Stixx versus Elite Gamers at 3:30 on Saturday should be an interesting game. Too bad it's at Mt. Bethel instead of ECB. |

Stixx has better pitching than most teams in this tournament but look for MGBA to make a showing. This age group will come down to who can manage the best game. Lots of super talent out there but only a hand full of great managers of the game. Only time will tell. |

There are gonna be some great match-ups this weekend. I'm figuring Stixx and Gamers to go far. Also looking for great things from the Titans,Knockhouse, and MGBA. It should be a dandy! |

Stixx will have 2 kids from CBA Cyclones this weekend. One is a very good player with limited experience at the Major level. He is there for Stixx only. He will not be playing 14U. Stixx and CBA have a very good relationship. We will go out of our way to help them when they need players. They have done so for us in the past. They are a class bunch. |

Well, I suppose that I will be able to answer my own question Friday night. Knockhouse plays EC Extreme at Mt. Bethel in an 8:30 game.
They got off to a slow start with the Extreme but looked good against the Titans and 6-4-3. A definite force to be reckoned with in the spring. |

I guess I'm four for four on this time around. Knockhouse played a great game this morning against Stixx with a game ending play at the plate. The best game I've seen played all tournament. Both teams deserve a lot of credit. |

Very impressive baserunner. You just gained some predicting clout with me. And...actually you are 5 for 5. Very nice...

I am pretty sure everyone knew about the Gamers and Stixx last season. Not sure why you feel you are having to prove anything? There is a lot of talent all over Georgia this year. Can't wait for the spring! Congrats to the Stixx and the Gamers! There was a lot of good baseball in the tourney this weekend. |

Knucklecurve its because some feel the need to downgrade the quality of baseball these kids play and comparing every accomplishment to how the Northside teams are better. Maybe or maybe not! Some cant grasp that good baseball really exists outside of Cobb County. Go back and read the posts and its clear there are a few on here with agendas against certain Southside programs for whatever reason. It does makes for good conversation though, and your right...It should be an exciting spring! |

cutoffman-My son plays in Cobb County(ECB), but I know that good baseball is all over Georgia. I saw it all last season and this past weekend. Some of these people posting are narrow minded and suck the fun out of this!! This is going to be a very exciting spring for ALL of the 13U Georgia teams. No one should even try to figure out a top ten right now. I for one have no idea who will be the best because the talent has been spread all over. |

Cutoff and Knuckle....
You both bring up valid points. I know for a fact good baseball is played outside of Cobb and ECB, it is evidenced week after week, fall and spring. I think the "problem" is that you have teams from the Southside scream "look at me. look at me" and that rubs people the wrong way. It is kind of like the guy that claims to have played ball in college, and says "I would have been drafted but I tore up my elbow,etc"....Just prove it on the field!!!!! And TO THE CREDIT of the Southside teams, THEY DO!Having said that, I think the OVERALL quality is North, and yes I am biased.
Good baseball is played all over GA, and I would prefer that NS and SS teams take pride in that, versus a rivalry with each other. Either way, we all have talented boys and need to cherish that. If it leads to something more, great. I have seen some amazing kids North and South, and they all deserve our attention. |

The worst thing about baseball is that it isnt' year round. Let's pray for an early spring and warm, dry weather. Because I think even the football parents are wishing their kid would have played in some of these tournys. Its gonna be like Maxwell House, Good to the Last Drop! |

For the last two years I have been reading posts on NWBA and it has been all ECB and very little else. Go back in the archives and look yourself. Now that other programs are starting to excel and playing quality ball the battle cry starts "Wait till spring". We will wait till spring but today the better "fall teams" are coming from other areas. Not putting down ECB or any other programs. ECB has been a model for other programs to learn from and I really would like to thank them for that because without them we would not push to help the kids be as good as they can be. ECB is the top of the mound and now there are others stepping up to try and knock them off. Be proud of that. We... like our kids learn from examples and we are taking away from ECB what we can use and applying our own twists. We don't have the facilities nor the cash flow yet but we do our best with what we have. Programs combining and merging draws bad press from the north but at ECB they take the best from a pool to make a team and then start cutting the rest up to form 4-5-6 teams. How is that different? You have football on the north side just like us, but we know we need the extra exposure and practice to compete at your level. Don't take the "little" praise we give to these programs in the fall and start degrading them. No one is "screaming" "Look at me". We are posting the same way everyone else has on this site for years. It's just a couple of "New" voices doing the talking. Take the postings at that... proud dads, grandparents, coaches, and fans. As I have posted in the past, I would love to see at least a half dozen teams from Georgia whipping up on some FL.,TX.,Cali. teams in the ELITES. Competition is good.
I watched some great baseball this weekend.
Kids will do and say the darn est things. As always ECB and Triple Crown put on a good tourney(didn't like playin at Bethel park though...that intersection is a ball magnet).
Congrats to the top 4 teams in the finals. The championship could have gone to any one of them. I know this age group will put out some great high school, college and hopefully pro players.
This may be a new thread. Quality players from the weekend I enjoyed watching. 1. MGBA Braves shortstop. This kid made some great scoops and plays. 2. Stixx player. Watched him take a eye high fastball off the plate over the fence on a rope. 3.ECB Titans pitcher that started against the Stixx in quarters. Had great control and velocity. 4.Elite Gamer's Catcher. Threw out close to 50% of base stealers he threw on. Also picked off kids with big leads at second.
I'm sure there were plenty more. Thoughts on this or other players???

wow!, thats like saying auburn & alabama should just take pride in playing good football versus a rivalry with each other. i do agree that the overall quality is north but thats the challenge for us down here, to beat the best & we will keep working to do that. |

Wanted to congratulate the 13U Stixx for great tournament this past weekend, class bunch and deserved to win it. Was proud we (Elite Gamers) were able to compete at their level given lack of field time we have had, not to mention we were missing a key player that would have given us an additional catcher and arm on the mound. We have a long way to go, but based on weekend, we are very excited about the potential product we will be putting on field come Spring 2011. Should be a great age group to compete in and greatly looking forward to it. |

seminole tony-Stop comparing the North and the South! ECB will always be where the best players want to play. Yes, there are some real good teams on the Southside, but I wouldn't try to compare a few good teams to a program like ECB! The fall is just the fall, borrowed players, rosters not complete. That is why I say wait until the spring. As we all read the Elitegamers have not had much field time and their rooster was missing a key player this weekend. The Stixx borrowed a player from the 45's.......The fall does not measure the best yet. Again, I can't wait for the real season to start!! Going to be a great season for these 13U boys!! |

Seminole Tony I really cant argue with much that you said....Also, please note that I did not say (or mean) that Ithought that the SS screamed look at me, that is just what I get from this board. Like I said, you made some good valid points, and were classy doing it. I root for all GA teams, but obviously take pride in ECB and our own teams.
Good luck to you! |

Going Deep, I think you missed a lot of prior posts that got the "North vs South" thing started. No disrespect to any baseball team/program but the truth is most post by teams from the Southside (Stixx, Gamers, HP, etc.) have been positive about their teams and play. There are a few posters on here that are stirring the pot by making negative comments such as see if you can "Slay the Dragon" or "wait till you come up North to face real pitching" at any sign of success by other teams . This type of arrogance is what promotes responses to ECB or other programs when its really just one or two making you look bad. I would like to see real baseball discussion promoting good play and good coaching, rather than negative comments about a team that wins. Wouldnt you agree? |

"ECB will always be where the best players want to play."
No matter how much you want to believe this, it is just not true. ECB has a great program, but not everyone wants to play there. There are plenty of excellent players from all over the state that like where they play and have no interest in playing at ECB. And just because a player chooses to play somewhere else that in no way means they are not good enough to play at ECB. It's been said here before that the whole world of travel baseball does not revolve around ECB. |
