Any comments on the $10 per day gate fee for Saturday and Sunday during the Atlanta Super NIT???? We're new to the whole travel ball scene, but $10 is $4 more than we've ever seen. During tough times for many families, this will force only one of parent of several of our players the opportunity to watch their child play this weekend. Any thoughts? |

Just curious, where does it list the gate fees? If true, $10 per day is very steep and double what it was last year right? |

The Super NIT's are the sole qualifying events for the USSSA Elite World Series. It has always been a more costly event than standard tournaments. The USSSA State Tournaments will be similar, as well. If you are used to the Elite circuit, the costs won't be surprising, but if you are a team just looking to play that weekend, I can see how there might be some sticker shock. |

It's in an Information Guide that has a link just below the links to all the division breakdowns that are listed at the top of the Atlanta Super NIT website.
http://www.gausssabaseball.com/images/uploads/supernit/Information_Guide.pdf
Friday is $5.00 and Saturday/Sunday is $10.00 per day. Except for the standard under 15 and seniors fees.
I found it interesting that the Wooden Bat Classic website states: "General gate admission shall be $5.00 per day for all persons 16 years of age and older or $12.00 for the USSSA Southeastern Wood Bat Championships NIT Pass. Children 15 years of age and younger are admitted free of charge. Admission applies to everyone except participating uniformed players and listed coaches (maximum of 4 per team) with proper identification."
But prior to this Information Guide being published, the Atlanta Super NIT USSSA website only said: "A general gate admission will be charged and will apply to everyone except uniformed players and a maximum of 4 coaches per team with proper photo identification."
Do you think they anticipated some issues with the $10 fees??????? |

It is in the guide you can download from the main page. $5 for Friday, $10 each Saturday and Sunday. We have a Friday night game. That means $25 per person for the weekend. $50 just for mom and dad to go watch thier son. Yes, it seems steep to me.

The gate fees are starting to get closer to the competitive cheerleading entry fees. If you have ever been to a Cheerleading competition, they are always $15 per day or $25 for Sat/Sun. The kicker is each squad only competes for 2.5 minutes each day so basically $25 for 5 minutes of performance time plus the awards ceremony.
After going to many of these over the past 4 years, baseball gate fees are a lot more economial. |

Can Bubba explain the $10 gate fee? What is the process for attending different venues on the same day? According to the brackets most teams will play their pool games at one site and the bracket games at a 2nd or 3 rd site. some maybe on the same day. Are they going to try to charge at each site even after paying earlier in the day? it has happen before.

Unreal! Why the Friday night discount? Because they know the fees are obnoxious and ridiculous, so their softening the blow your pockets take. Thanks for the consideration and empathy GA USSSA!
Is there a reasonable explanation why this event's gate fees are exponentially more than the average event. They've got over 300+ participating clubs. Charging a team gate fee just doesn't generate enough revenues. I agree that $30,000 isn't enough. Especially when the actual entry fee is more than the average tournament. Credit them for being consistent.
Funny thing is the gate fee doesn't secure or guarantee a seat or protection from inclimate weather. What are you paying for? Parking that's right. Parking! But you gotta find your own space. The Gwinnett Braves have cheaper tickets! And group rates! |

Tickets to UGA or GA Tech are cheaper. This is highway robbery. No reason to attend next year. No Slugfest or NIT. They're not that important. |

I think going to $6 or $7 would have been a better approach then jumping right to $10. I sure as hope their not charging another $10 if you have to go to another venue in the same day, you'll have some really pissed off parents. |

WOW, are the braves having inter squad games after every youth game $10 per day is almost double and even though it may not seem like much more these are the kind of things that will run teams off from Usssa. I know for AAU down here in Florida this was one of the issues that started AAU down its path to losing teams. |

Florida Travel Baseball only charged $5.00 a day this past weekend! And we played 2 games in the old Cincinnati Reds Spring training stadium! What a ripoff! |

I don't pretend to know what it costs to pull off an event like this, but if you do some simple math and figure on 300 teams with 11 players per team and 2 parents per player, you'll get $132,000.00 just for Saturday/Sunday in gate fee's alone! I didn't take into consideration that 4 coaches will be allowed in free so you can subtract that from the total, but it ain't much.
BravesFan: The fee is transferable to other venues on the same day! |

Well here is the other problem with the Super Nit. It usually is a 4 game guarantee. Not this year. This is a little much USSSA. 3 games for 400 for alot of teams. You add the gate up and concessions and parents are going to be upset with 3 games. |

I agree with beanball. I will certainly vote to pass both the Slugfest due to the umpiring and the NIT to the highway robbery the are charging to watch our kids play baseball. are they giving each team t shirt - no way. open your wallet again for the shirt. INCREDIBLE!!!!! |

Since the first Atlanta Super Nit in 2005 the gate fees have been as followed: 7 per day for 16 and up 5.00 for 6-15 and 5u free. We wanted this year to get away from charging kids all together. This was the reason for the change this year. However, with the economic times as they are and after further negotiations the Georgia State Office has lowered the gate fee from 10.00 per person to 8.00 w/ children 15 and under still free. Senior citizen discounts still apply. Hope everyone understands and let's get ready for some great baseball and hope for no rain on Sunday!!!!

Papa will never post again that Georgia USSSA does not respond to our concerns. In the past I have been one of the harshest critics of USSSA for not responding to legitimate complaints of their team base.
Like it or Hate it you have to admit that at least we now have a director that is listening and is doing the best he can to address our concerns. What more can we ask for.
For the one's that has never given a tournament you would not believe the costs associated with putting on a first class event like the Super NIT. The logistics alone are a nightmare and the costs for fields, workers, lights, and umpires are off the charts. $8 is certainly better than $10 and lets not forget that last year under 15 cost $5 more and now the kids are free.
Truth is simple and plain. Travel Baseball is expensive and in this tight economy harder and harder to play. Most all teams have had to curtail or schedule more games closer to home due to the dollar crunch. Papa would like to thank Bubba and I give him an "A" for effort. |
