Has anyone heard about the number of 11u teams next season at East Cobb? Rumor has it at 12?

I think a 50% jump in the number of teams is too much but if there were going to be several new 11U teams why haven't they announced it yet? If you look at the other age groups, new coaches have been posting looking for players maybe 2 weeks already. |

completely agree. Too many teams already. More is not always merrier.
clock is ticking until the EC clinic.
Anyone out there in the know? |

I think most people thought 8 was too many last season but all 8 teams were competitive in their respective classifications. The problem this year is that there are so many other new teams forming that there won't be enough talent to field 4 additional teams.
As it stands right now, I think the Braves & Stars will be the top dogs but 1-2 other teams are starting to add good ball players and you will see a much wider gap between these 3-4 teams vs. the remaining 4-5 EC teams. To me, this is actually a good thing, it will increase the number of major teams in this age group. |

I've heard that two to four new teams/coaches may be announced by the end of this week. I agree, way too many teams. Getting practice time will be challenging and force some teams to look to nearby schools and churches.
I expect a couple of the coaches to be from recently split or disbanded 10U teams. With many of other local rosters finalizing in the next week and a half, and ongoing "private" try-outs at ECB, the remaining talent pool for the ECB try-outs could be pretty depleted. Some will likely end up competing at the AA level. |

I think you'll have many more teams then you thought competing at AA out of EC. As people are posting on this board, a few returning teams have really added some talent. We'll see what the final rosters look like once the try outs are over. |

Cutting it close aren't they? Try outs are less then 10 days away and those that applied still don't know if they have teams, makes it tough on them to find players. |

I think allowing AA teams to play under the ECB brand has to hurt the overall reputation of the program. Teams like the Braves can go out and beat anybody on any day while others cannot compete with AAA talent. It used to be two teams per age group and those two teams were usually ranked #1 and #2 in the state.......more teams more money |

I gotta agree here. The powers at ECB may be short sighted in maximizing revenue by increasing the number of teams (diluting the talent pool). When parents bring their child to ECB and pay a premium to do so, they expect to win on a regular basis and not get beat by smaller programs. Especially if the new ECB teams wind up playing AA teams. |

I don't think it is anyone's intent on playing AA ball out of East Cobb but the reality is there isn't enough kids available to field all competitive AAA or major teams. What they should focus on is combining more teams to create 3-4 major teams instead of basically one (Braves).
If you look at what is happening there now, most of the top players are going to 3-4 teams while the others are taking some of the secondary kids to fill rosters. As an end result, I expect at least 3 major type teams at 11U, 3 AAA teams and the rest will become AA. As far as which teams fall where, we all knows the Braves/Astros are a major but the rest will depend on how you look at it. |

I heard from a good source that it came to a total of 11 at ECB for next year. Who are the new teams and coaches? Can anyone confirm? |

Who knows, I think last year there could have been 11 or 12 teams had it not been for some mergers and a couple of teams folding. |

I heard the number approved is 12. May turn out to be less if they can't all field teams from the available players.
Either way, 11 or 12 is too much IMHO |
