I have been reading post on this forum for a while and it seems like nobody likes to talk much about the little guys, I am here to change that. Who do we think will end up in the top 5 or top 10 this spring. This will be the prediction of all predictions since most of the teams are coming straight out of Dizzy Dean and have not faced live(kid) pitching. I know most of the top teams in the Dizzy Dean State tournament are making the move to travel this year so it looks like the Southside boys that get started at 7U will have a lot of new competition. I will start the list off based off what I have read on the 9yr old forum.

1. Atlanta Blue Jays
2.
3.
4.
5.

did the blue jays play any this fall? I am in cobb and the few travel teams around us played coach pitch in the fall. One team I am aware of that went ahead and made the jump to kid pitch and played all 9's was holly springs scorpions. east cobb i know has 1 team but they might have 2. 643 has 1 team. kennesaw has a team not sure on if they are coach pitch or kid pitch. I know ecb played some fall coach pitch tournaments but did not move up yet. I would assume they will go kid pitch soon. I think most of the 8's close to cobb will play in 9's half the time. Which I think will help them for the future. Should be fun to watch the little guys improve as they move along the baseball journey. Next year tons of teams will jump in I would think.

As far as I know the Blue Jays played up at 9U this fall. From what I understand EC will have 2 teams for sure, 643 will have 1, Kennesaw, New Hope, Holly Springs, Acworth and a team from Bartow. I think its safe to say that a large majority of the top 10 teams from Dizzy Dean have made the transition but we will have to see how many start right into kid pitch. There is alot of upcoming talent in this age group.

There is just no way to tell who the top teams will be next year. You will not have an idea of who the best teams are going into a season until 10 or 11 yrs. old.

Drop10, if your refering to the 9U posts, I think you are making referrences to the Atlanta Angels. To my knowledge the Blue Jays didn't play this Fall. We played 9U this past Fall with marginal success but I feel good about the our chances of competing against the top 9u teams in the Spring. We will play all 9u during the season and make decision on what age (8u or 9u) to play for post season in May.

As far as rankings go, it's extremely hard to do at 8u and 9u because so many teams haven't faced each other due to some coming from CP and others already in KP, not to mention changes in roster. Besides the Angels, there are a few very good hitting teams that regularly played in USSSA tournaments last year that will probably be near the top of the heat this year. (South DeKalb Greys, Gamers Red, Yard Dogs, Newton Heat, NBS Typhon and Sharpesburg Braves)

Angels1: I agree. It is hard to say who will be the top five at 8U. There will probably be a lot of new quality teams emerge at this age level. I think the top teams that have already been playing KP would have to be (Atlanta Angels, Yarddogs, Gamers Red, S. Dekalb Grays and the Walton Warriors). There are a group of teams that will be playing CP and then transitioning to KP (Bulldog Baseball, East Cobb Astros, ABA Braves "Sharpsburg Brave", HP Chilidogs and the Newton Heat). Does anyone know what the Typhoon will be playing this Spring (KP or CP)? In CP only, I think the Triple Threat, Ga Stingers and Macon Warriors should have an early edge.

8u Teams where are you? Will we get an opportunity to see the top 8u teams in one tournament this year?

I don't see much action going on in the 8u division yet (as far as registering for upcoming tournaments). I remember last February the 8u division had more than 12 teams in the USSSA February Frost. We participated in it and it was a great way to start the season. Hopefully the 8u teams are still getting their rosters together and will be full force with more than 20 tournament teams participating come April/May.

The Atlanta Angels don't play often in our age group but we will participate in the up coming Nations: Spring Clash on April 8th - 10th. This will be a great opportunity for everyone to sneak a peek at next years 9u class.

Newton Heat's plan is to play coach pitch for most if not all of this season.I have tried to recruit some of their players and most (not all) want to stay with CP. They do have a couple of kids that throw as good and hard as most of my 9U.

From the results of this past weekend, it looks like the Elite Gamers Red and the Bulldogs are taking command of the 8u KP Division as they both win their respective tournamants. Runner-ups were the Yard Dogs Black and the ECB Titans. Congrates Coaches!

Typhoon are playing kid pitch this season playing both 8U and 9U events. Playing more triple crown than USSSA. Just finished 2nd place in the ECB Wolfpack 9U Invitational this past weekend

OK..... now that the Atlanta Super NIT is over and the smoke has cleared the Atlanta Angels did not dissappoint. Playing five games and scoring a total of 54 points and only allowing 4. They seemed to be on cruise control the entire weekend the rest of the field made them appear to be in a league of their own.

John Milner Sports Complex will be hosting the Nations Spring Clash the weekend of April 29th. It looks like the 8u division just enjoyed a great weekend of competitive baseball so lets do it again on April 29th.

The following teams are already committed:
1. Atlanta Angels
2. Sandtown Thunder
3. Sandtown Angels Blue

Let's get the dialog going in 8U. We have played a couple KP tournaments now, so I have been able to see most of the teams. Based on the teams we have played or seen, I believe the following are the one's to beat:

1. Atlanta Angels
2. Elite Gamers
3. Bulldogs Baseball
4. East Cobb Astros
5. Georgia Yarddogs

It would be nice to see a debate get started on who the top teams are and why.

A couple of teams still getting their legs in Kid Pitch are 643, and the
the Kennesaw Generals had a great 1st Kid pitch tourney by winning the silver bracket in the Backyard Brawl.
Teams with talent and potential:
Chilidogs, SBA Scorpions, New Hope Rangers, Cherokee Reds, NBS Typhoon, and the EC Titans.
It's still early in the 8u season and lots to learn. Coaching and consistancy will be key.

I would agree with the top 2 on your list, but gibing Bulldog Baseball the 3rd slot after one kid pitch tourney is a little premature in my opinion! I know for a fact that a couple of those teams in that particular tourney were without some of there top pitchers....not to take anything away from the Bulldogs, I know there head coach and runs a good progrom and they should be considered a strong team in any tourney they play in. I have yet to see the Astros team and Yarddogs Black has a lineup full of hitters, and there lefty can bring it strong for 3 innings at a time!!!!

There is a tourney in Conyers the weekend of April 30th with quite a few teams making the jump ro KP.....I think by the first of June we should have a good idea of where everybody stands.
