| in need of a batting instructor for 17 yr old. someone that can fine tune, spot smaller problems. His swing is not bat just looking for more power and consistancy. we live 75 miles north of atlanta so the farther north the better, but would travel more for a proven record, college instruction or higher |

We are going to try this once again. Previous posts requesting instructor recommendations always end up with a battle between praise and ripping certain instructors. Those of you that have positive experience with an instructor that meets the criteria of treg3 please offer your advice.

Drew Startup -- played college ball all-american shortstop; coach of 2-time state champion Cartersville High School Hurricanes; coached Donovan Tate, #3 pick overall in June '09 draft. He's a great hitting instructor and great guy.

| I would very strongly recommend Tim West. Being a student of hitting most of my life, very often I walk away from sessions having learned things just listening to the interactions with my son. Seasoned instructor, long pedigree of professional and collegiate players. He can be reached @ 678.570.7727 |

| Stickman and Madimo could you give some details as to what type of hitting Styles Drew and Shane teach? Nothing too indepth just basic rotational or linear, stride or no stride? thank you. |

Second this. I listen closely so that when I am at the cage pitching to my boys I can make sure I'm consistent with what he is telling them.
It's great to watch him working with college and young professional players too. |

Shane teaches a very simple appoach at the plate, he teaches short stride, hands back ready to launch and is big on teaching kids to keep the knob of the bat inside the ball.
Shane hit 405 lifetime at Clemson University and was a 1st round pick of the Mariners in which he got to the bigs in two years.

I'm glad to see this topic open again. Hopefully we can refrain from ripping anyone so those that need some positive advice have a place to get it.
I would like to take my 9 year old to a hitting instructor. I have been coaching him since t-ball and it may be time for him to hear a different voice. I'm looking around the Marietta/Kennesaw/Woodstock/Canton area. I have seen the Cobb Sports Complex and Pevey Baseball. Anyone have a positive experience to share about either of these or another in the area? |

age, athleticism of the kid are factors.
Maintain athletic position from start to finish (balance), knob to catcher when loading, directional & rotational to ball, stay thru the ball...

Meatball, based on the side of town you live in I would recommend Ryan Sterling from 6-4-3. great hitting and defensive instructor |

| Peavy has full immersion training and a long list of successful clients from the major leagues to ECB and lower. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a long term hitting instructor that approaches it as a science. Works well with all ages in a private location with world class technical support. |
