Speaking of chasing plastic... Atlanta Chain Lightning is current National and World Champions at this game. My son, when he took off his three weeks from baseball this summer, played this game at the competitive level in the Altanta adult coed league with 900 players and 30+ teams for the first time this summer. Upon leaving the field the first night, he said it was the hardest most competitve sport he had ever played in his life. At 12 years old, he was the youngest player in the league. If baseball does not work out for him, this will be his game in HS, college and beyond. He grew up on an ultimate field watching me and mom play. (literally in a portable crib....) People who have seen him play would get some insight where his horizontal approach to center field comes from...

Been reading through this topic's last couple of pages and I'm confused. Where do I start? And some of the shots men are taking at each other...really?...really?

I don't know why LeftyBat is under attack from different directions. Sounds to me like he's a father happy to have a good fit/situation for his son to continue to develop. Sounds like he's with a group of parents and players who are committed to working as hard in the fall as they will do in the spring. Sounds like they humbly handed a L to a glorious ECB club and fellow posters are a bit more than bitter about the final score.

Make sense of this for me! Why do we criticize and belittle teams who have a full fall schedule? And boys who don't play football? Or criticize other men who don't want to sit on the couch and cheer for players playing football they don't even personally know?

Why are we proclaiming teams the best who aren't even working at the game presently? And brag about their lack of work ethic/effort in the fall? How do we assume them to be best in the future and they aren't being competitive in the NOW?!!

Next - In my experience when I've seen teams with massive rosters of 16+ players, others have referred to the club as "LOADED". No team assembles 16 below average players. So I'd think the Pride expects to have a need for all players or the decision to cut the roster is too difficult to make so carry them all. Not sure how that will last, at this age if you're paying you need to be playing.

BTW, noticed someone added the ECB Titans into their Top 5. Maybe so maybe not just funny how quickly they've given up on the Pride.

LeftyBat you know what your son's club has gotta do this weekend...you would've caught hell on this forum if matched with the ECB Titans in pool play and again it bracket play. Beat them twice and the comments would've been even uglier toward you and the Gwinnett Mythbusters!

I enjoy reading these posts! One thing I know for sure is this 13U age group at East Cobb and Georgia is loaded with quality athletes. The consolidation of several teams creates angst for all in the late summer and fall, but in the spring this is going to create some very good baseball. The jump to 13 will begin the process of forcing teams to create the right team dynamics. As mentioned earlier speed and true power (or lack there of) are two of the factors that force some kids to pitcher only or into their true positions. It will not be as easy to fill an outfield with inexperience or two extra 3b'men who might have played there at 12u.

The overall talent pool at this age is amazing. A lot of great players who work hard at the game year round will make for some great tournaments for all us to follow this spring! There are still several very good players left in free agency and will be fine additions to the team they land on. That said, it is hard to make predictions, but I still enjoy reading them and the supporting banter.

Anybody have any thoughts on any Georgia 13U major teams NOT in the Atlanta area? I'm new here, but curious as to some opinions. Any outside the Atl/South Atl area comparable to these that have been mentioned?

Leftybat,I would like to think everyone who participates does it in fun;however I read a past posting by you(no longer active)in response to "play for free"do you recall? Your response was not popular with me but we learn to move on. I have enjoyed many of the topics and comments recognizing that much of it is done with humor and fun. There is a pool of good teams and players at every level AA,AAA,& Major. Hats off to all coaches, parents, and players who display committment and dedication to making their players and organizations better.

In a few years I would like to see MLB flooded with GA players. Much success to your son and all others who play the game.

I too hope that if my son does not make it to the bigs (likely as we all KNOW the odds are long...) I would love for him to point to someone on TV and tell his son, "I played with or against that player" Sorry about that post. It was a little harsh. Something about the post I replied to just got under my skin and I went off.
If I offended you, my apologies...

1 ECB Astros- The best talent
2 EBC Colt 45's- Have added yet another elite arm
3 GA Roadrunners- Always a contender
4 Gamers- A ton of hitting but not a lot of pitching
5 ECB Braves- Great program need to add players but will be there on Sunday

Honorable mention- ECB Pride, Gwinnett Titans, Stixx, Chain Yankees, Icons

Astros..."the best talent"... They do have some talent but there is another team with the "best talent". Only time will tell if that talent is able to shine thru. I do agree they are #1 until they are beaten.

I believe ol' Lottapop it leaking highly sensitive information about a " Top Secret " team that I have been puting together. I have been canvasing the country side in the Dominican reqruiting young men to come to Georgia and play for me this year. We ain't got much coaching and no state of the art field but these men...I mean boys are use to playing in goat pastures so that wont matter much. I should have them all state side in time for the Slugfest! I just hope the weather is better....theys guys don't like the cold.

For the record there will be NO Dads in the dugout...side note...I will be running things through some sophosticated communication equipment ( ear piece and wrist microphone ) I am working on my spanish as we speak.

Thanks for blowing my cover lottapop....but now that the cat is out of the bag....what the heck...

Dang, the ink hasn't even dried and you are all over it pop.....but Gator, as much as I appreciate your choice of team in football, I think you may be a bit off with your choice for 13u baseball. But again, it remains to be seen, SINCE IT IS THE SECOND WEEK OF FALL AND BASEBALL DOESN'T MATTER YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not so fast, my friends!

I was at ECB tonight while my older son's team was practicing and I had a chance to watch a little bit of a scrimmage between the Extreme and Team Wilson. The Extreme team looked pretty impressive. They may make some noise in this 13 year old age group!
