I have seen several instances lately of base runners on third base distracting the pitcher with noises and non-base running type body movement. Is it old-school to frown on such things? I am all for ‘base running’ type movements to distract the pitcher, but am I alone in believing that the angry grade school teacher clapping their hands routine needs to go? Curious.
Y is it's bush league just becuase its not the way one is accustom to. This is not the 70's nor 90's. The game has change and will continue to change. It sounds to me, the team is not property coached to handle aggresive base runner nor basebase in gerenal.REC TEAM.
Wow. Get used to it. I hate it too and my kid plays 13U. He actually did it today and his coach yelled at him to stop. I had to laugh at both of them bc I couldn't figure out which annoyed me most.
"Bush" is stealing pitch signs at 9U. We are only 1.5 tournaments into the season and have already seen 3 teams either signaling our pitches to their batters or outright calling them. It doesn't take a coaching genius to figure out signs when these kids only through FB and change. And the signs are 9U appropriate (meaning simple). I know stealing signs is part of the game at older levels, but I see no place for that at this level.
I have had parents call my signs to their batters standing in the box. I look at this one way.... the other team needs to resort to stealing your pitches only becuase they are NOT good enough to hit your pitcher without knowing what is on the way. I like to win but really...The East Georgia Misfits did not have many hits last weekend in Jonesboro and I saw every sign the catcher threw down. I didn't say a word to my kids. I was more interested in how the other coach called pitches in certain situations.Maybe if I picked the signs we would have hit better but that's not a very good reputation to have. Even for my son who typically hits around .700 did not have a true hit in the tournament. It would have been easy for me to tell him what was comming just so his numbers looked good but those numbers really don't mean much. If you have an older child that plays you will understand.
I have a 12u that plays and we had an entire team calling out pitches and still they only managed to score 3 runs in 6 innings. It's pretty simple 1 might be gas in inning #1 but it might be a change up in inning #3... BOY DOES SHUT THEM UP.You talk about looking bad...wow.

It is not the 70's or the 90's true. Without question any Professional baseball player from those errors or today’s would call the actions childish - no question. Today I saw a team, talent wise a strong team, taunt an opposing pitcher in the middle of their windup. I would be ashamed of my Son.
<< have already seen 3 teams either signaling our pitches to their batters or outright calling them.>>
Its not the signs that are being stolen. Its the pitcher giving away the pitch or showing the grip. Only adjusting the grip on the changeup. Looking closer at the grip on a changeup. Etc.
Get the pitchers in the habit of fiddling with the ball in their glove each and every pitch.
Doing almost anything that college and high school players don't do could probably be considered "bush". I haven't seen any college players clapping while getting leads.
