At what point in the fall is it ok to play in tournaments as a pick up player checking out teams for the following spring?
If a player is frozen to a roster in April, does he have to do anything to legally play in a tournament with a different team in say September?

I believe most organizations (example USSSA) end their roster season a the end July or August then the 2011 season begins in September.

In USSSA, the season offically ends August 1st. Just about anything goes after August 1st. Fall tourneys are much more relaxed about roster rules.
