We are looking for tournaments in august and early septemeber to test drive our team we are putting together. Only shows one in the tournament index...

Anybody know of anything at the 13U level in the next month within a two hour drive of Atlanta? If necessary, we could play 14U...

Did you check Triple Crown? They usually have at least 1 per month in the fall.

I did, but it looked like nothing till sept 10. We are hoping to play a couple tryout tournaments to help pick our team prior to that event. That may be our first tourney with the team we hope to move forward with.

Here's a novel idea, have your kids play other sports. 80 game seasons are enough for a kids arm, pitcher or not a pitcher. Kids that play all year round are being cheated by the pipe dream that some day that it is going to pay off because you play all that baseball. And sometimes, it is actually the wrong person's pipe dream that doesn't allow the kid to play the other sports.

There's a Nations tournament in Conyers. Good one for only $50.00.
Can't beat the price to see how your team looks. There is a $7.00 a head entry fee. Keith usually puts on a good tournament. Dates are Aug 14-15th.

Here's another novel idea....
How about either answering the question posed or don't reply to the topic. How do you know how many games his son has played this year? Maybe he has no interest in playing other sports besides baseball. By this age maybe a player is ready to find one sport they like and concentrate on it rather than being mediocre at several different sports. I believe the original poster was asking about fall tournaments and not anyone's opinion on how to raise his child. By the way, I know his child and he is the best 12 year outfielder that I've seen play.

You took the words right out of my mouth, whit417! My son happens to be very athletic and would probably be very good at football or lacrosse or tennis etc. However, he loves loves baseball and that's what he wants to play. I think it's a great sport and requires a lot of team work which he can learn many lessons from for life in general!

His 13yr old team will also be looking for tournaments in the Fall. So, keep looking for tournaments, LeftyBat, and keep us all posted!!!

My son decided to take a pass on football. As A dad I let him do whatever he wants. (long as he does not overdo things..) The idea that "resting" him from baseball to play football is absurd. His coaches are bummed though... Lost their starting safety/shutdown corner and number one wide reciever and 2 back and a D-1 travel team that lost in the North Metro championship game last season. Two years ago played every down, every play both ways on a team that went undfeated/unscored upon for an entire season.

I personally am happy he is taking a break from football. All it is a wear and tear on his body. If he wants to play football in HS he will make the team, even if he takes the next two years off. Given his size, I think he made a great decision to spare his body.

Why don't you bring your team out to that Nations tourney next weekend... We would love to play you...

Thanks for the kind words whit417....

I agree 100%, my son is 5'4", 145 lbs and can run... would be a great football player if he wanted to play. My rule is that I don't care what he plays, just that he plays something. He loves baseball, works hard and is very good at it. He will play as much as he wants, as long as he wants.

you never know how much ball a kid has played in a team, or whether its a new team and they are trying to get some work in. No need to be ignorant and try to impart your ideas when someone asks a simple question.

We played in the fall brawl this weekend, and would love to get more games/tourneys this fall. Leftybat let us know if you find anythign good.
