I saw a video of a LH pitcher from the North Georgia Lightning.....All I can say is wow!! He doesn't need to be in AAA, and if they anymore like him I don't see how they will give up a lot of runs..

Spartan:

The lefty you saw is a great pitcher and has been working hard with a great team pitching coach. He throws as hard as most anyone in the state. He also has a great change up that really keeps the batter off balance.

Pitching was our focus this year we wanted to get deeper and better. We have a righty that throws just as hard and just put up a no hitter against a very good N Ga Cougars team yesterday.

We have several more right handers with great pop and good off speed pitches along with a very accurate and crafty lefty.

Out biggest problem to over come is to get our bats and defense more consistant. We just haven't had any field time with all the bad weather and now most of our boys are playing middle school ball and that take away from team practices as well. But we will continue to work and strive to get better.

Papa got to see the lefty and right hander first hand and think that they both are the real deal. I have preached and preached that our North Georgia area is full of talent for years now. We are beginning to find a way to keep this home grown talent at home and the results have been fun to watch for Papa. There are still many of our great North Georgia boys at East Cobb and some of the other Atlanta programs but more and more we are keeping them at home especially in the younger groups. It is and will continue to be hard to keep them after 14 years old but we are beginning to work on that now.

Thaank you baseballbapa. The righty you speak of is my child. He is a good athelete. Our pitching as a team has come along way and we hope we continue to get better as the season goes. We have several others that can bring it on any given day and hope to prove that this weekend.

And you should be, the two people who bragged on your son have seen a TON of major talent across the nation. I know both guys and they don't get impressed every game or even every weekend. Your son is the real deal, I hope whatever classification you play you make sure he is challenged and continues to develop into an even better pitcher.

Personally I would rather have a losing record against the best as opposed to just running over AA/AAA tourneys. I don't think y'all will have any problem fitting into the major classification. The travel, logistics and money side of it is what really makes major ball tough.

Spartan4,

Thanks for the kind words about our players and our team. We signed up originally this year as a major team. USSSA chose to move us down during the reclassification. I know that USSSA looks at teams during the year and will ajdust teams as they see fit. It may be out of our control either way. If they decide that we have earned the right to be called a major team we will wear that badge with pride and continue to go out a compete and give it our all.

We feel we have the talent to compete at the major label but only time will tell if we are correct. The upcoming AAA S-NIT will shake things up a little and give us an idea of what we need to work on further. It is a little hard to tell what you have when you have played 8 games this year and 3 of those were againt the Bandits because they expose all of a teams weekness.

Again thanks for the kind words and if you are at the S-NIT please come over and introduce yourself.

Fourseam, I sent the video of your lefty to Spartan4 during our game on Sunday. Your team is unbelievably loaded with pitching. I saw three righty's and the lefty pitch for you guys this past weekend. All were very impressive and could easily make the Bandits roster. Best of luck to you guys this weekend in the Super NIT !!

My picks for the #1 seed in pool play:

Pool A-------WF Diamond Dawgs
Pool B-------SS Spartans blue

Looks like a lot of tough matchups.
