I just heard an update from a person who is involved that 2 practice fields are now complete and teams will begin practicing on them next week. They added to the plans to have a gym for adults to work out at while the kids practice baseball/softball. I think there are 8 teams already competing under the Signature Park banner. As the weather improves and the water table drops, progress will hasten.

I've seen the master plan, and this place is going to be one the most advanced youth baseball facilities in the Country. Glad to see the dream is becoming a reality.

My nephew plays for the Signature Park Spartans and I spoke to the director for quite a while today. I am meeting with him on Friday to walk the site and see how we are progressing. Construction costs are quite a bit more when working with an extremely saturated soil. But make no mistake, this park will be very very high tech. At first I wasn't a fan of the turf fields but after seeing a sample and how the ball plays off the turf I think this is a great idea. Think no bad hops...... Also, this park is being built for a complete and total family environment. The vision was to have a place that an entire family can enjoy and utilize. Another plus is built into our Signature Park budget is private lessons with Kevin Renz who is a great coach. If anyone has any questions please let me know and I will do my best to answer them. Also if anyone would like to see some pictures I can probably email them after Friday.

Wow, I had to go all the way up into the attic to find this thread, then dust it all off.

I heard things are moving ahead again on 3 fields at Signature Park, so I'll check it all out asap and let you all know what I saw.

Anyone been by there recently?

12U Georgia Bandits want to be the first team added to the list to play at this park. We would even be interested in a warm-up game with some of the local talent when the fields get ready as we have teammates that live close by. This has been needed for this area for quite some time and might be the first step in getting this area heading in the right direction in the youth travel baseball world. Everyone already knows that the talent has been there for some time and it appears that someone is fixing to assemble something special.

Just got back from Signature Park. One cloverleaf has been graded. We could see a tourney later this year if the weather cooperates.

I've been told it would be done this summer for 2 years now, so I will believe it when I see it.....It was weather, then contractors, so I think Sig Park is better off not giving anymore "expected dates"....JMO

I think the recession and government regulations have been the biggest obstacles.

Yea, they were told they would have to put a turn light in, they that they weren't, then that they were......I know he has had a TON of set backs, we were told the money was there to complete the park last summer but who knows???

Nothing has been done in 2 years, I believe there are only two practice fields, but from what I hear they are in poor condition. The plans look great, but for now they are just plans.

I drove by there last Saturday thinking I was going to see at least a couple of fields. There was a chain across the dirt entrance and from what I could see from the road, didn't look like anything had been done but a little grading. Where are these Signature Park teams playing out of?

Not gonna happen. They want everything donated. Tough to donate materials and labor in this economy....LOL

BTW- if it is the next best thing????? The money should be there before you start a project.

Is it?

BTW2- Soil has nothing to do with the progress problems.... soil problems are taken care of during construction.......build a good base and they will come..and stay!!!!

How do you know it's not gonna happen? Are you one of the directors ? Are you involved in the project? My son has been playing for signature Park the last three years and my wife and I love it. Sure we would love to see the park completed, but we know it takes time. These folks have nothing to prove to anyone. There are not being subsidized by any taxing government. Their vision is a passion for baseball and softball. Rather than being negative, let's see how we could assist them, because it's all about the kids.

PS. They sure have three nice practice fields built.
