Older son is 16U so haven't purchased a bat for a 9U in a while. Younger son is playing first full season with big barrel in spring of 2011 after 4 years of Dizzy Dean rec. He will probably swing a 28/18 this year. I am looking for an economical, quality bat and would love to hear your input. Our experience with the older son was to buy last years model as the new models came out to save some bucks.

Easton Rival 27/17. $179. I don't know if that is economical but my son really likes the bat. I haven't heard anything really negative about it either. Worth Prodigy I THINK is a little cheaper but a couple kids I know have dented theirs without even really hitting that much. Just my $0.02

I 1000000% agree. Got one for my 11yo last year and he will be using it again this year. Just picked up a -10 for my 9yo, can't wait to see him hit with it. Graduating from the Prodigy will be nice and the pop in the B1 is ridiculous.

W, good news you can buy the Combat B1 right now @ combatsonline.com for $189. You just can't beat that deal! Just bought another one but an inch longer. While I was at it I bought my daughter the Combat Lisa Fernandez, I hope it's just as good as the B1...

The B1 is indeed a good bat. But I think the Prodigy has more pop at the lower age groups. Bought a B1 for my 8u (now 9u) son, and he ended up sticking with the Prodigy, because it performed better. My 11u son used his B1 last year and it was a great bat for him.

There is a dealer on eBay that is selling the Worth Prodigy Sr League Big barrell new with warranty. It is the 2010 model(black and red). You have to bid but there isn't a reserve and we were able to get one shipped for under $110.

Both of my boys are Demarini kids. My 12u uses a Voodoo and my 9u uses a vexxuum. We have a prodigy 28/18 but his vexxuum is hotter.
