Let's change the subject up a little bit, how would everyone rank the states in the SE for overall travel baseball talent?
Florida, Georgia, Alabama, TN and north & south Carolina?
I think most would agree that Florida is #1, who finishes out the rest of the pack? |

Our age group NC is pretty strong, but I haven't seen a lot of strong 12U teams from NC.....And while I do think NC is strong I still rank GA 2nd. That one kid from the Grasshoppers is very very impressive and I think he might be the best pitcher in the country, but the other teams we have played were no more impressive than the EC teams. |

This seems to be a regional conversation because California, Fla, Tx, and Ga are the strongest Nationally. Other states have top teams as well, but typically not the same quantity as these 4 states. |

The Grasshoppers coach told me that the big kid was recruited away by the Megastars so it's true. Even so, they are still a very good team. |

I think you have to divide Florida up in to two categories. North and South when ranking them.
1. Central/South Florida
2. North Florida
3. Georgia
4. North Carolina
5. South Carolina
6. Alabama |

I put a little thought into this topic because its a very interesting one and came up with 3 factors in creating my top 5 travel ball states:
1. Who is really traveling......We have it a little easy in the SouthEast because most good baseball is only 3 - 5 hours away. But when considering other regions it might take 3 - 5 hours to get out of the state.
2. What state averages the most major teams.....Unless we are considring AA teams that go out of town for a tournament a travel team.
3. Using the Elite 32 and Cooperstown as measuring tournaments what state has the most participation and highest winning percentage.
My vague results show the Following:
1. California
2. A very close second.....Texas
3. Florida
4. Georgia - Mostly because the teams that travel in Georgia usually win or finish in the top 10
5. Take your pick LA or AL both states have respectable travel baseball
.......NC, SC are no where in the top 10....... IMHO |
