Congrats to the 2011 GA Yarddogs - Blk for punching the 1st ticket to the 2011 9u Elite 32 WS in Orlando at Disney.
The Yarddogs started slow losing their 1st game on Friday to the Greenville, SC Titans 14-9.
However, their STELLAR pitching and stingy defense gave their bats time to warm up and they won the last 5 games in a row.
Honestly, it was a little unfair as the 2011 dogs, a compilation of the 6u & 7u Yarddogs - Red and Yarddogs - blk teams are abundantly blessed with several crafty lefties and a number of hard throwing righties.
BIG kudos go out to Coach Roc (and Tan the team mom) for managing all that talent and keeping everything organized and everybody happy. SEE YOU AT DISNEY !!!!! |

Thanks for the congrats...The South Carolina Super NIT was a relatively well run event (except for the scoreboards weren't working).
Officiating was good mostly and the participants were competitive; everyone was playing to win.
I suspect we'll see more teams from GA over there next year as it was only a 3.5 hour drive.
Anybody thinking of heading to Orlando in November for the Thanksgiving Super NIT? The 9u Yarddog's old time nemesis, the 9u Miami Prospects are entered. They're sitting out there with their pristine, unblemished record! We hooked up with them before at 7u and they run a great program. While the 7u Blk yarddogs were able to take them out in the 7u Kid Pitch WS a few yrs back, the Prospects SMASHED the 7u Red yarddogs TWICE who were then sitting number 1 in the country in power rating and points; loses that precipitated the dissolving of the Red yarddogs!
It sure would be nice to get some revenge on their home turf.
Maybe we'll see you there!!!!

How was that team comprised? Is it a combination of several? Chosen from a wide area? Great kids, wonderful team, just asking. |

The composition of the 2011 9u Yarddog-Blk team that went to S.C. and won the Super NIT event was approximately 2/3 2008-10 Yarddog-Blk players and 1/3 2008-2009 Yarddog-Red players.
At 6u, the Yarddog-Red team won the coach pitch WS Event in Chattanooga, TN going 8-0.
At 7u the Yarddog-Blk finished 2nd in the kid pitch WS Event beating the Miami Prospects (Now Team MVP) along the way. The 7u Yarddog-Red team finished 5th in the kid pitch WS Event and 2nd in the coach pitch WS Event beating some stellar teams from Mississippi (Storm & Mustangs) but losing twice to an OUTSTANDING Alabama Bandits Team.
I think Buzz Baseball hooked up with those Alabama Bandits at 8u coach pitch last year once or twice and wound up on the losing end. |

As to your other questions, the Yarddog-blk group is primarily form east of Atlanta (Gresham Park) and the Yarddog-Red group from west of Atlanta (Sandtown Park).
It is a great group of kids; a bunch who still haven't turned 9 yet. If you look at the SNIT results, the dogs gave up very few runs in the bracket. And if you look at the records of the teams, for some of them, it is their only loss of the fall.
The 9u RBI Rangers for example, have since come to Atlanta and won a tournament.
The dogs pitching is dominate and I know my son has picked up a few more mph since October!!!
Now we just have to get better, manage the talent, and relax and let the boys play ball!!! |

Those Yard Dog Red teams from 6u & 7u were REALLY good! Our Hopewell team also played and beat those two Mississippi teams from the 7u season, but we never could beat the Yard Dogs. |

WoW!!! I'm excited about the upcoming season. I have seen alot of 9u baseball. I think it was very smart for the dogs to win a spot to the Elite early. Was it becuase they thought it would be difficult to win a snit against the top teams in GA? I think teams like East Cobb Longhorns and the GA Raiders will to go to the Elite 32. I cant wait to see these teams in full swing of baseball this year. I wish the best to the rest of the 9u teams.

And, the USSSA Alabama Super NIT trophy in their back pocket...just saying. |

The RBI Ranger team looked good, but I thought the Red Sox team blew themselves up in the Semi's. |

Looks like The Buzz is opting to play north at the beginning of the 2011 season. I guess it's quite a ways to travel south to the Marietta area or further to Henry Co.
I sure hope they decide to come this way soon as I'm excited to see them on the field. Maybe we'll get to hook up with them in an Alabama event with The Bandits, HRTA Heat and the team out of Dothan that's been playing good ball.
Add a few top Georgia teams and that would be some kind of event to see!!!! |

It would be nice if the Bandits and Heat would come play in some Southernbaseball.net tournaments. I know the Buzz traveled to Alabama twice to play them last year. Would be great to see the 9u game played at its highest level. |

seems to me all of the good teams are playing in Atlanta in the Super NIT! I already think the best in class is signed up!. Bandits will not be much of a factor in Kid Pitch. Keep in mind, the team was comprised from two cities 60 miles apart from each other. They had to rotate practices home & home, twice a week to share the pain & cost of travel to & from. It will get old & the parents will tire shortly from the exhaustion. I do not know of any Georgia teams that have gone to that extreme to win a championship! However, I am sure there will be a few who will step it up. Roadrunners are setting the trend in the older age bracket recruiting players from afar I hear. There is still plenty of time for the Buzz to enter the ATL SNIT to test there skills with the best. |
