). Likewise, a team changes significantly depending on who's on the mound whereas you usually have the same QB in football or the same starting 5 in basketball. Again, that's one of the things that makes baseball so different from those other sports.

Shutout, back to your original post, the shortest field the Bandits have played on this year is Jacket Field at 225' down the lines and 250' to center. The largest field we have played on is 300'. We have played on more 300' fields than any other size. It becomes very important to hit line drives on those fields rather than long fly balls. Our boys have hit 4 home runs on the 300' fields but it's not something we expect to happen. |

I saw a close game recently on a 300' field where 3 of the balls hit by 1 team would have easily gone over a 250' fence. 1 bomb landed just in front of the 300' fence, and that batter wound up scoring anyway, but the other two "shouldda-been" homers were caught for long fly ball outs.
Bandit_Hawk is right, on those 300' fields, you must hit it lower to avoid making outs. These 300' fields will become the norm in 13U, so time to start leveling out those swings. |

Last year at 12 we thought the 7 & 8 fields were small. Now we are at 13 the lower fields feel the same way, small. You will see. I think its better that they can hit the gap and get that double or triple were last year it hit the wall and was a single. |

Very frustrating when one of the faster players bangs one off the wall and it is only a single!! |
