BANDITS WIN, BANDITS WIN, BANDITS WIN. Bandits might have taken it on the chin from the San Diego North Stars and was looking forward to the rematch but San Diego took a early flight out and is most likely taking in the sunny beaches of Southern California while the Bandits are basking in the reflection of the light of the Championship Trophy that is 1 foot taller than our Coach.
I want to see if all of you Baseball Fanatics can begin to comprehend what these young men have accomplished in the mountains of the great Catskill Mountains.
The brackets started out with a hard earned victory and maybe the hardest victory of all with a 9-3 victory over a scrappy North Alabama Giants squad. We followed that up with a 20-5 victory over the #3 seeded Long Beach Fury out of the great state of California and Moser you follow along with these victories as the only disagreement that I have had with your philosophy is when you felt that both California and Florida was ahead of my beloved Georgia baseball teams. After we flossed the Fury we defeated the Texas National Squad 4-0 that carried a #6 seed and national ranking into the game with the little squad from Chickamauga and last we seen of them they were in one of the pastures of this great New York valley rounding up cattle to herd back to Texas. A little side note in the Texas National game is the no hitter tossed by the Bandits pitching staff.
This set up the rematch that the Bandits have been waiting and stewing over since the Super NIT in Atlanta. Papa will state for the record that this Mizuno team has the most awesome hitters that we have ever faced but they were not prepared for the desire, the grit, or the heart the Bandits displayed to a standing room only crowd that Cooperstown sees only once in blue moon. Protecting a 1-0 lead with 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th with one man on base the Mizuno hitter blasts a bomb to left field and chases #12 from the mound but only after #12 had completely shut them down for 4-2/3 innings. Papa admits that things were looking bleak and that our friends and fans thought the end might be near but the Bandits do not know the meaning of the word quit and in the top of the 6th inning put a 8 spot on the Glory and went into the bottom of the 6th with a 9-2 lead and held on tight for hard earned victory.
Coming out of the dugout we were prepared to get ready to face the San Diego Stars but our friends 643 had a different idea in mind as they waxed the Stars 6-2. Moser, "Are you still with me, This scenario of the greatest youth baseball tournament in America now pits the 2 best teams in the nation both being from the great State of Georgia.
Bandits won the game 10-0 and stand tonight at 61 wins with 2 losses in 10 and under baseball.
Baseball Papa claims that Bandits Baseball out of the great state of Georgia is the #1 team in the nation and have proven in the only way that it can ever be proven and that is by playing the game between the lines and taking on all comers and at the end being the last team standing.
I LOVE YOU BANDITS.

Congratulations Bandits. I hope the little guys enjoy being #1. That's quite an accomplishment. I know all of us in Georgia are all smiles and happy for your win.
PS...I stayed up past my bedtime and watched. Nice job by both teams. |

Do you think baseballpapa is giddy today?
Congratulations to the Bandits for a great run. Not an easy feat from the #14 spot.
I watched all but the championship game. |

Congrat to Bandits good job 6-4-3, "the little squad from Chickamauga" dont forget the 2 Grip pitchers, I imagine we may have seen a different outcome had they not joined the team for coooperstown, still might have won but wouldnt have been as easy. I bet you wont see or hear Danny Pralgo talking about his 6-4-3 team, he does the talking on the field and realizes you win some and lose some, No reason not to be proud of your team though congrats Pappa. |

I'd actually have to agree... What the Bandits did is incredible, but would have been better with their own players. They had to know they would need the additonal pitching for Cooperstown, why didn't they seek out these pitchers at the beginning of the season? I'd have to say that what 6-4-3 did was more impressive. Bandits got the win, but 6-4-3 got my respect for doing it the right way. |

PaPa, The Bandits and 6-4-3 both proved me wrong, and I've never been so happy about being so wrong. 6-4-3 and the Bandits beating the Mizuno Glory, San Diego Stars, and the Texas Nationals all in the same day... unbelievable! Those WERE the top 3 teams in the USA in case you didn't know it. I dont pay for USTBA's rankings, so somebody who does, please post their new top 10 10U teams when it comes out.
I don't think there's ever been such a clear cut, numero uno, undisputed champion, top dog, king of the hill team at any age group as the 2009 10U Bandits.

Congrats to both teams on getting to the finals. Congrats to 643 on being humble in getting to the finals. Pralgo is as much of a baseball guy to know that this sport can knock you down at any time and its best to act like you've been there before. |

I sit here and it blows me away that even when the BANDITS have beat 6-4-3 WITHOUT the GRIP kids they still didn't do it the way OTHERS would. To win Cooperstown you need pitching and lots of it..If the BANDITS coaching staff knew ahead of time that they needed that for COOPERSTOWN...If the other staff didn't prepare for that knowing that pitching needed to be deep, who's fault is that..There is no right or wrong way to do things these days, times are changing in youth baseball. So you either prepare of get left behind..Maybe the Bandits learned something from getting beat by the Glory!!!! Maybe 6-4-3 will learn something from this..If you watched any of the game walks is what got 6-4-3.... |

Congrats to the Bandits and 6-4-3 !!!!! And all the teams from Ga that competed...... As everybody else has mentioned, you guys have done Ga Baseball proud. I have been able to see the Bandits play since the days of Dizzy Dean all-stars and they have allways impressed me with their fundamentals and desire to play and compete. Its amazing what u can accomplish w/ a little talent (ok maybe a lot) and even more heart and desire. Great job to all involved. |

Congrats to both teams. What a feet for a north georgia team to be playing a local east cobb county team for the championship. It is truely amazing with that many teams entered. Baseballpapa remember this and enjoy it. Truly a great feeling watching a relative accomplish something like this. The good news for you is these kids are young and have bigger things to look forward to as they continue to grow as baseball players. |

There is no right or wrong way when it comes to these 2 teams. They are just different. Coach Danny (6-4-3) held a tryout last year in which there were 50+ players in attendance. Coach Troy (Bandits) has built a great team around a core group of players adding new ones only when it was right for the team.
Coach Troy is nothing short of a genius when it comes to coaching his team. The decision to pick up 2 more players to better compete at Cooperstown is a prime example. Right before the players were added, one of his 10 players left the team. Shortly after the 2 players were added and right before Cooperstown, one of the dominant lefty pitchers suffers a slight separation of his growth plate and is unable to pitch or even throw. Had he not added these players, the team would be down to 8 healthy players. I'm pretty sure Coach Troy is not only a genius but a magician with a crystal ball. Anyone who thinks he is NOT doing it the "right way" needs to spend some time around this team. You will quickly be convinced otherwise.
They are both doing it right in my opinion. I watched both teams play this past week in Cooperstown and both teams were having FUN while playing great baseball. Both coaches appear to have a great deal of respect for each other and the other's team.
One of the coolest things I saw this past week was a group of Moms from the Bandits went over to cheer and chant for the 6-4-3 team. The 6-4-3 Moms are not big chanters and the Bandit Moms are HUGE chanters. It was the bottom of the 6th inning and the Cougars were down 8 to 6. They rallied to beat their opponent 9 to 8. It was an awesome display of support by the Bandit Moms for their fellow Georgia team. |

Finally able to log on and comment! Just want to send kudos to the Bandits for an impressive run at Cooperstown. You boys played with heart and deserved the win. Papa, it was a pleasure to meet you and I'm sure you're on top of the world with both boys doing so well at Cooperstown. The Bandits came to NY with a taste for Glory blood, and never let up. Our boys played hard as well, but had one tough inning that shook their confidence. I look forward to watching this matchup again, knowing it can fall either way on any given day. Take care, and keep cheering for those boys! |

Guys, I apologize if it appears that I am so proud that I could bust but the truth is that I am so proud of these little guys that I could bust.
You would have had to have been there to appreciate what transpired this past week. It is one thing to dominate and win at will but it is another thing to get slammed to the mat, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start fresh getting stronger each and every time out. The Bandits did the latter and ended up winning the biggest championship that the 10 under baseball world offers competing against 88 of the best baseball squads in America.
I know that Coach Pralgo doesn't toot his teams horn and neither does Coach Troy. Baseball Papa has paid his dues to this game and respect the game from the pits of my heart but I am proud of what the Bandits and Chiefs have accomplished over the past 2 years and if that is wrong, then I will just be wrong.
Read the posts from about December of last year and you will see that the Bandits announced very early on that they would be needing 2 players for Cooperstown due hto the format.
Not only did we find what we feel was the perfect fit with the 2 players that played this year for the Grip but hope that these 2 kids and the Bandits find a way to make this a permanent situation. If anyone knows anything about baseball it is obvious that we are much better with them than without them but so would any other team be much better that picked them up.
Make no mistake that these kids bring much more to our team than talent. They bring all of the qualities that all of the Bandits possess with their willingness to work long and hard to be successful and they have the Bandit type of heart and they hustle like Bandits and they listen and can be coached like a bandit.
But the biggest plus is the families that they brought with them. No matter what happens in the future the Bandits have found 2 families that feel the same way about baseball as we do and would not take anything for the experiences we shared this week in Cooperstown, NY.
After the grueling Mizuno game, Papa was sitting on the bench at the concession stand and most likely looking pretty lousy. Someone asked me if I was OK and I replied before I put much thought in my answer and aaid. " I am fine, In fact I am as happy as I have ever been and that if I didn't make it to the top of the hill, that they should just bury me in Centerfied on Field #10 and put on my tombstone, "Glory, Glory, Glory, the Bandits did it"
I really don't mean to brag but I love my grandsons so much and I am so proud of what they have accomplished not for the accomplishments themselves but for the hard work and sacrifice that they have made to achieve the lofty goals set by themselves.
Go Bandits and Chiefs. |

Glory Mom: It was also a sincere pleasure meeting with you and your husband. One of the things we overlook as we play so hard to win that this game can also make lifelong friends. You know and I do also that this game could have gone either way and the momentum just picked a bad time to leave your side of the field of battle.
As you know I am a fanatic when it comes to 10U and 12U baseball and I have seen hundreds of the very best teams in the nation play in tournaments of champions, Super NIT's and a host of other events. I will state for the record for all to know that the Mizuno Glory is the greatest group of hitters at this age that Papa has ever seen and that their attack is aggressive and relentess as the other team attempts to hold on for dear life.
What a gesture your shortstop Dad's made when he came to our dugout in his wheelchair and tipped his hat to our players and fans. And what a great player his son is and what a bomb he hit to put the Glory ahead. Although your fans and ours are noisy they are also have much class.
Rest assured that Papa believes that Mizuno will always the team to beat in this age group.
Good luck to you and the Glory at Disney. Since the Bandits will not be there I hope you start your comeback there. |

Great job by all the Ga teams!! Bandits, 643 outstanding job! Scorpions, Tigers, you guys played very good. Four out of the five teams in Ga going into pool play ranked in top 24, well, I think that speaks volumes for Ga baseball.Ga vs Fl? Who has the best baseball, I ask Ga vs the nation? Who has the best baseball? There are several more Ga teams that could have made a run at this thing. |

Papa really didn't want to get into this but I want to set the record straight as some of you posting do not appear to have all of the information you need prior to making assumptions. The Bandits and 643 are both great teams but both teams have been built and developed in different ways. Bandits were winning consistently prior to our new players coming on board and have won consistently after their arrival. We beat 643 without them pitching and have now beat 643 with them pitching and it was not easy either way as 643 and read the record to verify this that Papa has always said that 643 is the one of the toughest teams we have ever faced and because of the way they play are always dangerous.
The next new topic should be "What is the correct way to build and elite travel team". And before you answer the above you should know what an elite travel team is and you should also know what kind of teams this team will be squaring off against. Teams like the "Mizuno Glory that is built from the entire state of Florida", San Diego Stars that pick up the best players of California and bring to all the big tournaments and many others built to win. I met one lady from Florida (not Mizuno) that stated her son's team was an all star team from South Florida built just to win Cooperstown. Papa didn't invent the way elite teams are built but I have watched closely how these teams operate and play.
Now to 643 and the Bandits and their methods of building a team.
1. I read the post where Coach Danny had 50+ players at his tryout. I believe Coach Danny had 12 guys on his roster so his 12 players must have picked from this group of 50+. Coach Troy has never had more than 2 kids at his tryouts and he usually only picks one of these team. So Coach Troy loses one or two and picks up one or two keeping the core group together.
2. Coach Danny has approximately 12 players on his roster and did not need to pick up additional players as he already had a full compliment of players for Cooperstown. Coach Troy only carries 10 players (so that all can play equally) and lost one of our most special kids and lost another to injury that dropped us to 8 healthy players. This had the Bandits with 10 players at Cooperstown and #20 that could only hit.
3. Both Coaches took the players they picked and played in the biggest 10 year tournament that the United States of America offers. It is obvious that both Coaches coach the right way as it is reflected in the way both of these teams play the game. Both of these men are great Coaches. They may not coach exactly the same but the proof is in the pudding and the pudding in this case is awfully good.
4. And last but not least I would like to add that it is our hope and desire that our new players for Cooperstown will be our new players for next year. It is hard for me to comprehend that we could have found two players that fit the Bandit mold better than these two. They are tremendous players with great talent and desire and they have brought two of the finest families into our mix of great parents that love each other and love the game of baseball. Papa might have just given you the secret of this elite travel team thing. You cannot build this team with just great players, you have to have great Coaches, and most of all you have got to have parents that know the meaning of "TEAM" and families that care for each other and love the game of baseball.
And as far as me talking about the Chiefs and Bandits. I might have misunderstood the purpose of this forum but I don't believe that I have. I am proud of these teams and especially proud of my grandsons and will continue to tell the truth when it comes to their accomplishments. I have bragged plenty about 643 and the other great teams that Georgia has and in my heart feel that the reason the Bandits handled the competition in Cooperstown is because of the quality of the teams we face in Georgia. When you face tough teams every day at East Cobb, and All Tournament Players Park the competition in Cooperstown does not appear as tough to us as it does to some others. The Bandits stand at over 60 wins with only 2 losses and both losses were against teams ranked in the top 4 teams of the nation. I will let the record talk for me here because it tells the whole story of what hard work and desire does for any team.
The last thing said was why didn't we seek out the pitching at the beginning of the season. Read the posts from December and January of this year and you will see that it was announced that the Bandits would need help with their pitching staff in Cooperstown due to the size of our roster.
I hope this helps answer the above quote. |

Congrats to Bandits. Your accomplishments are truly amazing. Think about the fact that the Bandits lost their Ace and team leader two weeks before this tournament and still managed to win it all. Coach Troy deserves a lot of credit for managing around what could have been a disastrous event.
I particularly like the story of the Bandits moms cheering for 6-4-3. This shows great Georgia sportsmanship although if if I were the Bandits mom's, I wouldn't want any part of the SD Stars either.
My favorite part of the tournament though was when the Bandits and 6-4-3 met at the mound together for a group cheer. It just doesn't get much better than that in youth sports.
Thanks to Bandits Baseball and 6-4-3 DP Academy for showing the Nation how great 10u baseball is in Georgia and giving the rest of us a model for how to conduct yourselves as a baseball team. |

From what I heard 6-4-3 started at the 9U level with just some kids they picked up here and there from the East Cobb area with mostly rec allstar players. At the 10U they had a tryout maybe 40 kids max showed, but he only replaced about 3 or 4 kids. He could have gone for the stud players but really his team is setup with pretty good players and they are coached up. Similar to what the bandits have done since age 6. Bandits just got a head start. No doubt the bandits were and are the best team in GA and maybe the nation at 10U with or without the pitchers they picked up. My heart tells me they will be back with them next year however. |

We have talked a lot about the Bandits and 643 accomplishments and they deserve all the credit that they have gotten but we have not mentioned the East Cobb Scorpions or East Cobb Tigers as much as we should have.
In my opinion if the Scorpions had played a little longer with this team prior to Cooperstown they could have made a deeper run at the championship. I watched several games and they were playing some great baseball. If this team stays together they will be a force to be reckoned with in the future tournaments. The Tigers also made a good run playing some really good baseball.
All in All Georgia baseball made a real statement in the 10U Cooperstown Dreams Park showcase and have put 10 U Georgia Baseball on the national map.
Make no mistake the teams from Florida, Texas, and California now realize that Georgia can play some ball. |
