Looks like there are 10 teams at EC in this age group, are there more? Also, how would you rank the teams? I see several really strong/major teams there but don't know what each one did as far as off season pick ups. Comments? |

Perhaps, it makes more sense to lump them into groups such as majors, AAA and down the line.... |

Have watched a couple of the Extreme games and they look strong....some big guys with strong arms...and good bats... |

I talked with one of the 13U coaches today and he told me the Extreme just filled out their roster with the big left-hander from the south side who went with them to Cooperstown. From what I saw of the Extreme during the fall, it looks like their pitching and defense will be strong and adding this kid gives them yet another big arm, plus another solid bat. They struggled at the plate some in that TC tournament but I understand they decided to play fall baseball late and their players didn't get a lot of reps at the plate, so I guess that is understandable. If that team comes around at the plate, their pitching staff may be the 2nd best in the age group behind only the Astros.
Overall, I'd probably rank the top 4 or 5 13U teams in this order: 1) Astros 2) 45s 3) Extreme 4) Braves 5) Pride or Titans. (If they stay together, I'd say Pride, but a lot of players have left this team, so Titans most likely get the nod here.)

That is a pretty good list, not much to argue. Astros probably get the nod on reputation, because they did not play in the fall, so who knows. 45s proved themselves this fall playing some good baseball. Extreme does have some really good pitching, which will keep them in games all year. Not real sure about the Braves. They lost some really good players.Pride situation changes daily it seems, so I have no idea. Titans will be strong, but how strong is a guess. I know they practice ALOT.
The rest of the field is easy...Longhorns will be good, not great.
Yankees, Warriors, etc will be about what they have been, competing at a lower level, without much depth, but with a few solid players on each team that will get deserved recognition. |

1. Astros until proven otherwise 2. Braves have reloaded and were there last year 3. 45's until they beat the 2 teams above 4. Pride had a good fall, need to stick together 5. Titans played made a good showing in the fall 6. Extreme were 1 and 6, and Longhorns didnt fair to well either against majors last year. So they are at the bottom until they beat a some majors. |
