Since DecaturDad and bturner have moved up in class nobody is really talking about the AA teams anymore so I guess I will.....

I went down to Hidden Valley and watched the tournament last weekend and saw some good teams. The Acworth Warriors Orange and the Georgia Nitro both looked good in the pool games I watched. Was not surprised to see them in the 'ship. I see the Covington Sting are playing up with the AAA teams this weekend in Conyers....they are a good team so maybe they can hold their own against some of the better AAA teams.

Hopefully between now and the SNIT we will get a better picture of how this classification will shake out and who the leaders will be.

Over in the Lilburn the AA Ga Select team beat the alpharetta A's in the championship and Alpharetta is a top notch AAA team they also killed 643 DP which has a good program also. So watch out for that team.

Nice to see AA getting some love on here! Looking forward to see how this division shakes out and who gets reclassified mid-year. I think several AA teams have added some arms and will compete at higher levels after a few tourneys. Acworth had a strong showing at hidden valley but keep in mind it's a long time until June.

Select,

What tournament are you speaking about in Lilburn and did you all beat the 643 Cougars or Jaguars? There is a big difference between them the two.

Where can I go (online) to find some upcoming AA tournaments? We have a new team and don't think we can compete too often at AAA.

The best place for AA tournaments is USSSA...here is a link to upcoming 11AA tournaments: http://tinyurl.com/4flxrhg

Of course this site has a very comprehensive list of all tournaments in all ages and all classifications here: http://www.nwgabaseball.org/Articles/Tournaments.html

Hope this helps!!

ATLawman,

There is a AA tourney this weekend hosted by the Acworth Blue team and I know they are looking to add a few AA teams even on late notice. You can call Tim Terill at 770-815-6728 for more info.

Ga Select has 2 11u teams where one is AAA which beat parkview this week in a championship. The other is a new team and they are the AA team which won the championship over Alpharetta A's. Also blue balked home a run for Alpharetta in that game also.

Dont know, but we beat the same Alpharetta A's team that lost 10-5 to East Cobb Braves and they also beat West Forsyth Diamond Dawgs last week.

I hope you are right....but we will definitely find out this year. It is our first year as a team and we put together a group of players that have never played higher than AA but hopefully we can coach them up to compete with the AAA teams next year and maybe even Major in a couple of years. It is like we told them this week....we are either going to be a great team one day or we are going to be the world's greatest push up team. Ask me again in June and I will let you know how we did ;)

Hey Gwinnett....I am slow...help me here. Are you being sarcastic? I have heard great things about the crossroads program but are you saying that losing in Game 1 of bracket play to another AA team makes them a team to watch? Don't read too far into that one loss. It's early in the season. Coming from the south side, we are usually the last to hear anything, but from what I hear the crossroads group are on the fast track to good things.

Coachtony, what I'm saying is Crossroads team was the only team to keep the Ga select 1 point away. If fact Crossroads should have won that game. You know how that gos should of, could of, etc. Had Ga select lost that game they wouldn't have gone any further. So, yes I'm saying they are a AA team to keep a eye on! I also was told they have a couple beast players on that team.

They do need a sarcastic font on this site. I try to use lol when I'm being sarcastic.

In Macon this weekend there are 11 teams signed up ( http://www.usssa.com/sports/Bracket.asp?Type=Winners&Tournament=704519 ) for the Diamond AA Classic. When I signed us up, there was 3 of the top 5 USSSA AA teams in it but the Covington Sting pulled out as they decided to play AAA in Conyers (mad respect that that). Some of the teams in that tournament are good....Coach Chip's Home Plate team has reloaded this year and you have to be careful with Coach Ernie's Vipers..in the fall they showed some moments of greatness for a new team. I just dont know anything about the Middle Georgia teams. This will be the first time I have had a chance to see most of them play. Anybody know anything about them??

Gwinnett,

Crossroads was not the only team to play Select well. In fact the team that lost to them in the championship, the Alpharetta A's beat Select during pool play 13-2. One could argue that the A's had a bad day on Sunday with a 1 run loss and played with what they are really capable of during pool play with a 11 run win. Either way, its way too early in the season to predict.

I just have to ask, especially with the statement" I heard they have some beasts on that team" does your kid play on the Legends?

Crossroads pitcher would be in the starting rotation on any major team and 643 had a kid throwing in the 70's consistantly 72 & 73. The pitcher for crossroads was one of the beast that Gwinnett is speaking about.

smarks, you mean one could say Ga Select had a bad game against the A's in pool play. Who said I was predicting anything. I'm not sure what your talking about a 1 run loss? The A's didn't have a 1 run loss at all on Sunday. I posted the results a few posts up. I believe what I said was "they are a AA team to keep an eye on"(crossrds). The two beasts were, one kid hit a couple out and another kid pitched well. Just because I said "beast" I have a kid on the team?

What team do you represent?

What exactly is your point smarks?

BTW, my son plays on a 12u team. If you look back through all my posts it will be easy to figure out our team.
