No one said there are not other good places to play good baseball!! Have you even read any of my other posts?? I still stand by my statement! Didn't seminoletony say he models his program from ECB?? I think that statement says a lot!! Show me another program that has as many talented players/teams in each age group. AGIAN, I know there are other great teams around, but the best "program" over all is ECB. Isn't that why your teams come to play in most of our tournaments? Look forward to playing you all in the spring. Best of luck to all teams in Georgia!!

Seminole Tony...good post. In championship game versus the Gamers, saw #27 from the Stixx pitch from 3rd - 7th inning giving up no hits, 10 K's, no walks, no earned runs. That was a pretty impressive performance.

Cutoff and Knuckle....

You both bring up valid points. I know for a fact good baseball is played outside of Cobb and ECB, it is evidenced week after week, fall and spring. I think the "problem" is that you have teams from the Southside scream "look at me. look at me" and that rubs people the wrong way. It is kind of like the guy that claims to have played ball in college, and says "I would have been drafted but I tore up my elbow,etc"....Just prove it on the field!!!!! And TO THE CREDIT of the Southside teams, THEY DO!Having said that, I think the OVERALL quality is North, and yes I am biased.

Good baseball is played all over GA, and I would prefer that NS and SS teams take pride in that, versus a rivalry with each other. Either way, we all have talented boys and need to cherish that. If it leads to something more, great. I have seen some amazing kids North and South, and they all deserve our attention.

I think the OVERALL quality is SOUTH, and YES I am Bias.

For the last two years I have been reading posts on NWBA and it has been all ECB and very little else. Go back in the archives and look yourself. Now that other programs are starting to excel and playing quality ball the battle cry starts "Wait till spring". We will wait till spring but today the better "fall teams" are coming from other areas. Not putting down ECB or any other programs. ECB has been a model for other programs to learn from and I really would like to thank them for that because without them we would not push to help the kids be as good as they can be. ECB is the top of the mound and now there are others stepping up to try and knock them off. Be proud of that. We... like our kids learn from examples and we are taking away from ECB what we can use and applying our own twists. We don't have the facilities nor the cash flow yet but we do our best with what we have. Programs combining and merging draws bad press from the north but at ECB they take the best from a pool to make a team and then start cutting the rest up to form 4-5-6 teams. How is that different?
You have football on the north side just like us, but we know we need the extra exposure and practice to compete at your level. Don't take the "little" praise we give to these programs in the fall and start degrading them. No one is "screaming" "Look at me". We are posting the same way everyone else has on this site for years. It's just a couple of "New" voices doing the talking. Take the postings at that... proud dads, grandparents, coaches, and fans. As I have posted in the past, I would love to see at least a half dozen teams from Georgia whipping up on some FL.,TX.,Cali. teams in the ELITES.
Competition is good.

I watched some great baseball this weekend.

Kids will do and say the darn est things.

As always ECB and Triple Crown put on a good tourney(didn't like playin at Bethel park though...that intersection is a ball magnet).

Congrats to the top 4 teams in the finals. The championship could have gone to any one of them. I know this age group will put out some
great high school, college and hopefully pro players.

This may be a new thread. Quality players from the weekend I enjoyed
watching.
1. MGBA Braves shortstop. This kid made some great scoops and plays.
2. Stixx player. Watched him take a eye high fastball off the plate over the fence on a rope.
3.ECB Titans pitcher that started against the Stixx in quarters. Had great control and velocity.
4.Elite Gamer's Catcher. Threw out close to 50% of base stealers he threw on. Also picked off kids with big leads at second.

I'm sure there were plenty more. Thoughts on this or other players???

Never say always Knuckle, even the Roman Empire fell. We as parents need to be careful how we post on here. At the end of the day ECB has more kids playing out of their program because the population is much greater in that area. If you relocated ECB to Hogansville, GA., which is in between Newnan and Lagrange, all of a sudden ECB would lose its greatness. ECB has a superb location, fantastic instructors, and a large talent pool to pull from. I do think HP, Gamers, Stixx or someone else will beat some great ECB teams. If that does happen I will leave you a great question. Either the southside teams will have better talent or better coaching. I will let you decide, if in fact, one of the southside teams knocks out a top tier ECB team on Sunday. Sunday because that's when all the chips are on the table.

seminole tony-Stop comparing the North and the South! ECB will always be where the best players want to play. Yes, there are some real good teams on the Southside, but I wouldn't try to compare a few good teams to a program like ECB! The fall is just the fall, borrowed players, rosters not complete. That is why I say wait until the spring. As we all read the Elitegamers have not had much field time and their rooster was missing a key player this weekend. The Stixx borrowed a player from the 45's.......The fall does not measure the best yet. Again, I can't wait for the real season to start!! Going to be a great season for these 13U boys!!

seminole tony, in response to your thoughts on outstanding player performances, there are a couple that come to mind...

1-I know this is 13U, but if you didn't get a chance to see the 12U Bandits, you missed a treat. Very impressive...again. They may have very well competed well at 13U level.
2-Championship game pitching performance...#27 for Stixx pitched from 3rd inning on through 7 versus the Elite Gamers. Gave up no earned runs, no hits and 10K's (not sure if there were any walks or not).

Your right knucklecurve, Fall tournaments, barrowed players, etc... The score reflected a good game between stixx and gamers for the title. Stixx barrowed 1 EC 45, 2 CBA Cyclones, and 1 13u playing for the 14u Huntsville Vipers. The same Viper/Stixx player hit a HR with 2 men on which ended up being the margin of victory 7-4. These players will be extremely difficult to replace in the Spring. Therefore, CONGRATS TO BOTH TEAMS, live and enjoy the moment as Spring will be here soon with guns blazing!!!

battinglast=People drive further than Lagrange and Newnan to play ECB! I doubt ECB will ever fall! We will see what happens in the spring when the borrowed players are all gone. ;) The south really needs to settle down.

No matter what is said, I think it's impossible to ignore the fact that travel baseball in Georgia is as big as it is, in large part, because of the legacy of ECB. When Sports Illustrated writes about it (Jason Heyward article), then it has a wide ranging impact. Everyone, including teams from the south, have gotten a lot better because ECB set the pace.

Tiger Woods has made all golfers better. The New York Yankees (hated as they are) have forced other teams to get better. Excellence breeds excellence.

Do some connected to ECB overstate things at times? Sure. Do some on the southside overstate things at times? You bet.

When spring comes, we may find that those "borrowed" players were replaceable and had marginal impact on improving teams. As a result, many of those good, fall teams, will be just as good in spring. Spring may come and we find that some of the NS teams are just as dominant as they have been.

Or...we will see that, at times, ECB teams excel with quite a few southside players. And...in turn, there are some former ECB players that have wanted to play closer to home, so they are playing for the southside teams.

Here is the reality. I am pretty stoked about the level of play and the level of competition of baseball in Georgia. We are now in the top few states in the nation for baseball recruiting. And, in large part, this can be attributed to the strength of travel ball and organizations like ECB, Home Plate, Road Runners, Chain, and the list goes on. Each area - north and south - has great strengths. And, because of it, each area drives others to become better.

Heck...I can even say that, because of the level of excellence my son and I have seen all over Georgia, it drives him to work hard and be better. Whoever he plays for, he wants to know that he can compete with the best...North and South. So, let's go to work and make everyone better.

No borrowed players at Home Plate. We had a successful fall season and will be returning fully intact in the spring.

We "model" our programs by drawing our teams from larger pools of players(not just from the small rec. teams locally as we have done in the past). We search out more talented and experienced coaches to work with programs.
We do visit your facilities because they are established and one of the better local ball parks. But that is even changing with building of the HP "CHUCK". It's top notch. Maybe not as big,(state of the art though) but it's a start.
As a side note...the Pride are playing in Stockbridge this weekend, by your logic your saying that Stockbridge has a top of the line program also(No offense Stockbridge)?
I know parents and kids have in the past sought out ECB, But "times are a changin". Your sales lines might have to change soon."Come to ECB where you pay more, put up with more politics and compete against just as talented southside teams. Maybe we should start saying "we draw a large number of kids from East Cobb". Will that make our programs seem that much better??
This topic was suppose to be on a Triple Crown Tournament and has again turn into how the Southside is just the red-headed step child of the mighty ECB program.
Beisbol.. I did happen to watch a little of the Badits game. We have some friends on that team that we used to play with and the boys are still good friends. They are very well coached and have the talent to walk into any tourney and win it all.

And trust me most of these rantings come with a big smile and tongue in cheek.

Back to the Triple Crown Tournament.

Did you see that number 25 i think it was from Stixx. He had bases loaded against the Elite Gamers on Saturday. And then he struck out the next 3 to save the inning with out any runs. He is very talented and from Alabama. He is apart of CBA CYCLONES. Its his first year with them. And he also pitched against Knockhouse Saints for 4 Innings. That was a great game.
