Man, there are some weak teams in the tournament. A lot of teams, but not a lot of strong ones. If someone from around here wanted to wrap up a berth early, this sure would be the time to do it.

I only see 3 tams from Georgia. I think Warriors Baseball is East Cobb Warriors atleast that is what they were listed in a tournament we played them in this weekend. Extreme and I'm guessing here the North Augusta team the other 2. Yes this field is watered down. I'm talking on the 14u division as that is the age group I'm familier with.

Extreme is from SC. They were in the Elite last year, and in the TN Super NIT.

they are probably listing AAA and major together. however, I would wager the AAA will have their own division. The major in the 14's-top teams so far are Extreme, Megastars and Hurricanes. I believe ECB Combat is planning on going. Note sure who else.

as a former team reebok (used to be predators then reebok but now back to predators and a former extreme when they were gloveslingers) i think with the players the predators have added they will be one of the best 14u teams in this tourney if that is them listed as team reebok. confusing i know but they were better than both the megastars and hurricanes over the course of the season before adding some really good players this fall.

whits23,

do you have an information on the 13U field? I'm familiar with the Georgia teams, but not many of the others. Thanks!

only the raleigh wildcats who are a very solid team and can play with most..just lacking superstars to carry them

in 11u greensboro titans are probably the best nc team in it

If the Palmetto Patriots still have their team intact from last year's USSSA Winter World Series, they will be tough. I don't know if that will happen though considering they had 23 players on their roster through last season. It's hard to judge some of the Florida teams at times. I think their players do more team hopping than anywhere else. Must be nice to really play ball year round in that great Florida weather. LOL

14u Astros do not need to qualify this year as defending champion of the 13u tournament last year. Does not mean they are not playing in out of state Super NIT's, but unlikely traveling to play 14u when they can stay home and be tested in good 15u tournaments.

Non-Georgia 13U Teams

Carolina Cubs - Scrappy bunch.
They won one and tied one in three meetings vs. Mill Creek Hawks last season

Raleigh Wildcats - Very competitive team. Knocked The Chiefs out of the 12U TOC in this past June.

Megastars - Tend to be hot or cold. If they get hot, they're tough!

Shockwave - Same as the Megastars except a little more cold than hot.

As for the rest of the Carolina teams...some are AAA and some, who knows? I wonder if Vipers could be Vipers Baseball for Alabama?
If so, they're a solid team.

JCB,
The 14U Astros will not be playing out of state Super NIT's. With the automatic bid, there is no need to incur the travel costs. There are a lot of 15U and 16U tournaments locally to play in, particularly the Perfect Game tournaments.

If you look at the 14U Atlanta Super NIT, 14U Perfect Game, 15U Perfect Game, 16U Perfect Game, 15U USSSA Major State, 15U CABA State, 14U Elite WS, you have 7 tournaments between May and July. I am sure there will be more locally as well.

Why would a team not try and qualify early?

When you qualify, it locks your roster for the Elite. You can drop as many as you want but can only pick up 3. Qualifying 10 months in advance brings on a lot of risk of losing players to injury, moving out of town, etc. However, on the flip side, qualifying early allows you to schedule your season a lot better. It gives your parents a lot of advance notice that you will be spending a week in Orlando. That gives them time to set aside vacation and money for that purpose.

I think ItsjustLLBBall is referring to the 12U Astros. The 14's don't need to go and the 13's have too many playing football, if I am not mistaken.

6-4-3,
Was that the full team for Team Gwinnett yesterday or were there others that will be joining the team in the spring. I heard different things and was just curious.

Great job by your guys yesterday. The catcher did a great job of throwing runners out. Also your third baseman really played hard and took some hits away. You guys swung the bats really well also. It should be a very good year for you next year.
